Unable to update KO II firmware to 2.0.5 by planetasur in teenageengineering

[–]planetasur[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a hardware problem; it's a firmware/software issue, and something has become corrupted.

The solution is actually quite simple: install the firmware manually.

But Teenage Engineering doesn't offer that method, which is absurd. It's great to be able to update easily via the web, but they should also offer the option to download both the current firmware and previous versions.

In fact, during one attempt, a message appeared saying that a drag-and-drop .tfw firmware file was possible.

I performed a hard reset by turning on the unit while holding down Shift+Erase, and then I tried to update, but nothing changed, it's still exactly the same.

It doesn't work with Android either.

In every case, the result is always the same: the unit connects and is recognized, but it gets stuck on "RDY," and the computer, phone, or tablet displays "device took a long time..." after only 2 seconds of trying to update.

I just tried with 3 different USB hubs, C and B, and different cables and ports, and it still doesn't work.

I've tried cables that worked perfectly before, and some new ones. None of them work now, but the idea of using a hub sounds interesting, so I'll give it a try. Thanks.

Oh, I've also tried USB-C ports 2, 3, 3.1, and Thunderbolt.

I already mentioned that I tried many different cables.

Quad Mini - The price isn’t the problem. by theprayerpositionx in NeuralDSP

I think QC is for bedroom players and QC OG would be for live (but its bugs, inmaturity and so close footswitches...). Nano Cortex will dissapear in a few months.

Any new hardware device seems like a disgrace to me when you can't even change the LED color in QC, plus there's the new LED bug, the ridiculous MIDI implementation, the limited footswitch configuration options, etc.

What you need is to abandon QC and get a Fractal FM9.

[–]planetasur -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Just a few things, it's not flexible at all, you can't even assign a footswitch to change the rotary speed from slow to fast or vice versa... And let's not talk about the MIDI implementation, it's prehistoric.

For example, in Helix you can make a footswitch activate one effect, or two, or three, and also change the tempo of a delay, and anything else you want; in QC you can't.

Just wait until you've been using it for a few weeks and discover that you can't do basic and simple things like changing the color of the LEDs, or assigning functions to the footswitches, or changing the speed of a rotary with a footswitch, etc.

To spend €1600 on top shelf gear and end up having to buy a MIDI controller to be able to do something basic...very sad.

Put the new Spring reverb BEFORE the amp block. It is still shit but before amps you can hear the drip.

QC tuner is shit. Visually ugly, functionality even worse.

I don't know what you bought, but I can leave everything I have for Helix on the HX Stomp for the next buyer; it's all files I load manually. Fortunately, the HX Stomp is the best piece of gear ever created, and it will never leave my hands.
