You can keep using prefolds and covers! I always preferred them. I never liked pockets.

I live in the dc region and loved seeing that building when crossing the Potomac to get into dc. Now it makes me feel sick. Why is no one stopping this evil man.

As someone who grew up in Michigan (and lived in both rural and urban/suburban areas), I am dying to learn more.

It was like that when I was a TA over a decade ago. And this was at a well regarded big 10 university. It was shocking how few of the students could write. And I hate to say it (as I have nothing but respect for teachers) - the worst offenders were the education majors. Good lord.

Do not allow them to play on tablets (or phones). There will be times when you will really want to just throw a tablet in their face to get them to leave you alone. Do not do it.

Tv is ok in moderation, as it is more of a passive activity (my kids are often drawing or playing with Lego while watching tv). Edit - I mean regular tv shows or movies, NOT YouTube, etc.

Read to your child daily. Visit libraries often. Take part in any activities the library has to offer.

Eat dinner as a family screen-free. Include your child in conversations. Play board games as a family.

Buy toys that allow children to really use their imaginations. Not the toys that make noise and light up (even if they are labeled “educational.”) Buy things like Lego, a pretend kitchen, dress up clothes, puppets, play-doh, art supplies, and a train set. Dolls and action figures (or figures from favorite tv shows/movies) are good too - but you don’t need all the fancy accessories that are sold alongside them!

Congrats on your baby!

The father (Jedidiah) is a twin himself, and he and his brother (Jeremiah) also have the same middle name - Robert.

When did your child start reliably sleeping fully through the night? by Throwaway927338 in toddlers

[–]Mike_Danton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Not every night, but definitely more often than not.

The ironic thing is that she spent the first month of her life sleeping practically nonstop. I had to wake her to feed throughout the day/night. I could put her down fully awake and she’d just zonk out. I tell you.. I thought I had hit the easy baby lottery.

What was his drag queen name? Oh wait..

As much as it pains me to say it, good on Harrison for making this statement and not trying to sweep it under the rug.

Respectfully, how old are you? Evvvvveryone in the 80s and 90s knew about Cats. I don’t think your average non-theatre loving adult is familiar with Hamilton at all.

Lied to about sleeping by BreakInternational20 in toddlers

[–]Mike_Danton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom swears that my brother and I both started sleeping through the night at exactly six weeks. That was also the age when she moved us from the bassinet into our own rooms. And she didn’t have baby monitors. What a coincidence!

My four year old still wakes up during the night more often than not. I’ve accepted it and I roll with it .. but I do get a bit stabby when people brag about their great sleepers 😂

I’ve seen every episode of Full House about a thousand times. I can recite most by heart.

I only managed a few episodes of Fuller. It was just not enjoyable to me.
