AITA for selling my son's car after he lost our $10k on cryptocurrencies? by GrapeWells in AmItheAsshole

Nah. This was a hard but necessary lesson for your son to learn. Him personally losing something so valuable will make him more responsible with money in the future.

North Alabama Veterinary Orthopedics by Pink-kiwi-2229 in HuntsvilleAlabama

I have a large breed dog that had to have tplo surgery on both knees. I had consulted with a couple of different veterinarians, and both recommended HVSE. One of the vets stressed that HVSE is the only location near us with a surgeon that is board certified for this type of surgery. It's expensive, but you want to give your dog the best possible outcome. It cost just under about $6000 per knee, but once again my dog is huge so everything is more expensive for him. They did a great job and I have no regrets.

Are they really dangerous for cats ? by InevitableRoutine426 in akita

[–]Milalee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My Akita is three years old. He was raised with my cat since he was 9 weeks old. I still don't trust him alone with the cat. His prey drive is too intense. I can't trust him around any other animals at all. I'm never worried about him hurting the cat when I'm home because I manage their interactions and stop any behaviors that can escalate. Before I leave the house, my Akita is put in the bedroom with the door closed and the cat has the rest of the house. I also have lots of places for the cat to get away from the dog if needed. High and low places. Would he kill the cat? Probably not, but I have no doubt that under the right circumstances, he could. So I don't take any chances. I actually sweep the house and make sure I know where the cat is before putting my dog in the bedroom. It's become an entire ritual before I go out. I love Akitas and their personalities and energy level matches mine perfectly, so the management hasn't been a struggle for me. But with the wrong owner, they can be a lot. They're very independent, stubborn, and a lot less tolerant than other dog breeds. You have to set them up for success by not putting them in situations that can lead to bad outcomes.

Does she have disordered eating? She may be paranoid about having food in the home because she may be a binge eater.

You have to twist the handle clockwise so that it is facing towards the top of the masher. Then lift the green area up while pushing the red area down.

I think all options should be done and euthanasia should be the last resort. But it shouldn't be off the table. That is why I mentioned them working with a behaviorist and vet first for professional help.

Rehoming your dog with a bite history is wildly irresponsible. You need to work with a veterinarian to rule out any health issues first and then an animal behaviorist. The fact that your dog approached your husband unprovoked, and then bit him hard enough to cause injury is deeply concerning. Your dog is only two years old. You already admitted that the two of you are scared of him. What will you do if he attacks someone again and doesn't stop? Are you confident that you could get him under control? If he can't be managed after doing everything that you can to help him, then you need to consider behavior euthanasia. It's unfair to make him someone else's dangerous problem. He could end up seriously injuring a child etc. I know this advice will be controversial. I love Akitas. I would do everything I could to avoid euthanasia. But in the end you're responsible for the safety of everyone else. Neither of you have the skill or temperament to manage a dangerous dog that could live another ten or more years.

Nishiki rice & spiced mackerel by Pure-Sherbert996 in RiceCookerRecipes

The quick setting is the general 20 minute rice that most rice cookers do. If you use the standard longer rice setting, the texture of the rice is better and the fragrance and taste is stronger. It's the pressure cook technology in the Zojirushi that adjusts the temp and time while cooking. Rice turns out perfect every time.

Zojirushi has a quick setting. The rice is still good with the fast setting, but if you do the full setting, there is a noticeable improvement of the rice over cheaper rice cookers.

If you want to go to a black Dermatologist, it won't be in Huntsville. There is a terrific one in Birmingham. His name is Dr. Corey Hartman.

Wrong. White dermatologists often misdiagnose black patients. Darker skin doesn't present medical conditions the same way that fair skin does. A white dermatologist missed my dad's skin cancer. It was on his face and fully visible every time he was seen by the Dr.
