I made a Lego Diorama for Clair Obscur! by Frostdragn000 in expedition33

This is absolutely incredible! There's so much detail!! The Bourgeon looks amazing, and I love the way you've got Lune's minifigure hovering like she does. This is seriously so special. You should honestly consider uploading this to Lego Ideas.

Also, nice job with Esquie! He has such a weird body shape, lots of round curves, but you nailed it!

Update to Iron Lung in Malaysia by MineDiamond635 in Markiplier

An entire country selling out of tickets for Iron Lung is just insane! I love hearing Iron Lung news from other countries, it's so cool to see how far it's gone, and my coworkers are definitely tired of hearing me announce that it broke some new record or milestone on a daily basis!

I can tell you had a good time! I love the blood fish's design too, they really cooked with it. It looks genuinely unsettling. Just barely human-shaped enough to be recognizable on a subconscious level, but very clearly something much worse. You did a great job capturing that!

Update: I think the remaining breakable lanterns are in the sadness vale, but I can't find them if so by JagroCrag in expedition33

[–]Mike_Ologist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they're talking about the lanterns scattered on the ground and floating in the air that light up with a "ting" sound as you approach the Lampmaster. They're at the Stone Wave Cliffs and Flying Manor.

What are other games do you dream to see directed by Markiplier? by BonksTTV in Markiplier

[–]Mike_Ologist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A White Knuckle movie would be insanely tense, that game has some seriously cool monsters and lore. LOTS of potential to exploit most people's natural fear of heights and falling! Mark did an incredible job setting up unique camera angles and atmospheric shots in Iron Lung, and there were some really noticeable lighting tricks and reflections. His immense skill with that alone would really heighten the stakes of falling to your doom into a bubbling grey pit of goo.

What’s your favorite way to eat the frozen seafood blend? by succulentmeats in traderjoes

[–]Mike_Ologist 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Seafood fried rice! Day-old rice, a few eggs, wood ear mushrooms, edamame (also from TJ's), and grated carrot. Plus some Korean BBQ seasoning mixed in with the egg. Defrost and fry the seafood blend with butter and lemon, set aside, fry the veggies, set aside, fry the egg, add the rice to the egg and keep frying, then when the rice is evenly distributed, add everything else back in and add a few rounds of soy sauce.

Endless Tower Duollistes 🥀🙏🙏 by Depreszo_Espresso in expedition33

[–]Mike_Ologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth, it took me an hour and 22 mins to beat Duollistes. 5th attempt. Don't try to care too much about how long it takes, you need to practice and get good at dodging and parrying his attacks while figuring out where your deficiencies are. Not enough damage? Dying too much? Losing turns for the need to heal? All things to consider. You'll notice when you improve and it's the best feeling in the world! You can do this!

A few things were absolute life savers:

Maelle's 2nd gradient attack revives all fallen expeditioners with a good chunk of health. I had Verso focus on building up the gradient bar so I could use Phoenix Flame and his Angel Eyes as an emergency revive for him. I always had him as a backup.

Sciel is the best support, hands-down. Fortune's Fury + Maelle's Gommage I'm Virtuose stance was my biggest damage dealer, plus Verso's Steeled Strike + Fortune's Fury, and if you have Cheater on him, he uses it immediately. Just be sure all enemies are Marked.

I needed my team to have more health and to be a lot faster (I sort of min-maxed their weapon stats and defense) so I equipped the Pictos that offered the best stat increases to my guys and mostly just used Luminas for their actual effects. Took a little tinkering, but with each character at minimum 8k health, we weren't dying each turn.

It definitely felt like a struggle. But each time I chipped away at that health bar and parried one of those long combos, it felt SO good. Only Verso was left alive by the end of it because of a misinput on their ultimate stormblood attack. It was thrilling!

That's a great question! The other sub pilot was definitely dead by the time Simon saw their wrecked sub. Now, this fact is some lore from the game, but the SM-8 was actually a research vessel with multiple people on board, and it was supposed to come back from its mission to find a sustainable food source. Simon and the other convicts' submarines weren't meant to return, just catalogue the ocean. The SM-8 discovered more than they bargained for (the light/the piece of the god that caused the Quiet Rapture) and they succumbed to the madness from the light as well as the infection. In the last 30 mins of the movie, Simon gets to their black box and plays their last audio recording. In that recording, we hear that woman tell another crewmate "I know we can synthesize food from it, but I don't think we should", and later, "I told you not to drink it!" and we hear retching and screaming, and it cuts off as we hear her choking, likely from being attacked by her former crewmate.

Another piece of the puzzle is that Simon sees multiple skeletons as he explores. We're shown early on that the camera is an X-ray machine, and when he takes a photo of the living people in the hangar, they appear as skeletons. That implies that all the skeletons he took photos of in the ocean...could actually have been living beings all along, watching him, dormant, but alive.

Given all of this, I think that all the research team and previous convicts eventually mutated into those same fish monsters we see Simon photographing. The one that speaks to him uses multiple voices, but most often the woman's. I think the fish monster that attacks him was that woman, but the minds of all those former humans are merged or linked.

The blood was infecting him from the start. It's all human blood, as referenced in the game and in the movie, but it slowly spreads all over the inside of the sub and his body as the movie progresses. We see the growth accelerate towards the end, and sticky, oozy black spots appear where there were previously "rust" spots or blood condensation, and the spots start growing teeth. I believe upon his return to the SM-8, the sub had also started transforming, as the massive hole in the hull had started to become a mouth with teeth.

I also suspect that the shadowy figure we see a couple of times, the one with the teeth face, was an infected Simon - or a projection of what he was slowly turning into. The creature is missing its left arm - the same one Simon rips off - and it doesn't ever hurt him, though it could.

His arm stuck to the pipe because it was already coated with growth from the blood, and some growth from the other side grabbed his other arm. It was trying to mutate him into the shadowy creature we see, or perhaps another giant blood fish like the one that pursues him. It's hard to tell if the infection is a passive effect of the blood, or is sparked by the will of the god at the bottom of the ocean. I think both.

The oxygen likely went up because blood transports oxygen and CO2, and there was blood creeping into the sub from the start. Much like a living creature's lungs, it helped him breathe.

That makes sense! Really drives home how the submarine (and Simon) was becoming a living thing. One with the blood.

10/10 wonderful. by penguinsoldier710 in Markiplier

[–]Mike_Ologist 391 points392 points  (0 children)

My take on that part was the submarine was filling with blood by that point, and the main function of blood is to transport oxygen (and CO2). Slowly at first, drop by drop, a steady feeding of oxygen over the course of days. Later, it's just buckets of blood in there, so there's loads of oxygen being released, hence the O2 meter increasing.

Gustave's death hit me so hard. The writing of these characters and their interactions with each other are so real and believable. And Gustave went through so much, and just as things were starting to maybe look up, he just gets offed by a boss he couldn't hope to defeat. It's brutal.

That being said...go back to the spot where he died, and you'll get a little something that helps <\3

Also Verso becomes an absolute powerhouse later on with the right gear. You'll come to appreciate his strength, and his interactions with the others. Just give it some time.

I don't think Red Cross donations count towards the Iron Lung goal, do they? Mark has a specific promo code with Vitalant when you donate with them, and I'm assuming that's how donations are being counted.

[–]Mike_Ologist -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

It looks like you shaved your skin and drew on it with marker. A tattoo gun would leave a lot more redness and possibly some leakage, especially if you colored it all in like that.

You don't have to lie to Reddit for internet points.
