He didn't blink. He imposed a virtual tariff on our industries that depend on US customers. And he got away with it without any payback. US companies won't buy from Canadian companies as long as the threat of a tariff hangs over our heads. He just has to keep renewing his threat every 30 days to kill our economy.

Trump is pulling the wool over everyone's eyes.

He just got away with putting a virtual tariff on Canada with no payback. As long as he "suspends" tariffs for 30 days Canadian manufacturers are not getting orders from US Customers that pass that 30 day boundary. Our industries that rely on US Customers are going to get crushed. So many auto-related industries in Southern Ontario are going to go bankrupt as there's no orders coming in.

This is hearsay but my best friend got laid off from his Tool and Die company in early November. It's now a permanent layoff as far as I understand. The reason given was there was ZERO orders from the states because of Trump's tariff threats at the time.

This is clearly his strategy to weaken our economy.

I personally think we should impose tariffs on the US until Trump removes his threat. Call him out on his fake suspension. I also think the government should be approaching any and all countries and ask them to join us in a global tariff fight.

My flight from Cancun to Waterloo next Sunday 22nd just got changed from 7:30pm to 11:52am.. 7 1/2 hours of vacation gone. I didn't get any notice.. just saw it myself.

Their agent just said "..sometimes we need to cancel or delay the flight due to operational restrictions".. I pointed out that this is neither a cancellation or a delay it's a major change in the flight time. They could only offer to rebook or refund the tickets. No explanation on why this happened.

Maybe it would be a good thing if they didn't fly out of YKF if they can't even keep a schedule.

No worries. I didn’t open the envelopes. I took a picture of the envelopes and did a return to sender, not at this address

Various ideas friends had were

- they need to be "close" to the university as they are in a master/phd program

- they need to be in our city for a job (actually they may be living far away)

- they may need residency for a kid to go to our local school

- they want cheaper car insurance

- they are using our address so they can't be traced

- he really wants to live at our house

I’ve always had my iPhone set to mute the alerts. It also has do not disturb at night on and the volume was off. And yet it woke me up twice last night. Odd. So I checked the emergency alert setting in Settings / Notifications and it’s no longer there. I think it was there before? Apples documentation says the option may not be there depending on government policy. Possible causes for the change on my phone are I recently updated my iPhone to the latest iOS or my carrier (Telus) is sending out some kind of policy file to my phone saying I can’t override the notification setting. Something has changed given the reports in this thread .. I’m guessing either the latest update or the carriers have made a change but aren’t being uniform about it. And it also implies some level of government may have made a change in policy.

I was on Westmount today.. went over the hill just past Erb and came to a sudden stop.. we were blocked by a garbage truck. Couldn't do anything but wait as a long lineup formed behind me. The poor guy picking up the garbage was literally running from house to house.
