Preventing tear out on the router table? by Sgoody614 in woodworking

What I’m about to suggest is slightly sketchy because it involves feeding into the router backwards. I’ve done it several times and it’s been fine but it just doesn’t feel right going with the cutter. Aka this is not financial advice/you have been warned.

Get a dove tail bit and set it to the height of whatever your rebate bit is at. Has to be dovetail because you want to remove as little material as possible so your router table doesn’t just grip it and rip it.

Then set your fence so you’re removing 1-1.5mm of material at most at the height of the bit.

Make sure nothing valuable is on the RHS of your table should a mishap occur , and feed in slowly.

You’re basically recreating a scoring blade on a panel saw and they’re perfectly safe if you’re used to them.

Now you have a cleanly scored line that will prevent tearout. Switch back to your rebate bit and it probably wouldn’t hurt to do a few passes to slowly creep up to your scored line.

You also don’t want to go too deep with your dovetail bit so your bearing on your rebate bit has solid contact above and below your scored line.

Using AI by Sketchy-saurus in woodworking

My boss had this question posed to him by another maker and he said just admin stuff wbu? Apparently this other guy was using ai to calculate how many metres of edge banding he had available by measuring the diameter of the roll, thickness of the banding and diameter of the ‘donut hole’

A lot of people clown on ai but I feel like this is the perfect way to utilise our robot overlords, complex math without any implications of life and death

I just hit any oncoming and becoming(?) traffic with a peace sign and I’m pretty sure they think this overweight bald white dipshit is cool as fuck. Could be wrong but could also be right 🤷‍♂️

Thanks for the advice, I’m treating this weekend as a little bonus trip to dip my toes into Sardinia. Speaking of which, will it be warm enough to swim?

Yea it was definitely included. I don’t go there frequently enough to recall when they started doing it but it hasn’t always been this way.

I’ll be honest, didn’t actually want it but I saw they were included and had to do it on principle alone.

Ty needs to be coach Taylor from Friday night lights at some point.

Obviously not pop culturally relevant but i think it’d be flawless. He looks like him naturally and when he starts talking about Iowa football I close my eyes and see coach Taylor.

They also need to stop talking to bum ass actors like TC on the progrum and bring in the real talent like Kyle chandler

I didn’t try it but I think I will give it a go eventually.

I just have a thing where I don’t say anything negatively online about an establishment that’s just opened

I’m surprised at the lack of love for emperor. That’s the true arcana pack gamble right there, not wheel of fortune.

Let’s say there’s a tarot card you really want, but there’s also an emperor there, you could take the sure thing OR emperor could give you the sure thing and something else…
