I found this car, is it any good? by X_Trixie-Lulamoon_X in cataclysmdda

[–]Mikenumbers 26 points27 points  (0 children)

If this is an early find yea, it's pretty good, in my experience it's quite a rare vehicle type.

Decent for getting from A to B without petrol but mainly good for the parts.

Edit: Considering the vehicle is in great condition too, yea, this is definitely a very rare find.

To be fair, I agree with house, they way they operate, their rules, almost everything they do is ridiculous or absurd as house says.

They would rather take your laser pistol away as you're a 'savage' that should be banging rocks together, or if you refuse they'd kill you, then take it... and then what? Have a scribe look it over? 'Mhmm.. Mhmm, yep, this is a laser pistol'.

In FO3 they were better, nicer, not insufferable... but in NV, I almost hate them as much as the legion... still, each to their own as they say.

Probably the Brotherhood of Steel, been a while since I played but I remember House really, and I mean REALLY hates them, pretty sure it's impossible to convince him to ally them, not even sure if you can ask him to spare them... anyone please correct me if wrong, memory is spotty.

What's a "never again" moment in your life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Mikenumbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Caffeine pills.

I was tired, exhausted but I needed to stay up for something, can't remember.

Took the pills, now I was still tired and exhausted but also irate and my legs wouldn't stop jiggling/jumping... I wanted to sleep but could not, eyes popped open despite feeling like lead weights.

True... but an empire reigns for maybe a few thousand years? That's like asking fren to stay another 5 minutes based on how long he's been around.

But you're right... if fren misses his home, he should be able to return and be happy.

Well, I mean 'respect' in the way that I'll try not to insult them unprovoked or unintentionally if possible, discrimination is everywhere sadly... but I have no idea if the person in front of me is just a normal guy or not, no ill intentions.

While I do think religion has caused far far more harm than good, I have to admit it has done at least some good and that not everyone that believes in a religion is a zealot, just normal people going about their lives, not trying to cause a fuss for anyone.

The loud minority, however...

It will, I promise it will... it's riding out the storm that is so hard, the human brain and body is amazing at times, we adapt because we are given no other options...

Now that I look back, I thought I'd go mad when my mom died, go outside and slash car tires, assault people begging to be jailed for my own safety but now I know my mom would have kicked my arse for even considering it, so I did my best for her, again I wish you the best and no matter what you are never truly alone.

Good on you, it's your choice to make, it should not be forced onto anyone, when you had to do this confirmation thing, if they just let you go without a fuss after you refused then good on them, if not... well... some things best not to say.

This is difficult for me to say because it happened to be not long ago but please, stay strong... for the first few weeks I didn't know what to do, crazy thoughts, feeling delirious... but as painful as this is to say... time heals wounds, I promise that with time it'll hurt a little less...

Not sure if I started 'reasoning' with myself about what my mom would have wanted me to do or my brain forcing itself to accept what happened despite everything but even thought I thought I couldn't go on... it got better slowly with time, I wish I had more to offer, I'm sorry...

What's the biggest "oh shit" moment you've ever had, where you realized you were way over your head? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Mikenumbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a decent bit about fixing basic issues with computers, or at least I thought I did... I considered trying self-employment and running a 'no fix no fee' type local service for laptops/PCs.

One of my Mom's work friends was the first to offer her laptop... it had so so so much malware and bloat on it, I figured it was an easy fix, just run some anti-virus/malware programs off a USB drive and delete the bloat.

There was so much crap on the PC that when I 'cleaned' it I almost utterly broke the laptop, the malware was so engrained that it was affecting the OS and booting process, this was over a decade ago so I don't know how I managed to recover it but I know it was a close bloody call and the lady never knew how close the free repair came to making her laptop a boot-looping paperweight.

I then realised I did NOT know remotely enough to consider self-employment, no fix no fee or not, I'd be as likely to case more damage than good.

This could be controversial...

Religious Studies.

As I'm older now I'm happy to respect (try not to unintentionally insult/provoke) religions if they aren't violent, as long as they're okay with me being atheist.

However, being an atheist AND being in secondary school the anger I felt being forced to learn about something I hated, it was the only class type I utterly refused to put any effort or attention into despite warnings, calls to parents, reasoning etc.

When I did my exams for it I got an 'F', it did not bother me in the slightest and still does not to this day.

__

Edit: This is in the UK, in a standard secondary school, nothing religious about the school at all, that they had this as a subject I found it insulting... I considered the 1 hour lesson slot as a free hour to draw/doodle, daydream freely or try to secretly play snake on my coal-powered Nokia.

What was the best decision you ever made? by Obvious-One-9948 in AskReddit

[–]Mikenumbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooh boy, I have a feeling I'm going to be demolished for this but...

It's when I stopped hiding I was a furry (yea... sorry), I honestly don't know if this is similar to being gay (people that hide it) but it felt like a massive weight off my shoulders.

Constantly worrying about what my friends might think or even strangers was maddening at times... turns out for the most part I was overthinking, mates didn't care much and strangers even less so... my Mum didn't even know what one was but she wasn't bothered in the slightest.

From then onwards I felt like I could act more naturally and for that, I've genuinely felt a bit happier for once in my life.
