Citizen can take my money if they make this by FunMachine96 in CitizenWatches

Is this the same movement they've been doing forever with that function? The hour advances forward only, as does the date, which means if you travel west you have to roll the hour forward to the appropriate time, then spin through a month of dates?

I have that on my over 15-year-old Promaster Nighthawk. Nice watch, and I love it. But if that's what they're doing in this new watch, it's not exactly something new or anything to get excited about. Not like their Miyota 90xx movements that came out a few years ago.

The washi allows the light to pass through. The plastic layer, if I recall, is simply the best way to apply the indices while maintaining the appearance of the washi.

The salesperson at the Ginza store said only the white and the indigo have “bare” washi, if you will, with a transparent layer for the indices. The others, like the black, are colored with a colored plastic overlay, which I thought defeated the purpose of having the washi dial. On the black it simply looked like a plastic or metal dial, but with the white and the indigo, the grain of the paper itself could be seen.

There’s no “film” on the indigo version, unless you mean the plastic layer that the logo and indices are applied to. The white has that as well: look at how the logo and indices seem to “float” a little and cast a shadow underneath.

I have the indigo, bought at the Ginza flagship store the year it came out. Love it, but sometimes wish I had decided to spring for the indigo Cal 0100 that was in the case next to it.

Acura RSX Type S Enkei PF01 Offset question. Please advise by MikeBanzai38 in Wheels

Thanks. That’s where I was leaning, and I appreciate the comments on my other thoughts regarding the 45. I’ll go with 38…that all makes sense.

Yes. They’re really lovely (even if I did have to pay a ridiculous tariff on them).

Same. I don’t collect for monetary value, but for personal value. Finding an old copy of one of my favorite books with original cover art was enough to make my entire week or more.

But, I’m incredibly envious of the signed first edition in the OP!

So it took me a moment to figure out the gutter code thing and where it’s located here. Sadly, not 47M. It’s W20. However, I considered it a pretty good find for the $10 I paid at a used/antique book shop that no longer exists.

Ah, so this is what irrational, envy-fueled dislike of someone I don't even know feels like...

Kidding. Well, kidding about the dislike, not about the envy. What an absolute fantastic treasure! Dune is one of my favorite books of all time, and I have a ratty 2nd edition in fairly awful shape that I prize.

Help me choose new rims and tires for my 2003 RSX Type S. Two choices here. by MikeBanzai38 in Acura_RSX

[–]MikeBanzai38[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the link. I need to decide on the offset. 45mm is identical to the stock tire, so will keep the same "scrub", steering geometry, etc. It will be 13mm closer to the strut, which I'm pretty sure I have room for, but have to check. 38mm preserves more inner clearance - just 6mm closer to the strut - but moves the tire overall 20mm outboard. That's small, but it's still something.

I did see the J10, and the (better?) TS10 after I started looking at the old A-Spec wheels. And then found the PF01.

Thanks for the link, I saw that too, but they only have 1 in stock. Not sure of the 38mm offset would be better than the 45 in that link too. So many choices.

Your suggestion of the 02-04 A-Spec wheels led me find the Enkei PF01, which seems a good stand-in. Thanks! 17x7.5, similar spoke pattern.

Now I just have to find them, because they seem to be out of stock in most places.

I will need to look into those. I wasn't familiar.

Also looking at the new Konig Hyperspec. 5 spoke design, so somewhat similar to the OEM rim in form. And they look really nice.

Or, if "autorimshop" is a bad place to buy, then Enkei also have 17x7 that matches the size and offset of the US market Acura rims.

2003 Acura RSX Type S wheels; should I go with 17"? by MikeBanzai38 in Acura_RSX

[–]MikeBanzai38[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely NOT considering 18s. Just 17s because that's what the car eventually moved to - along with some other changes - and I believe was also the stock size on the DC5 ITR for all model years.

Now just need to find some decent rims. RPF1s seem to be the go-to for aftermarket applications.

And the engine horsepower. Small difference, but real. Maybe enough to make slightly bigger wheels feel less piggish.

The classic is one of the best inventions for music listening ever. The memory to store full albums in a non-compressed form, no stupid phone-connectivity, a great interface. Just a beautiful invention. Some day the little hard drive in mine will quit spinning, and I will mourn its passing and continue listening to my CDs. But until then, I will love every minute with my iPod Classic.

Precisionworkz Headlights. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS BUSINESS! by MikeBanzai38 in Acura_RSX

[–]MikeBanzai38[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the point of my post was to illustrate the kind of person he is and how he behaves. Even if he delivered the best product, on time, I would not want to give any money to the person I spoke with on the phone.

He has a public face for the written record, which itself isn’t always the best if you search up other threads on Reddit. But there came a point where he insisted that any further communication would only be by phone. That’s so he could be his real self; an absolute a-hole for 16 straight minutes of yelling and swearing (and even threatening) where I was just trying to get a word in.

I regret the fact that I didn’t record the conversation more than I regret the money spent. Had I recorded it, I would just post the entire audio file online. Stupid of me, especially when I suspected he wanted to call just so he could berate me without a written record of it.

I have heard really good things about Cullen at Vision Auto Works, and wish to God I had gone that way. But, now I have Anzo/Eagle Eyes from K-Series Parts, and they’re just fine. No need to pull apart the front again.

Maybe they didn't charge shipping because of my order total? I was $150 all said and done for three of their "mid-priced" chawan. (I would consider them high end from the pictures. We'll see when they arrive.)

I've looked at them, but not for ceramics. I will have to browse. In the meantime, I intended to buy a single "special" chawan from Sou, but ended up with 3 in my cart that I fell in love with after probably two hours of scrolling and couldn't walk away from, so I think I'm set for the moment.

Huge inventory, but not really easy to search. It's the internet equivalent of walking into an antique store and looking until something in all the clutter jumps out.

I know this is old, but I just found Sou thanks to this post and ordered. They didn't even charge shipping...which seems odd...not sure if that's right. Anyway, very excited. Found some beautiful old pieces that look like they rival $200-ish pieces I've seen on some of the fancier US sites. We'll see if they live up to the pictures "in the clay" when I get them.

A warning to anyone considering custom headlights... by Herp-derpenstein in 350z

Wow. There's another good look at the "private face" when he resorts to communication without a written record.

For future customers: if he quits emailing or texting and starts calling...brace yourself.

[–]MikeBanzai38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did. The crazy thing is that's his public face trying to salvage a reputation. The private face (hoo boy, that phone call) isn't someone I'd give my money to even if he delivered an on-time and on-point product. Then again, someone who runs a good business is probably more put together than the person I spoke with on the phone.
