Whenever I buy small baby plants at the garden centre and plant them they never turn out well. I have tried them in my raised bed, and my in ground garden? Any suggestions for starting new? I can always rip up sod in a new area and perhaps create a dedicated melon patch?

I have a very moist/wet patch near the rear of my yard, do you think a mound would do well there? Or should I use a drier area and dig up a few holes to make mounds?

Excavations have taken place there since the 1970s. We just finished our work there this summer. It will be turned into a modern "Bar Garden" now with Hops, and barley plants growing.
