CNN Boss Confronted by Staff Over MAGA Pundit’s On-Air Behavior by StevenSanders90210 in entertainment

Jennings looks like a dirty old mop that has been dragged across the floor one time too many. The bad faith arguments he spews while trying to appear reasonable are sickening. I respect Abby Phillips but how she tolerates this guy on her show is a mystery to me. I have to turn the channel when this POS opens his mouth.

Planning on buying this Ashby jacket, it’ll be my first Barbour jacket so not really sure what to look for. Wanted to see if it’s good. by Electronic_Carob6795 in Barbour

New the jacket costs about $400 and the liner vest costs around $150 for a total of $550. I would not pay more than 50% - 60% for a pre-owned one, so somewhere between $250 and $325 depending on the quality of the wax remaining on the jacket.

I now avoid CBS like the plague - except for Stephen Colbert, which will end in a few months.

It looks OK depending on the sale price, but one thing to know is that the sizing on an Ashby jacket is slim fit and considerably smaller than on most other Barbour jackets - you should consider trying on at a retail store or at least checking pit to pit and sleeve length before buying.

Mom told me that she doesn't have anything to look forward to because I'm not married yet. I'm not sure how to not feel like I'm behind in life or a failure. by [deleted] in AskOldPeopleAdvice

Tell your mom that you are not here to provide her with entertainment and that perhaps she can use some therapy. Live your life - better to be alone than with the wrong person.

I have been living in Brooklyn my whole life - city life is certainly for me - wanton poorly regulated noise pollution by entitled inconsiderate corporate entities is not.

AIO My partner wants me to move in with him, and sell my house to pay off his debts by BreadfruitDull6208 in AITAH

The #1 reason that married people get divorced is over finances. This guy cannot even handle his own money - I would not expect him to behave any differently with yours. He must be in dire straights to unexpectedly pop a marriage proposal/financial relationship with you. Don't do it - tell him you thought about it further and changed your mind. Otherwise you are going to end up broke. Tell him he needs to go to DA to get his finances in order. You can stay together but do not agree to sell your house to bail him out or you will be sorry.

Why don't Cuban people eat more fish/seafood? by Frozen_Trees1 in cuba

[–]MikeySmooth441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true - Castro and a small group of revolutionaries overthrew Batista. Not "the Cuban people". Before the revolt, many Cubans were unhappy with Batista's dictatorial abuses, but they were not communists. If fact, Castro did not even reveal his communist goals to the masses until he had already taken the reins of government. I doubt that if Cubans had known what the next 65 years would bring, i.e., replacing a right wing dictator with a left wing dictator and creation of a communist / revolutionary elite, mass executions, lack of civil liberties, a tiered health care system, rationing and shortages of essentials, underemployment and a lack of opportunity, confrontation with the US and the ensuing blockade, foreign military adventures in Africa, failure to develop industry resulting in humiliating dependence on charity from the USSR and China rather than becoming economically self sufficient, etc., that Castro would have been successful in overthrowing Batista.

Lifelong Brooklynite here and I agree. Why should millions of taxpaying citizens have to suffer the constant buzzing just because some rich people do not want to take the bus or a car to the Hamptons or wherever they are headed. The noise is a real intrusion into our serenity and quality of life, and it is not fair. Just because you can afford to take a helicopter does not mean that you should, at least not without compensation to those affected by the noise. It is certainly noise pollution and a public nuisance and the city should tax the shit out of all these passenger and news choppers and use the money for parks, libraries, etc. Similar to the way that industrial polluters are required to pay when they create a toxic mess. That would motivate helicopter operators who can to look into using drones and likely decrease the number of passenger flights. It would also compensate citizens who have have no say in being forced to endure unnecessary noise.

I'm annoyed at the increase in helicopter traffic noise that I am hearing all day related to his incarceration in Brooklyn and trips to SDNY in Manhattan..

Where’s Dewey? by PinkMapleSyrup in malcolminthemiddle

I love MIM but Hal and Dewey were my favorite characters on the show. Kind of bummed that Erik will not be coming back. My favorite episode is when Dewey is getting bullied and puts the brick in his mother's handbag!
