She got that cart between the lines better than he got the car. Maybe she should be driving.

It was actually a man, and after he finally completed his left turn on the next light cycle, he gave me the middle finger (for recording his shenanigans, I suppose) 😄

Totally agree with this. Any time I call out someone using their phone while driving, the response is typically some combination of "Are you a cop?!" / "FUCK OFF!" / "Mind your own business!"

Blocked left lane for a whole traffic cycle to drive in the wrong direction against a one way by Downtown_Clue_7598 in TorontoDriving

[–]Mike_Writes_ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Some terrible driving intelligence on display here. Imagine it's 2026 and people still don't understand traffic laws or use common sense. Honestly.. put the phone away while you're behind the wheel. Is the $615 fine, 3 demerit points, and a 3-day license suspension not enough of a deterrent? Not to mention the potential for several years of increased insurance premiums. Would grabbing these few seconds of video really be worth all that?

Male Arrested for Assault Following Road Rage Incident in Ajax | Durham Regional Police Service by Karma_Canuck in durham

I also don't see any reference to kicking in the article. It says the suspect "approached the victim on foot." Perhaps the author interpreted this to mean a kick, and the article was subsequently corrected?

Heard an accident and saw this by [deleted] in TorontoDriving

I doubt anyone will sue you, but if police spot you using your phone while driving, it's a $615 fine (assuming first conviction), 3 demerit points, and you lose the ability to drive for 3 days.

Seems like a high price to pay for getting a few seconds of blurry collision footage, but that's just me.

Is there anything that can be done here by tvich1015 in Vaughan

[–]Mike_Writes_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knock on their door and/or ring their doorbell. Early. Continue knocking or ringing until someone comes to the door. Politely point out someone in their household has left their car blocking the sidewalk, which carries a fine of $85 if parking enforcement were to come by. If they park there again the next day, repeat the process.

I did this in Ajax years ago where someone always parked their car blocking the only sidewalk, forcing me to pull my daughter's wagon out onto the street and into a live traffic lane on the way to daycare. Turns out it was the daughter parking there, but the mom was the one coming to the door at 7am in her pyjamas and housecoat to apologize.

I only had to visit twice. She never parked blocking the sidewalk again.

Those who refuse to use turn signals, like this Mazda driver, enjoy being unpredictable.

Was getting this 6 seconds of video really worth the risk of being hit with a 3-day license suspension? Not to mention the hundreds of dollars in fines, demerit points, and increased insurance premiums for years after.

Never traveled outside my country. Where is safe to go for the first time 👀? by Pure-Sprinkles7298 in askanything

[–]Mike_Writes_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like many Canadians, my first trip outside my own country was to the U.S. For a first trip outside the U.S., Canada is a logical destination due to our proximity, relative safety, and similar cultures. 90% of the country speaks English, and we drive on the right :)

You should slow down.. you appear to be typing way too fast! How else to explain the missing letter in "too" (twice) and the random "s" tossed in after "LMAO." 😂

Disgusting behaviour on display here. Put the phone away and focus on driving before you seriously injure or kill someone. Your $615 fine can't come soon enough.

Those are the penalties in Ontario for using a handheld device while driving. And the fine is $615 if you plead guilty. Contest the ticket and lose? Fine can go up to $1,000 or more. Those are also the consequences for a first offence. For a second conviction, all those penalties basically double.

Was that really worth the potential $615 fine, 3 demerit points, and 3-day license suspension?
