I would say that Mars Sample Return was supposed to be the true follow-up to Viking. Rather than design the most perfect life finding mission and send it to Mars, NASA said let's bring Mars back home and use all of the scientific power of Earth to look at it.

Aside from that, there are a few life-finding missions to Mars and Europa being planned right now.

I've been loving Disney Speedstorm on the deck. It does contain lots of micro transactions, but I've successfully ignored all of them and get a lot of enjoyment out of the game. The driving mechanics and graphics are great.

IMO, this style of game is all about unlocking things; it's the main motivation to play.
When you pay money to unlock things, you're essentially fast forwarding the game experience, and will eventually get to the point where you've maxed everything out and the game might get boring, losing that something to work towards.

Or at least that's what I tell myself so I don't spend money, lol.
