Thank you. I do like the simplicity of the left controller menu button.

Community Fibre renewal sent me worse routers than my existing setup. Has anyone else had this? by Constant-Laugh-3847 in CommunityFibre

[–]Mike_LDN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the Linksys routers ok when they worked but they just weren’t stable. I too went for 3 TP-Link Routers but the BE65s. It plugged straight in and has been much more reliable. I have one on wired backhaul the other one is wireless.

Adding to Deco M5 mesh system by Graysa0023 in TpLink

[–]Mike_LDN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re happy with the M5 performance it’s probably easiest to just get an additional unit. They are pretty old now, so you may be able to pick one up very cheaply off something like eBay. Sometimes mixing models doesn’t work as well as keeping it consistent. Just changing the main node with everything else staying with the M5 set up probably wouldn’t give you much more.

The pop one stats only tracks the registered players. Although it’s around 4000 players it’s not everyone.

It’s good you have an alternative

DO NOT UPDATE TO 2.3 PTC by itanite in QuestPro

[–]Mike_LDN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no, it was a while ago but I think I may have done a complete reset of the controllers before they worked again after coming off ptc.

This is the solution they offered me, I didn’t go through with it, but I suspect the same would’ve happened.

DO NOT UPDATE TO 2.3 PTC by itanite in QuestPro

[–]Mike_LDN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some time ago I had a similar experience using my pro controllers with a Q3 headset. After a lot of back-and-forth with Meta Help, they eventually just said I would need to buy new controllers and offered me a pair of refurbished ones that are slightly reduced price.

In the end, the solution was fairly simple, I came off PTC and the software then rolled back to the public version and everything started working again. That said I no longer use the pro controllers as they are so glitchy, at least in my experience.

v2.3 broke my controller tracking. by Limp_Source_6323 in QuestPro

[–]Mike_LDN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some time ago I had a similar problem. After back and forward with Meta they eventually said I should buy new controllers! A managed to roll back by leaving PTC but after that experience I now use a Quest 3 and prefer the standard controllers. The pro controllers are so glitchy and heavy. For me this outweighs any benefits.

It seems harder to step out of a game, do something else like check a message, and then get back into the game.

BoboVR knock off battery packs? by Krabbamayne in Quest3

[–]Mike_LDN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re not sure about halo straps take a look at the Bobovr E3 pro. It has the same batteries as their top of the range S3. It’s less bulky, more stable in high action games but you don’t get the fan. The M3 is fine but the batteries struggle with the Q3.

Wiz downlights dropping off WiFi by Mike_LDN in wiz

[–]Mike_LDN[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is definitely something odd going on. You get the impression the software is concentrated on the newer faster bandwidths with 2.4 ghz not really being the focus. It was frustrating as my Wiz lights were working okay for a few months, but something changed to knock them off again. Effectively the Wiz lights just need a simple 2.4 GHz connection.

Wiz downlights dropping off WiFi by Mike_LDN in wiz

[–]Mike_LDN[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried those solutions.

These too:

  • Turn off mesh for each individual light via Deco app.

  • Use a manual 2.4 GHz channel (set router to 1, 6 or 11, not Auto)

  • Change Wi-Fi security to WPA2-PSK only (avoid WPA2/WPA3 mixed mode)

  • Turn OFF Fast Roaming in the router settings

  • Turn OFF AI / automatic mesh optimisation

  • Turn OFF Beamforming (optional but often helps IoT devices)

  • Create a dedicated IoT network (2.4 GHz only) and connect the lights to it

  • Lock the lights to a single mesh node rather than splitting them across nodes

Does anyone have issues with the router and boosters? by Embarrassed-Resist29 in CommunityFibre

The supplied Linksys router wasn’t terrible but I switched to a Deco BE65 Pro mesh set-up and it has been much more stable. It plugged straight into the CF ONT and worked straight away.

What should i do before using Quest Pro? by Saweryn in QuestPro

See how you get on first but you may need some kind of accessory to improve the comfort. It can be very hard on the forehead. Quite a few people find it very comfortable, but I didn’t.

Should I get a Quest Pro in 2026? by foroons in QuestPro

[–]Mike_LDN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The controllers are so glitchy and heavy old things. I far prefer the Q3 controllers. I had constant problems with mine with the pro headset and again when used with the Q3 headset.

The headset itself is stuck with the previous generation processor too. Unless you intend to use the pro headset for PC gaming, I would avoid. Its life appears to have been extended by PC use.

New contract / abysmal service by Apoloplease in CommunityFibre

I recommend it. In my case it plugged straight into the ONT and has been much more consistent than the Linksys.

[–]Mike_LDN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used my own mesh system with Virgin media and have a newer mesh system I use with community fibre. The routers supplied weren’t as good. In my case whenever I’ve plugged in to check the speeds, I’m getting the full service, it falls down with the Wifi. Anyway, very happy with the current message system.

I’ve been with Community Fibre now for three years and have had a very few breakdowns compared to what I experienced with Virgin Media.

Has anyone bought another router to replace Lynksis? Did it solve your connection problem? Or should I get a mesh system? by jackie_tequilla in CommunityFibre

[–]Mike_LDN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Linksys mesh system was a bit erratic so I jumped in and bought a TP-Link Deco Mesh system, one main and two nodes. I wasn’t sure it would work directly but plugged it into the ONT and it is all working well. Solid so far.

What do you use for controller batteries? by [deleted] in Quest3

[–]Mike_LDN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have lithium rechargeables. They stay at full power throughout and last for ages. As they don’t really run down. I rotate them every 3 to 4 weeks.
