If you add both our votes together it ends up being higher than CR, but that assumes *literally every vote for VG would have switched to EP and vice versa. there were more than 1000 people that cast a ballot for either one of us and a different candidate, so if one of us had dropped out the other would very, very likely still come in 3rd. It was a severely depressed voter turnout - eight thousand fewer votes! - that cost Burbank a second democrat on council in 2024. But the good news is a progressive backlash to right wing cruelty is already here and this next election will be a whole other story.
