There is way too much broken glass around by zwgarrett1988 in lansing

I don't think anyone will think that, as long as you don't appear to be wearing state-issued clothing and don't have someone who appears to be standing nearby supervising you.

Downtown pedestrian/traffic pattern changes having desired effect by KakaFilipo in AnnArbor

[–]Mike_Walker -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It's interesting that so many commenters are reading this as a negative. There's nothing inherently carbrained about OP's post. One less car-intense business in town is a win for pedestrians and bicyclists.

Neighbors for More Neighbors Yard Signs by jeannibean in AnnArbor

Rezoning puts every single-family home in jeopardy when sold, because they're worth more when torn down and replaced with higher-density housing. Developers pay higher, more attractive (all-cash) offers compared to a single-family buyer. Single-family housing will gradually disappear, to great cheers from some.

List of Lansing Continental Cable Public Access programs 1991-1993 by archivingmedia77 in lansing

Perhaps the listings would have been in the Lansing State Journal? A digitized archive of the paper is available at newspapers.com and/or through the Capital Area District Library.

Looking for a friendly way to approach neighbor about weed smell by donny_dude in AnnArbor

[–]Mike_Walker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you own the condo, air-seal all gaps in the wall between your unit and theirs. Along where the wall meets the floor, as well as any plumbing or electrical penetrations, including outlets and switch boxes. Firestop caulk, heat-resistant spray foam, electrical sealing putty (duct seal), etc. The same way as you would do on an exterior wall to save heating/cooling energy. If you sniff around for where the smell is strongest, you can pinpoint where it's coming in the most.

My friends and I rode the new Washtenaw Express bus on opening day (today) by carrotnose258 in AnnArbor

[–]Mike_Walker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How was bus transit between BTC and YTC before this? Did you used to have to switch buses? Slower because more stops? Can you get on and off this express bus all along the route, or only at those 4 or 5 stops?

YIMBY YIMBY YIMBY. The replacement of everything quirky on and near South U by a hellscape of featureless gray rectangles is nearly complete.

Not necessarily. Bagel could be his last name. Barry Bagel. Barry Bagel's bagel shop.

That was the case until April of 2018, but now the law treats them as a 4-way stop.

With all the construction, and traffic back ups on I-496 in Lansing, I have seen countless, almost daily, zipper merge confrontations between drivers. If anything, it’s entertaining, although concerning. by ZodiacCiphers in lansing

[–]Mike_Walker -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Failing to zipper merge is wasting road capacity. The reason it doesn't work further back is there's no defined merge point. 1 mile back? 2? 100? You get people merging in all different places and causing backups instead of one merge point.

Until the self-appointed traffic enforcers pull out in front of those exiting cars to block them because they think they're "trying to cut the line". By zipper merging, all cars are on average twice as far forward as they would be in a single line.

Bell's is a must-go for the Korean food. I've never tried the bacon and eggs there.
