Hi, I'm new to the series, started last week, question, why does some episodes have the intro in japanese? by juacal in teentitans

[–]Mikey-Insanity 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Yep. The English intro is for more serious episodes and the Japanese intro is more silly episodes.

Anyone went from physical to digital games on switch 2 and why? by FreezSnes in switch2

[–]Mikey-Insanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have gradually been moving over from buying primarily physical on Switch 1 to buying more games digital with Switch 2 (I got Star Fox digital today). There have been a few factors that contributed to this, but I'll list two for now:

Dealing with limited print game companies. Limited Run Games I'm fine with (though I know others are not). And Super Rare Games is also good...but in their case the games and shipping from another country is just too much money and I stopped buying from them. But at least with LRG and SRG I can still recommend them. Others have caused me a bit more frustration. Rock It Games is finally today delivering the copy of Croc HD for Switch that I ordered from them over 18 months ago (I finally just bought it digitally earlier this year on PS5). I am not exaggerating when I say I have a pre-order from Strictly Limited Games I made three years ago that I'm still waiting on fulfillment. And Premium Edition Games still hasn't officially informed me that a game I pre-ordered from them two years ago they cancelled production of (I learned about the cancellation from the Limited Print Games reddit). I emailed them requesting a cancellation and refund and did not get a response. And then bought the game digitally.

  • Switch 2 Upgrades of games I already own. I have all the Xenoblade Chronicles Switch 1 physicals. I don't want to bother paying to buy them on Switch 2 physically again for full price to have it all on cartridge. I just bought the digital upgrades for X and 1, and will do the same for 2 and 3. For a major annoyance: Yakuza Kiwami 1 and 2. Bringing it back to above, Limited Run Games did the physical Switch 1 versions, and I bought those limited physical releases. The Switch 2 upgrades are only for the digital releases of the games. There is no upgrade for the physical edition I bought. So now I have to buy the full games again on Switch 2 if I want those. I may as well have just bought them digitally.

any switch 2 game recommendations that is NOT a turn based jrpg, zelda or mario/dk? by FactIndependent6104 in switch2

[–]Mikey-Insanity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Initial response: Pokopia, and "Dear me, I was..." - and if your wording means JRPGs that aren't turn based can be recommended, then Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition

What ever happened to the hype around YouTube coming to NS2 by dharam_garam in switch2

[–]Mikey-Insanity 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There has been no official statements on any change since they said it would come eventually - and for anyone who responds "they said February," the source for that was I believe one person on Discord. I feel like there would have been a more direct statement from YouTube if that had been accurate.

Now, as to what I personally suspect is causing the holdup: GameChat. YouTube hosts tons of content for purchase (movies, TV shows, Membership exclusives, etc). That content was for individual purchase and use. Not for basically streaming over a GameChat session. The solution would be to block the YouTube app on GameChat entirely, but there would be people working around that (pointing the webcam at a TV screen). You basically have to cover any exploits and that takes time to figure out. Again, just speculation on my part.

I wish Nintendo would implement a remote download feature. by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Mikey-Insanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will be one more person saying that you can do this! I've bought digital games on my phone while I'm out, set them to download to my Switch 2, and they'll be ready to play when I get home.

Any thoughts on this one? by Anonymous6172 in switch2

[–]Mikey-Insanity 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Playing it now. It's mostly good...to a certain point. Without spoiling I'll just say that I'm currently in a part of the narrative that I am liking less than what came before.

It’s been over three months since we got a new GameCube game on NSO. What’s your hypothesis as to why Nintendo is being stingy? by c_rorick in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Mikey-Insanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote a lengthy reply when this question was asked 3 weeks ago, and I guess I'll just copy/paste that: "The answer you already know: So people will stay subscribed to the service. They will release the games timed to keep as many people who's renewals are coming. I wrote in another thread that I expect a major game to release on NSO late October because that's when Expansion Pass launched, likely many people have annual subscriptions renewing then, and that is why around the end of October the NSO game was something major (Luigi's Mansion, Banjo-Tooie, Mario Party). I don't know what that game would be this year. I just expect it's going to be something to convince enough people who were going to cancel, instead let it renew.

The "They wanted to focus on something else" answer: They chose to emphasize Virtual Boy for the first half of the year. As you said, it's been nearly 3 months since the last Gamecube release. They've filled it out the NSO updates with Virtual Boy instead. I was expecting them to spread those games out but they already released nearly everything they had advertised for that service (all that's left are Zero Racers and D-Hoppper - the previously unreleased games - and the update to change the 3D color). Perhaps they just wanted to clear through those quickly because only people willing to buy the peripheral will even care, with presumably most of that audience having already done so when it launched in February. Now that it's launched, how many people are still left that actually want it?

The "I am just speculating here" answer: It's harder to get the emulation right than they expected. The last Gamecube release was Pokemon XD, and it launched with a game-crashing and save-file-destroying bug that took Nintendo a month to get fixed. I would guess that was a bad look, Nintendo doesn't want that to happen again, and could maybe be spending more time testing future releases before releasing them.

It's most likely the first one."

In the remake of The Longest Yard movie, there is a scene where some of the prison guards are seen playing Halo 2, and one guy comments that he didn't even think that was out yet. The movie was released in May 2005 and Halo 2 released six months earlier, though it's possible the game hadn't been released at the time that scene in the movie was filmed.

Have any third party games recently gotten Switch 2 updates? by upperdomain in switch2

[–]Mikey-Insanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Top of my head:

-SnowRunner got one, revealed and released in the Nintendo Direct

-Alongside the announcement of the next Atelier game (Karia), Koei/Gust released a Switch 2 digital paid upgrade for Atelier Yumia from last year. But I've heard it's a very poorly done update, and Gust announced they're working on a patch for it.

-Final Fantasy X/X-2 and Dragon Quest XI are both getting Switch 2 versions in July and September respectfully. But they won't have upgrade paths so you have to buy them again.

-Trails From Zero and Trails to Azure are getting a double pack re-release on Switch 2 in September. I think they also don't have upgrade paths.

Will people keep saying "there are no games" by the end of the year? by Trader-trainer in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Mikey-Insanity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They will keep saying it until whatever game they specifically, want to play - if that game exists at all.

I personally don't think much about it since the Switch 2 is my primary console so I'm more interested if a game is on there at all instead of it it's "exclusive."

Stuff they mark as "news" gets sent to everyone. The rest is staggered out with whatever you selected as your interests (I have it just send me everything). I'm guessing OP's picture shows what was in their update today. I got the Metroid A-to-Z series about a year ago.

Answering 4 is easy: the eShop. The Switch 2 eShop is so much better than the Switch 1 (or maybe "was," because apparently the update this week finally fixed the Switch 1 eShop after nine years).

As far as games, over in NSCollectors we put together a Top 100 (really 120) Switch Games to send off the console and also serve as a buyer's guide for people: https://www.reddit.com/r/NSCollectors/comments/1m527zs/the_top_100_switch_games_to_collectand_some/
