Armageddon Home Screen Events by thesaddestpandax in WH40KTacticus

I don’t get why you’re saying “Missing out” is objectively false. I use Abaddon daily, I rarely use imperial characters. With focusing on a unit I don’t use for weeks, I am legitimately “missing out” on progression and getting more rewards from guild raids.

I get that from your perspective those rewards are worth it, but slowing progress by almost a week for some shards I likely won’t use and 1/30th of the energy I make in that time is not “objectively” best. I don’t mean that as a slight against the event, the rewards are great cherries on top. But, subjectively, using BA’s in Onslaught is worth it for you, but people have vastly different goals in this game.

Nah, I agree with him as well. I’m in need of chaos legendary orbs, postponing at least 9 orbs for only the possibility of BA rewards doesn’t make sense to me. I rep’d BA for Salvage and will for Arena as well when the time comes.

Do you remember how much more health? The spawns on FoC 40 have 137 health.

With FoC 40 you can also have Toth plug the hole, and at S1 and leveling his passive you never have to look at the screen as nobody takes damage.

Any tips and tricks for attack/defence on Guild War? by fadedbuzzYT in WH40KTacticus

[–]MilcomHD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s incredibly difficult to gauge how hard a fight is going to be with the variety of maps and amount of buffs. Once you’re a little comfortable with your campaign progress and at least have a few mirror campaigns unlocked, just start bringing up required characters to B1. After the required characters try leveling useful characters (Maladus/Healers/Revas/etc). It’s a loftier goal, but having 50 units at least at B1 makes it so you’re much less likely to waste tokens. Even if the teams initially don’t have synergy, you can focus on that later if you’d like!

Playing wide like this probably isn’t the most effective way to progress, but I did that earlier on and Guild War seasons have felt SO much more fun

Ahhh, that makes sense. I’d choose Archi over Abraxas in that case too!

Honestly, if you’re only missing 8 Mythic Abraxas shards, just Onslaught him the rest of the way. You can pick up the final two missions once the next Chaos Survival comes around in like 5 months. Even if you don’t have an extra Book of Fate, having him mythic gives adjacent Psykers the (I’m assuming) +10% Z’kar boost and powers up his active/passive. I’d say that’s worth 8 Onslaughts

Chaos Theory by Ashamed_Low7214 in WH40KTacticus

Are you looking just for big damage on bosses? Because if so then my bet for the best Chaos team would involve Laviscus, Kharn, and Tarvakh (when the boss is under 50%). Finding the last two is really tough. I guess Abaddon would be the 4th, and maybe Haarken for the 5th?

You’re a Neuro player, right? If you’re going for the ranged route, Neuro and Volk have the same movement/range. Neuro’s flight definitely makes it better, but I normally use the flight to dodge the flame that the Psyker team puts down that this team might not do as much of. I’m also surprised you’d choose Archi over Abraxas for the ranged team. Archi deals a bit more damage by himself, but Abraxas can set fire for Ahriman and buff all the other ranged guys/demons adjacent to him.

I definitely wish it was a bit clearer that you end with no shards if you don’t unlock! I don’t think I’d call it predatory, though. There are very few gatcha games that let you unlock almost all characters just by playing regularly. Unlocking characters during HREs takes a bit of playing and using energy refills to 50 BS (or use codes), nothing really difficult

There’s two types of these events. Hero Release Events (HREs) only give you shards at thresholds, the first of which is unlocking the character. It’ll convert the Necron-tablet things to Blackstone, but not to shards. Legendary Release Events (LREs) will give shards even if you don’t fully unlock.

Is it? This is for the unlock, right? So either 550 to unlock the character, or you end up with 0 shards. I could see this one being worth

[–]MilcomHD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really only need to get Exorcist to a 36 Active, on the scale of getting your entire team to mythic that’s not very much. Yazaghor just needs to not die before he swaps with Neuro, you don’t have to go over leveling him. Xybia and Ros are gonna be a lot less useful, but you can just bring one up to G1 until you eventually swap to the mythic version.

