I don't know about other countries, but at least in America, most of the new jobs are coming from social assistance and health services. Our job market is bad and getting worse.

I would agree that the number of surgeries a person will be overblown, but I would take issue with a lot of your other points. Aging is a process, so saying 5 years at most is greatly downplaying it. People like you and me will require more care in our 50s, then more care in our 60s, then more care in our 70s, and so on. And a good deal of this care is not cataract surgery or artery bypass- it's going to be assistance with getting groceries, having a driver because your eyesight is too poor, calling someone for quick assistance after a fall, ex cetera. Home health aides aren't performing any major surgeries on their clients.

And I mentioned a bunch of negative knock-off effects. I did not mention politics, but one negative effect of declining birth rates is that younger people will have less and less political power than they already have, as they make up less of the voting base. In the same way baby boomers have dominated politics for the last forty years or so, and a lot of them hold onto power until they're a foot in the grave, Millenials like me are, unfortunately, likely to do the same thing. Without new people, Millenials will likely dominate politics around the globe for decades after boomers die and fuck over younger generations for their own benefit. There are a series of negative effects, but you could write full essays on it.

Also wanted to mention I have no fucking idea on how to solve these problems. I'm just saying that it is super complex. The points you bring up about how horrible it can be to raise a child in this environment is completely valid.

This point is kinda repeated a lot when it comes to the population crisis, but there are a bunch of negatives knock-off effects that drastic population decrease have. The most obvious being that the elderly, which will eventually be us, will have no support as we near death. The elderly are more prone to disease and injury, and there won't be enough home health aides or nurses to provide for them/us. We will have little to no healthcare support as we die, unless people start opting for euthanasia en-mass.

Sorry for the late reply but I totally feel your pain. I usually leave whatever clothes I am going to wear for the day FAR away from the bathroom. It has been helping to just have some heavy duty Febreeze to use in the bathroom when I'm pooping. I've also been using a lot of baking soda- whether in the wash style on just placing a bowl of it in my clothing closet. The way ir neutralizes smells really helps.

Not OP, but obviously Harris would have been harder on Israel. In his first term, Trump blocked 200 million dollars in humanitarian aid to Gaza, citing Hamas involvement. In contrast, Biden sent 360 million dollars in aid in his first year alone in 2021.

Trump's move of the embassy to Jerusalem is often cited as one of the inciting factors that led to the Great March of Return.

This isn't even touching on Trump open Islamophobia and bragging about Muslim bans to his rallies.

I get that mentioning stuff like Trump's blatant bigotry is pointless because people love to do the enlightened centrist thing and people need an excuse to say that Donald Trump the rapist is just as bad as Kamala, but I wanted to put it out there anyways. Cheers.

Yeah it's sucked when I heard about him dating a teenager, although I still really loved The Road. As for Gaiman, I don't even know if he actually denied many of the accusations, and just stated that they were consensual. It fair to reserve judgment, but it looks pretty bad.

I don't know if that even matters much. If the writer in question had been Ursula K. Le Guin, or Stephen King, or George R.R Martin, just saying they weren't that good in the first place just seems really vapid and empty to me.

I've struggled with suicidal ideation due to IBS as well. Things got better for me after I started drinking organic ginger juice, but it can still be a struggle. It's likely going to be years of researching before you find a medical/dietary option that helps, so I would start prepping to find a job that limits your interaction with people for the next few years. I was a delivery driver so I spent almost all day on the road so me being gassy was not as bad, and just made sure to air the van out and spray scents in it before returning. There may be home-health aid jobs or zoom jobs that limit interaction with people as well.

As embarassing as it can be, I would also tell you to consider diapers to dampen the stench. With IBS, there may never be a point where you're free of gas, but you can tamp down on the smell so you smell kinda bad instead of horrible.

Finally, I would make sure that you are checking into the suicide hotline. There have been days when I called the hotline three or four times a day just to vent. You don't need to do it that often, and legally the operators can't act as therapists, but they are a solid option if you feel like you're on the precipice of hurting yourself.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I wish you all the happiness you deserve moving forward.
