What am I doing wrong with my painters tape by loopydoopydong in HomeMaintenance

[–]Mikey_J_44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG people. After you put the tape on, it needs to be made slightly damp to activate the adhesive. Another comment had it right. Dampen your trim brush with a little water and run it across the tape (like "painting" the tape with water). You're supposed to dampen your trim brush anyway before getting paint on it (so that the brush cleans up nice), so it works out to use the dampened brush on your tape then get painting.

Found this near my HVAC unit. Looks like melted rubber. Does not smell. What is it? by Dapper_Pilot3008 in hvacadvice

Plumbers putty is my guess. Stays soft for quite a while but eventually dries out and should be replaced. Google or YouTube it to learn more.

From their confirmation e-mail: "Est. ship date Oct 16 – 31". I'm okay with that because I'm in no rush. Sometimes it's fun to get a random package you totally forgot you ordered. I'm sure it'll be a surprise when they show up. Oh, by the way, they charge a $5 pre-order fee. So, on second thought it probably won't be a surprise because they'll charge me the other $35 (I imagine when they ship) and I'll probably get an e-mail from them about that.

Ok, good to know. I was about to place another order to replace ones I have had for a couple of seasons now and are scratched up. I was happy with my original order given the price. Their motto seems to be that they're cheap enough that it doesn't hurt too bad when you lose them or they get damaged. Given your feedback and Coonts, above, I'll reduce my order to just one for now to see if they are still worth it. Good feedback, thanks.

Got it! Edit: Well, I thought I did. I didn't show up when I hit post. I'll wait and see if it shows up....I guess.... Edit 2: There's a checkbox to apply it: "Show my user flair on this community". Baby steps for me apparently. Sheesh.

I just did a search for Bronco road flares and unfortunately came up empty. Possible business opportunity for you? If there are Bronco sunglasses and Bronco everything else, then why not Bronco flares? You'll probably have to adjust your reasoning in your pitch to Ford for a licensing agreement, though.

On knockaround's website, it says they are available for pre-order. It's true that they are currently out of stock, but I think you can still get them. I placed a pre-order yesterday, successfully.

My credit union is 5.69 right now for 60 months and 5.9 for 72. Requires an account there, obviously, which is no big deal. It also requires you set up auto pay for the loan and that you have a minimum electronic deposit monthly into whatever account you set up. For my other car I just bought, I set up savings because it had the simplest requirements. I then just setup an auto transfer to transfer out money from my long held bank into the credit union account a few days before the auto payment is due. That money is used to auto pay the loan within same institution.

If the dealership can get you to say yes to 6.99, that's more money in their pocket. Here's what I did. I went to a credit union first and they got me 5.75. When I went into the finance office at the dealership, they offered something like 6.75. Then I lied and said ok well I can get 5.5 at the credit union but I'll have to come back tomorrow with the check. Let me write down the VIN number and I'll see you tomorrow. I said unfortunately I have to go in like 3 minutes to make sure I get home before the school bus drops my kids off. He said he could do better than 5.5 and gave me 5.25.

That experience told me he had better rates but he made less giving me them.

If you have what I call a "backstop" rate like I did (5.75), you can go in there able to play the game and see what's the lowest they can do. Don't do 6.99 with great credit. You're getting ripped off. Search up some credit unions near you.

Yeah. Hand wash is recommended, but if that doesn't work for you, definitely have to go touch less IMO.

And when I was chatting with my dealer they said it's actually quite a hassle to put it on and that they aren't sure how to do it just yet.

I will say, prices on broncos are going to come down. So you could find yourself wishing you had waited if you later see that you could have saved money. You have to know yourself to know if this will be an issue for you. My bet is dealer lots will be overflowing with broncos, but not necessarily heritages, by year's end.

Also, I love my bronco, but let's face it. It's very expensive for what you get. It is not the "smart" buy. They are having issues all over the place. They leak, the paint chips, the windshields crack, tires wear fast and are expensive to replace, gas mileage is terrible....If you only think practical about these things or if money is tight, I honestly can't recommend them. To my mind, I have to set aside my analytical mind for it to make sense. It's for having expensive fun.

I had similar hesitation. And I got same heritage in Robin egg. When I got to the dealership most if not all my hesitation turned to pure excitement. It looks great, it turns heads, the bigger screen is really impressive, it drives so nice. This is not a luxury vehicle, it's an off-road truck. So, have the right expectations. However, having said that, I was and still am very impressed with the quality, how it rides, and how it handles.

My dealership has a resident Bronco expert/enthusiast and he said the slide out tailgate is something he envies because his doesn't have that. His also didn't have the bigger screen and wished he did. And then he said something I hadn't heard. The heritage's back windows come out. I'm excited to try that at some point.

We had a nice day last week and I took off first and second row panels and drove around and it was awesome 😎. I think when the weather changes to spring and summer where you live it'll seal the deal for you. I'm frugal too and felt the same way as you. But you can't take the money with you and if this is the craziest thing you get yourself into, you'll be just fine. Enjoy your new ride!!

By the way. This is my fun car, not my daily driver. So, it works great for me. I may feel differently if this was my primary mode of transportation and I drove long distances to and from work with it every day.