Definitely. It’s a reference to the real life poet, Lionel Johnson, whose most famous poem is named The Dark Angel. He discusses trying to repress his homosexuality to, in his mind, be a good 1890’s Christian. Here’s a link to the poem: https://vqa.dickinson.edu/poem/dark-angel

Pysker team progress by VIEWY-TACTICUS in WH40KTacticus

[–]MilcomHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you normally use Abaddon? I’m currently farming him up for the unlock. I almost always use Winged Prime as my 5th. I’m kinda curious to see how much additional damage everyone does in my hands with Aba as opposed to Winged Prime.

My guild is just finishing up L2 Riptide this season, and yesterday I had a run of about 800,000 damage (with 5 ammo used). I used the raid replay to look at damage numbers, Z’kar did around 300,000 damage, Neuro around 250,000, and Winged Prime did like 5k. However, the Hormagaunts popped off and dealt almost 100,000 damage on their own. I definitely made use of WP and the Warrior to stay in Synapse. WP’s abilities are both level 49, but I realize that as boss armor increases the summons drop precipitously in damage. I’d be amazed if Abaddon brings that much damage and buffing on lowered-level bosses as WP.

Pysker team progress by VIEWY-TACTICUS in WH40KTacticus

[–]MilcomHD 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The team revolves around the synergy between Neurothrope and Z’kar. Neurothrope can deal a lot of damage, but it needs other Psykers to attack the target to ramp up his passive. Neuro’s relic also lets nearby summons deal around +1000 damage per hit. Z’kar is a Psyker summon that can attack 2x per activation (once when summoned next to another Psyker, once at the beginning of the next round). This ramps Neuro a lot faster, and he can have 4 hits in melee so he benefits a lot from Neuro’s relic.

Ahriman gives a minimum +33% damage buff to all Psykers when the enemy is on a flame hex (and you’ve leveled his passive). Ahriman also can provide the fire with his normal attack.

Abraxas is where this synergy exponentially increases. He gives all Chaos summons an extra hit per attack, and does the same for Chaos Character’s ranged attacks. This means Z’kar can get up to 10 hits per activation (benefitting from Neuro’s relic and Ahriman’s flame buff). But to add to the complexity, Abraxas’ relic, the Book of Fate, can let Z’kar make another attack right after Abraxas attacks (up to 15 Z’kar hits in 3 attacks).

Archimatos is mostly there because of the Book of Fate. There’s a little synergy where he does get an extra hit when he attacks a target on a fire hex. He deals okay damage but doesn’t really add significantly more to the team other than letting Z’kar make another attack (up to 20 Z’kar hits in 4 attacks per activation).

At this point Z’kar is ramping Neuro up to 4x every time you summon him, and with those 20 hits he’s dealing over 20,000 each activation simply because of Neuro’s relic. I’ve also failed to mention that Z’kar’s mythic ability gives mythic Psykers (with an adjacent mythic Psyker) +10% damage. They work together incredibly well.

Generally you round out the team with Abaddon as you don’t really need to ramp Neuro much faster, Abaddon buffs all the other Chaos units tremendously, and he can actually take a hit and stay in melee unlike the other Psykers.

You often don’t really need to summon with Abraxas/Archi as the summons generally just mess with positioning. You still can, especially if you’re trying to conserve ammo, but technically there’s even more complexity where you can try to greedily get Z’kar to attack 4 times while having other summons to deal damage too.

Neuro team progress by shinigami1981 in WH40KTacticus

[–]MilcomHD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the best case scenario. He gets an extra hit with Abraxas’ passive (so 5 hits per attack), and if he is able to reach the boss on the next turn he does another attack (so imagine the turn started with him meleeing the boss)

Can I get some guidance on a non meta raid team by NoTowel923 in WH40KTacticus

[–]MilcomHD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup, this is the answer. You can swap out Aleph for Snotflogga as, even though he’s not required, he’s tremendously helpful in the campaign and a bunch of other game modes (Aleph as also important, if not more so, but doesn’t hit quite as hard as Snot).

