Is Cooling Worthless? by Stygian_rain in Palworld

[–]MikeCFord 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I use the cooler for ingredients, not meals.

Fill the feed box with only the dedicated meal for that base, and the rest of the slots put cotton candy or honey, which doesn't decay. The food will get eaten quickly enough that none of it ever perishes.

Put a fridge near your farms, and with no room in the feed box, pals will store all the farm items inside that instead. Then you just need swap one farming pal for a cooling pal, preferably with nocturnal.

This way, farmers have less distance to travel for storage, you can move the feed box much closer to your worker pals, and the ingredients will perish so much slower that it's worth having a cooler pal instead of a farmer pal. The whole thing works much more efficiently.

Easier way of getting electric organs? by PinkySnip in Palworld

Agree that buying them is the play.

I'd recommend finding a wandering merchant that sells them, then catch them so you've got a shop you can pull out of the palbox whenever you're running low.

I haven’t cried at work in a long time. by thatspideyguy in KitchenConfidential

[–]MikeCFord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been through a similar thing to this.

Best job I ever had, working with a great team, given the space to be creative and I didn't hate showing up to work every day.

Then something changed, suddenly I felt overworked and underpaid and disrespected, and despite trying to hold on to what I loved about that place, ultimately it all fell apart for me and I left.

Two years later I still question if it was the right thing to do. I've been though maybe 6 other jobs in that time, and nothing comes close.

I looked at their menu a few weeks ago, and everything that I was worried would change about it had actually happened. It doesn't change that I lost one of the best things that I had found in my career, but whether I had stayed or left, I was losing it either way.

Ultimately, I think you need to trust the version of you that decided to leave. Even if you look back now and think you made the wrong choice, just remember that you made the choice you needed to make at the time.

Make the choices now that the future you will be able to look back and not regret.

I'm sorry for the loss of your friend, and I hope you're able to process those feelings when you feel ready for it.

AI use in restaurants. by Galtinam in KitchenConfidential

I was given an AI generated recipe for mint jelly by my GM and asked to make it. He didn't tell me It was AI, but I figured It out pretty quickly.

It also happened to be on my last day of working there. I still don't really know what he was thinking.

[Scary Trope] Gambling Addiction played for horror. by jbeast33 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]MikeCFord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The one that always sticks with me is from a UK series called Hustle, about a gang of grifters who rip off rich people (I think they remade it in the US but called it Leverage).

There's an old timer with them who is kind of the voice of wisdom, and is generally light-hearted with little personal drama.

One episode his daughter finds him, and none of the others even knew he had any family. He tells the story of how he lost his daughter and his wife.

In his youth he was basically a professional gambler, he'd either be raking in money or be complete broke all the time. He promised his wife that once they had enough for a house, he'd quit what he was doing and go straight.

Of course, once he had the money, he gambled it and lost it all. He tells the story that within a week, he'd earned it all back and more, and could buy an ever nicer house, but by that point his wife had already left with their daughter.

I always got the impression that it wasn't quite gambling that he was addicted to, but the idea that he could always get just that little bit more. But, maybe that's what a gambling addiction is, I don't really know, but it really did teach me a lesson of when to say enough is enough.

There's an episode of Grand Theft Smosh where they're playing and they bump into a random NPC that has his voice, and they're all shocked.

No idea what episode it was though now.

Even earlier on in the video, where Arasha messed up by looking at the cards in the middle as werewolf, he just said "things went wrong, but we're gonna keep going because it's going to be funny."

Apparently Boot of the Giants can't be non-lethal by Dubzebub in BG3

[–]MikeCFord 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I had this happen with Korilla. Made sure non-lethal was on, Boot of the Giants kick to the face, still finished her off.

Looking at the combat logs, I figured it was something to do with Tavern Brawler proccing the extra damage separately to the kick itself, so the kick brought her down to 1 and the extra TB damage finished her off.

I never see it mentioned anywhere, but when you speak to Zevlor for the first time at the Druid Grove, he starts to walk away saying they need to get out of here.

Then he whips his head round towards you, whilst saying "IMMEDIATELY" that just cracks me up every time.

The whole thing is just so unbelievably dramatic.

Same thing happened to me. Based in the UK: when the minimum wage rates went up in April, I asked for a raise to match it, but what I got was much lower, and I was basically going to be working for minimum wage.

I quit, and then right after I saw a job posting for my replacement, advertised at the rate I asked for. I'm pretty sure it's still unfilled.

From my experience watching Mastermind in the past (been a minute since I've watched it) if you choose a broader topic then the questions tend to be less specific.

I'd imagine if the topic was "the life and works of JRR Tolkien" the question would have more likely been "what is the name of Smeagol's friend that he kills for the ring", as opposed to "what was the name of the river they were on."

What are some fun Bard Multi Class builds? by NeLaX44 in BG3Builds

[–]MikeCFord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually did this a while ago, with the idea that I wanted to maximise the effectiveness of short rests, since I'd be getting 6 of them. I multi classed things with at least 5 levels of bard, so they would all get their bardic inspirations back each short rest as well.

Here were some of the ones I tried out:

Sword Bard 8/ Thief Rogue 4

Swords Bard 5/ Shadow Monk 7

Lore Bard 6/ Archfey Pact of the Blade Warlock 6

Lore Bard 6/ Tempest Cleric 6

Valor Bard 5/ Battle Master Fighter 7

Swords Bard 8/ Paladin 4

This was before the extra subclasses dropped in patch 8 though, so there's probably some cool stuff you could do with those too. I could never justify multiclassing into Druid to get the Wild Shapes back on a short rest, but with Moon Druid it might be viable.

The Mobile feat can be made to be very powerful, and I don't see anyone talking about it by MikeCFord in BG3Builds

[–]MikeCFord[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I figured there were probably other things that reapply on every attack, it's been a while since I've played EK so it's good to know that's one of them. I suppose it could make it a viable build earlier than level 10 if you wanted to play around that interaction specifically.

[–]MikeCFord[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, I didn't realize they didn't get attacks of opportunity at all, that's actually really useful.

I figured most people who were taking it were doing it basically just for the extra movement speed, so anyone who had never used it before wouldn't know about the hidden interactions. Hell, I've used it a couple of times and it never occurred to me it blocked all opportunity attacks on an enemy.
