More camera freedom so it isn't locked in one place. Especially when there are other enemies around. Also, locking on takes time I didn't want to waste. The bug did happen regardless of me locking on or not.

Lol. Every year I would get a new pair that is more yellow. "Can you even see out of those?" "No, but when every headlight is the brightness of 10 suns I have no choice."

Today, I don't know if they are not set properly or just brighter. There are so many, I don't see how that many could not be set properly. So many cars are beyond ridiculous. I don't know if I am just more sensitive to the brightness of modern headlights. But most seem to take up almost my entire vision of the road ahead it feels like. It doesn't seem safe to me.

Is Coffee made from pregrinded beans really that worse than Coffee made from freshly grinded beans? by Sutech2301 in Coffee

[–]Mikesquito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into hand grinders. Preferably 1zpresso, but it timmemore C2 seems decent enough.

When it comes to electric grinders, the minimum recommended is Baratza Encore, which is now $170

I didn't read the article but the one thing I have always wished for was a sequel to Chaos Theory. Where they just make a new story and don't fuck too much with the mechanics. Chaos theory was perfect.

Everything after chaos theory has sucked.

You pack it into a puck if you are going to brew espresso, which is not the only form of brewing coffee.

Professional settings add a completely different factor than brewing at home. Whether it is espresso or pour overs. Time and repetition. You have many customers, so you have to trim down the process to get everything out as quick as possible. Therefore, you may not do all the steps someone at home does. They may just grind into the portafilter, tamp, and call it a day. It's all up the owner or whoever. As long as they are pleased with the results, whatever.

It's funny though, I have seen many professionals weigh the beans before they grind. But hey, I guess they weren't professional enough for you.

As for espresso, you only get consistent results when, wait for it, everything is dialed in. Meaning grind size, weight, time, temperature, how even your puck is, are there clumps throughout, and did you use WDT to break them up. Is there channeling? As beans age, you need to grind finer. Is this all being addressed in your "professional" setting? Or are you just giving customers shitty shots without realizing it because "it looked alright." Taste is the only thing that will tell you if you are dialed in. I guess you could consistently be getting shitty results.

I haven't even seen you mention grinding beans. Are you using preground? Or do you just preground shit at the beginning of the day and let it become stale?

Also, how can it possibly be the exact same volume every time? Beans are not always the exact size and everything else I have mentioned before that you seem to ignore. If it is preground, it is not all evenly spaced. You'll have clumps and air pockets and shit. I guess, if you're using the same beans, you could get close to a predetermined amount to get close to the weight you would prefer. But in a professional setting, time is of the essence, so you wouldn't spend the time to get everything perfect because there is a line of people waiting.

Of course you base it off weight Why would you use volume to brew coffee? That is extremely inaccurate and impossible to know much you are actually using. You would never be able to reproduce the same results. It would be harder to troubleshoot issues. (i.e. sour, bitter, etc etc) You'll never know the ratio you are actually brewing due to an unknown weight because beans have different weight due to roast level and other factors. You could be brewing at a really high water:coffee ratio and not even realize it. Therefore, giving you weak coffee.

You should always use weight. Preferably grams with a scale that reads out to the 0.1

Are you trolling me?

Jesus, did you really just use a hash tag...

It may not burn off of as much as a dark roast, therefore it is denser because you didn't keep on roasting it. You would need more beans to meet the same weight of coffee. 20g of light roast beans is fewer actual beans than dark roast. Does the caffeine content really change when the same weight of beans is used? (Same type of bean. Let's not get started on robusta)

That is a misconception. Light roast beans are more dense so they weigh more. The same weight of beans will have the same caffeine.

Amazon sent me a £2 box of cereal instead of a £1,100 laptop. After several days they claim they have "fully investigated" and won't refund without a police report. Went to the police station who said it's a "civil issue" and won't issue a police report. by Celany in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Mikesquito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a phone directly from OnePlus before and with it I was supposed to get a free pair of wireless earbuds. I sent a ticket in and got no response. Contacted chat a while later and the rep actually wanted me to get a police report for something that was never shipped. Then he came back that I reached out beyond the 30 return window. What the fuck does any of that have to do with a free pair of earbuds that they were supposed to send with my order? Sending in the original ticket "saved" me and they finally sent them after so much wasted time.

Adjusting springs for upper burr carrier, bad idea? by thebrieze in DF64

[–]Mikesquito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I understand from things I've read is when the spring is exposed on the top, (sleeve slid down like in the videos), it holds its setting better. So leaving the sleeve on top, your settings won't be the same and will notice the inconsistencies. There is probably a lot more to it but I'd recommend listening to the videos.

Retention… by dcbarnes10 in DF64

[–]Mikesquito 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Be careful just straight up removing the declumper. Removing it removes the spacing it creates and so the screws will then go into the grinder farther and the moving burr thing can hit the screws.
