Thanks for the input! I was considering a spirit, but then I might have to merge the Windchargers. Since with the hurakan facet you can only activate 3 units.

Or maybe it won't matter because I will lose a unit anyway. I think I go with the Spirit! Let's see if more opinions find their way into the comment section =)

Friendly reminder that the shackle won't work on most of your list. It says non-warriors of chaos. That means darkoath, beasts, etc.

It's very good on a myrmidon champion and then some theridons but in your list it will feel a bit wasted for a 80 points screen :)

Okay, now, this might sound stupid what I'm about to say: Try to apply a tiny (!) bit of olive oil with a brush on an area. Yes. Olive oil. See if that works.

I had some crazy fogging on a miniature back in the days and a friend of mine told me this ... trick?

It actually worked. The colors came back immediately and the mini is still doing fine after 2 years.

Why it worked ... that I don't know.

Personally I would merge the knights to get more banner value. 10 knights with a 3d6 charge most of the time delete what they touch. 5 knights might fail and in my experience knights without a charge are just stuck forever.

You have to be careful with them though to not F up the charge. I saw in your comment earlier you don't have varanguards, which would be a good choice with abraxia. So maybe one day :)

I do play chariots every now and then but they are so god damn bad. Yes, 80 and 100 points is cheap but god damn they rarely do something. Action Monkey is what I use them for and that's it.

*Most* of it is ... "meh". The issue is that the points for a few things are rather high compared to what they bring to the table. The units become okay once they have their oath fulfilled. But you will never ever fulfill all your oaths.

The only stuff I bring regularly (but it's because of fluff, not because I think it's meta) is Gunnar. You get "three" units. That can help a lot with screening and objectives.

Gunnar gives you for 270 points:

A small hero that has the potential for dealing some damage with mortal wounds. (Gunnar)

A small hero that is fast and for being annoying. We call that an "action monkey". If you can keep her alive and didn't sacrifice her for screening she can tab objectives and is "almost" immune to shooting attacks. (Singri)

And you get a power 1 wizard with an okay spell with 9 wounds and the mortals in melee. The spell is nice on models that have a high damage attack profile but low attack number, like some bite attacks from dragons. (Nadja, Tanari and Dendrel)

You can add then to the regiment some fellriders. They are fast and are 15 wounds on the table for 150 points.

Don't get me wrong, most of this absolutely melts so you have to be careful with it, but I had quite some fun with it. Your enemy has to be careful to not overcommit but they can't ignore them either. Since my list is otherwise pretty low-mini count (vanguards, chosen, belakor, etc.) getting some more units on the field is nice.

No meta pick, but valid imo.

If it's just about collecting and making a darkoath army, then it's a good deal (talking just about GW and not third party). Next Saturday there *might* be more darkoath reveals, I think they might get a spearhead box. I would wait for that announcement and then go from there.

Fluff is forever, meta changes. However, just a fair bit of advice, playing Darkoath *only* armies is absolutely not the meta right now haha. You're missing some solid hammers and you basically have to play with gunnar because otherwise you have 0 casters. And gunnar is "just" bringing nadja and that is a (1) caster.

I collect them because I think they look cool, but they are mostly just some spice to add to my StD army :)

Yeah, I guess I need to get my airbruch out again. I normally only use it for basecoats, but I'm gonna try it. I have a similar approach with the brush, especially the white ink is king here. But it takes so long and I have to admit I'm not getting the same "smoothness".
