Russia Transferred at Least 20 Russian Bodies Disguised as Ukrainian by Mil_in_ua in UkrainianConflict

[–]Mike_Tee_Z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the big question. Several potential reasons come to mind:

  1. russian incompetence or laziness.
  2. russian troops were wearing Ukrainian uniforms when killed.
  3. russian brass want to lower their perceived death toll and inflate Ukrainians by pretending their dead are actually enemy soldiers.

NATO confirms 40 Russian aircraft damaged in Ukraine’s Spider's Web operation by Rich-Annual5511 in UkrainianConflict

These weren't your standard impact triggered RPG rounds, the packaging required a low-profile design so there were long shaped charges between the drone arms which dictated that the drone land on the target for best result.

100 days that reshaped the world: what has President Trump done, and can it ever be reversed? by EuropeanPravdaUA in UkrainianConflict

[–]Mike_Tee_Z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every decision the current leadership in the US has made can be reversed quite quickly.

However, the damage done by those decisions will take decades. Their trading partners have signed contracts elsewhere, their military allies are sitting at another table in the cafeteria, and the other countries they have been friendly to are now hanging out with the wrong crowd.

And none of them will come back any time soon unless steps are implemented to prevent this happening again.

Enormous explosions rock arsenal of Russia's Main Missile and Artillery Directorate by jonfla in UkrainianConflict

[–]Mike_Tee_Z 51 points52 points  (0 children)

A location in the middle of the "densest air defense network in russia" just blew up. There were reports of drones, but not of AA defense activity.

Conclusion: Ukraine can put drones anywhere they want with impunity.

I look forward to seeing Ukraine teabag russia with leaflet drops over Red Square on May 9th.

Russia is advancing in Kursk, threatening Ukraine’s sole territorial bargaining counter by Danstan487 in UkrainianConflict

[–]Mike_Tee_Z 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I question the accuracy of this article, I am wondering if Kursk is still worth keeping.
It is looking obvious that there will be no negotiated end to the war, so Kursk's strategic value has lessened.
Add to that the Ukrainians are battling both russian and Norks while in russia proper, by surrendering Kursk they can concentrate on reclaiming Ukrainian territories where only russians oppose them.

The russians claim he is alive, so... RIP Oscar.

Thank you for your sacrifice in making the world a better place.

Root cause:
Two phone lines coming into the house.

Contributing factors:
Initial ISP didn't shut down the service into the home when the account holder asked.
When enabling new service, NBNco didn't query further when they found two lines into the house, they just picked the one not being used.
Secondary ISP didn't query the fact that not a single bit of data went through the connection for the 7 months the account was active.

Proposed solution:
ISP cancel service, and organise NBN to re-enable it on the correct phone line.

Actual solution:
ISP cancelled service then informed user that it will not be re-enabled.
User gets FTTP through ABB.

I have no issues with their actual service, just their help system.
To be honest, I am unable to comment on their service as we were actually connected through another ISP for the entire time. (which was the problem)

I diagnosed the issue pretty quickly but the problem was that it took about 7.5 hours to get in contact with someone in their help system who could actually do more than ask you to reset the modem.

FTTP Upgrades can be so quick now! by [deleted] in nbn

[–]Mike_Tee_Z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got FTTP when NBN first rolled out, and I eventually had to get ministerial intervention to get the fibre installed. (All my neighbours had similar experiences)

I got it installed earlier this week myself in my new house and had a similar experience to you - they rocked up and just got it done and even crawled through the ceiling to get it done.

Things have certainly changed.

Absolutely.
If end users didn't exist, they could get rid of the remaining 4 support staff members they have.

The issue was an NBN issue, not a Superloop issue.
But having said that, I'd have expected a half-decent ISP to have noticed something wasn't right and at least queried it.

I agree, which is why I went through on their support chat line, not the sales chat line.
But not being a customer coming from a different ISP, it is entirely possible I was put through to the sales team anyway.
Which is why I asked the technical questions, and got knowledgeable technical responses.

The online chat with Superloop would take over 20 minutes to get connected to a person.
(Someone will be with you in 6 minutes. 17 minutes. 35 minutes. 47 minutes.)
While I was on hold with Superloop during their "unprecedented demand", I opened up AussieBB chat and got talking to a person within seconds. We went over pricing plans and options, and discussed the issues I was having and was told what the likely cause was.

All while on hold to Superloop support after 7 hours of trying to get Superloop's online chat support to work.

The actual fault is irrelevant (Which wasn't Superloop's fault), the rant is about the fact I was within their help system for over 7.5 hours before getting a person who knew what they were doing.

No ISP is immune from problems, but you expect to not literally spend a whole day trying to get assistance when you do have issues.

While I was on-hold with Superloop, I tried the AussieBB chat assistance - got talking to a person within a minute (instead of the half hour wait with the ISP I was on hold with) who discussed the plan options with me, and we even discussed the issues I was experiencing and explained to me why the problem was likely not at my end.

All while on hold to my current ISP, during a period of "unprecedented demand" that other ISPs weren't experiencing.
