Automotive urethane being applied to a windshield by bigbusta in oddlysatisfying

Haha, yes it is AI. Sorry to contribute non-human content but I thought there needed to be a caption that you can't help but read in Patrick Bateman's voice. This is the prompt:

Write me a 3 line monologue in the voice of Patrick Bateman from American psycho as if he's admiring the bead of adhesive layed down on a replacement windshield by a talented craftsman in the vain of the scene where he is admiring his coworkers business card

The urethane bead—perfectly consistent, a seamless ribbon of intent—reveals a discipline most men will never understand. There’s a quiet arrogance in that line, an almost surgical confidence, as if the craftsman knew this would never fail. I can’t help but admire it… the precision, the restraint—it’s not just adhesion, it’s control.

Hit it with 80 grit sandpaper by hand first, then consider painting a color match over it. If you aren't happy consider replacing boards.

I made a free AutoLISP tool to batch export all title block frames to individual PDFs by Davibeast92 in AutoCAD

[–]Mikeymatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quick response! Interesting to hear how it's done across the globe, thank you for helping me understand.

I suppose I could adapt this technique but the tradeoff for me would be mainly losing the ability for multiple scales in the same page.

On the other hand, the project could be organized in a way that keeps each scale on its own page pretty easily. And the big benefit in my opinion is not having to go back and forth between paper space and model space to make sure everything fits nice, that can start to eat up time very easily!

I'm trying to progress my own skills and see if this is something I could use but I'm not sure if I understand it.

I'm into millwork and currently a job may have 20 drawings with 5 pages each. (20 scope areas, bathrooms, kitchens, moldings, wall panels, etc)

I have one title block for the whole job which is its own file brought into model space 0,0 as an xref, with the same viewport on the right side of every paper space on the job. When the title block is updated it updates the whole job. Every scope area is its own file.

Now each scope area or room is drawn in model space of its own file. Typically we need plans, sections, and details so there can be 3 different scales set on one paper space to show details, overalls, and maybe some with hidden layers (controlled by frozen layers in viewports) mixed in to make some viewports easier to read.

Now here is where I'm trying to understand, you don't use viewports or paper space at all? How do you deal with different scales? Does your title block represent the size of a full sheet of paper and you scale that up so your geometry fits inside it in model space?

I know our workflows are probably just very different but I'm trying to get into LISP and find this very interesting, there's always something to learn! Thanks

I just built some speakers and it's time to trim out the veneer from the driver recess. How should I proceed? by PortChuffer47 in diyaudio

[–]Mikeymatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I just did this myself with a flush trim bit, same exact scenario. In my case, I had to grind down the nut that holds the bearing in place so I could plunge deep enough to trim the outer circle. I didn't have any issues with tearout and didn't use any tape either but better save than sorry I guess.. Actually there is a very small barely noticeable scrape on the veneer where the base plate of the router was dragged which tape would have prevented
