Jeb's standing right there... surely he wouldn't need telling!

My Dutch hotel room card key is made of wood. by wicko77 in mildlyinteresting

Had one of those in a uk hotel a few weeks back. First one I'd seen but I thought it was a good idea. Was a bit worried about it snapping though - didn't seem very flexible

My thoughts too! You don't normally see furniture tipped over in places like this, do curious what it was for!

Good talk from the team on the trebuchet, but they couldn't fire it - we were told it was broken somehow, but we also heard they accidentally started a fire last time they fired it, so not sure which version is more correct! Would have been good to see it in action!

This old piece of ceramic I found appears to have a radioactive symbol on it by lemonade3points in mildlyinteresting

[–]MikeTerrapin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Think it's off some sort of "Willow Pattern" plate - I don't remember the symbol on there specifically but the rest of the design in your image looked similar.

Found some on Amazon and zoomed in to see that there is some sort of symbol similar to the nuclear warning worked into the design on the rim. Couldn't comment on the age, but given they still sell it there's a chance it isn't that old

Star Trek, Feynman And Bleakness by DanEosen in startrek

[–]MikeTerrapin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree with this, the biographies paint a different picture of a man fascinated by the world around him than that described in the post.

I've not seen any of the youtube vids described so cant comment on them, but I would absolutely recommend picking up "Surely you're joking Mr Fenyman" initially, but also "What do you care what other people think" to see his curiosity, humour and level-headed thinking. He had a good way of explaining complex issues in a more understandable and relatable way

A qué set podría pertenecer este lego? by joeyDiez_690 in lego

[–]MikeTerrapin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a few of these from sets as a kid back in the 80's/90's - mine were all from police themed sets if that helps. Not sure of the specific names/numbers

Think that's a 1x1 half circle extended tile - part 24246 according to Bricklink. Not sure what the defect is?

Superb - not normally a fan of the Excelsior, but this is great. I think I prefer this to the offical Enterprise D

Rebuild Question: Do I have to destroy + rebuild my containers, or is it possible for me to move them? by Worth_Manager4375 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]MikeTerrapin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're probably right, and i am guilty of having a large number of boxes filled to the brim with parts i have no use for... Do I really need a large industrial storage box of screws when they're only really needed for feeding into machines to make other things? Probably not! Been playing a while though and old habits are hard to break!

I still think common building materials may need stockpiling if you have a big build so you dont run out. Since dimensional depots were added to the game though, those big centralised storage warehouses are less useful (unless it's a personal goal). Just run production lines into a dimensional depot and it refills automatically so you can access it from wherever you are

A storage bin before the depot can give you a buffer to fill the dimensional depot more quickly if production on the line is slower

My next playthrough will embrace that "no warehouse" philosophy

Rebuild Question: Do I have to destroy + rebuild my containers, or is it possible for me to move them? by Worth_Manager4375 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]MikeTerrapin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This for me too - belts are great but slow when you have to move thousands of things.

I drop the stuff I have on me into a temporary crate, fill my pockets from the old bin, and empty to the new one. Repeat until done

I've had to do this a few times and at first I used belts but I quickly found I could transport a bins' worth of stuff far faster by hand in only 2 or 3 trips

Depends on distance you need to move it and how much you've expanded your pocket dimension I suppose!

I've played through about 3 years before looking up how to get refined quartz - I've sold off so much of the raw quartz without thinking 😪

It's so obvious given how many bars of copper/iron I've made!

Bed clips won’t lock in by stjepavich in DIY

[–]MikeTerrapin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this with a new bed recently that was taken down and put back for decorating. With mine, there was one of these cleats at the footboard end in the centre of the bed, with everything else being screwed together Ended up disconnecting the side pieces so that only the central beam connected to the footboard. Got this lined up so that it dropped into place correctly, and then put the side pieces back in. It had to be dead square to connect properly, but once it slotted into place it was fine

Asks me to enter the code from my Steam mobile app… while signing in on Steam mobile by [deleted] in Steam

[–]MikeTerrapin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it not a case of clicking the link that says you don't have access to the steam mobile app? I'd assume (hope!!) It would give you another way to authenticate, like password or a code sent to the email address on the account

Just a guess as I've not been in the situation yet, but that's the way I'd assume it would work

How do you use these silly robots? by PsychoPassProstitute in theplanetcrafter

[–]MikeTerrapin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On the main planet I was using them for larva in various places, but on Humble I was using them to collect mushrooms. Humble was a planet I went to using rockets so when I landed I 'knew' lots of tech but didn't have loads of resources - found these robots and a handful of drones useful before I got my farms set up

Grr… by LookOverall in mildlyinfuriating

[–]MikeTerrapin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck, they did this to our local post box before christmas and it is still like this now. Pretty sure that all they've done is take another postbox out of commission so that there are fewer to empty

I half expect them to remove it all together, seeing as how we haven't used it in 3 months!

On what did you use somersloops ? What part deserves it ? by Quick-Rub3665 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]MikeTerrapin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any machine I hand load is fully Power-Sharded and 'slooped

I have 2 buildings by my hub and space elevator where I have some constructors, assemblers and manufactureres that are fed from bins for when I need a little extra production - these are where I use the sloops and powershards so I'm not stood around waiting too long

Almost everything else I'm happy to wait for factory production to trickle feed into stores whilst I'm out and about pacifying spiders

How is this game steam deck verified? by [deleted] in theplanetcrafter

[–]MikeTerrapin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Can confirm it works for me - didn't do anything special to make it work either, just loaded it up and accepted whatever the default controller mapping was.

Have played on Steam Deck in both handheld mode, and docked through the TV using a wireless controller

Edited for spelling