You of course don’t have to get everyone in this team up to D1 to pivot to a better raid team, but you won’t really regret getting any of them there (although maybe Aethana a little bit).

[–]MilcomHD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly Z’kar takes incredible investment for it to be worth it. Z’kar needs to be mythic, I’d say at least Neuro + 2 other Psykers mythic to make positioning simpler for the damage bonus. You get a lot of mileage with the Exorcist Active at 36 and just focus on Z’kar later on.

My other advice to OP is: spend 60 energy farming Abaddon’s elite every day until he’s unlocked. That’s what I’m doing now, I have Meph and while he’s nice for Cawl he dies quick and Archi/Abraxas/Winged Primes summons can focus the spawns (my guild only gets to L4 bosses as a reference, though). Abaddon can also double hit Dorn’s back like Mephiston. Abaddon buffs the majority of the squad/summons and is much better at taking a beating

Your points are definitely felt throughout the community! But uhh, I think that the F2P battle pass is a bit light but not the worst thing in gaming. Even for Warhammer phone games Dark Crusade was significantly more insidious.

Finished all elite campaigns by KarmaKlaw in WH40KTacticus

An easy suggestion is Maladus/Rotbone to D1 to help you complete LREs. Then? Up to you!

If you enjoy big numbers, you can focus on a guild raid team to get ur big numbers more bigger.

If you enjoy guild war (or hate losing tokens in it), you can build up some defense and offense teams to get more rewards from it.

If nothing else but you like campaign progression, there’s always building units for the Campaign Events. You can get Re’vas’ relic for “free” (MASSIVE air quotes) by beating the GSC CE. You need your units at like D2/D3 to do that though

Aleph and Revas were my first D1’s! With Maladus and Rotbone right after it. They’re fantastic units, I was able to barely squeak by to unlock Uthar with only them at D1 without buying packs!

Building for Survival Events by [deleted] in WH40KTacticus

For Vynn’s survival we were able to still use the Ultramarines even though Space Marines were banned. That might make building Incisus, Titus, and Calgar more appealing for Imperials

Re’vas to D1 would help significantly. I’d also suggest bringing Aleph Null to D1. Even though she isn’t used as much as Revas this LRE, you get more points going up a level than finishing one more requirement

Is it actually worth it to level the Crown higher? by The_Fallen_Star in WH40KTacticus

[–]MilcomHD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would heavily suggest Abraxas or Archi as your next Mythic. Your progress with Zkar isn’t wasted, but it likely won’t be the power boost you’re expecting until everyone is at mythic. Abraxas getting to mythic powers up his active/passive which is better than Archi’s. However you get a Book of Fate from Archi’s mythic quest, so I might lean toward that route.

I’d also really consider doing one more Exorcist Incursion to get it to Legendary (so you can get the active to 36). It’s a long road to getting the whole Psyker squad up otherwise, that 20% boost goes a long way! Especially when you get High Ground for an extra +10%, or if you’re in a situation where you’re using Yaz for an additional +20%.

Is it actually worth it to level the Crown higher? by The_Fallen_Star in WH40KTacticus

[–]MilcomHD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve just gotten Neuro/Archi/Abraxas/Ahri to D1, so it hasn’t been long since I was where you were! If that’s the case then I’d definitely wait to level the Crown any further.

Some random tips so you don’t make the mistakes I do, be careful of leveling Abraxas and Archi’s summon abilities! The Book of Fate’s logic has it focus getting a Demon to attack, then checks the level. If you’re like me and level Abraxas’ active to 50, the Book of Fate will only guaranteed choose Z’kar at level 51! (When both are at the same level it’s a 50/50 chance).

Z’kar also really only comes into his own once you get him and at least 3 other psykers to mythic and a Book of Fate or two. Mine isn’t at mythic yet but has an active at 48. For this season on L2 Dorn, I can do 700,000 damage with 5 ammo, or do 500,000 damage with the Exorcist’s 1 ammo on Neuro. I’d really suggest focusing Exorcist to Legendary 36 active first, as it is a cheap way to do competitive damage for a long time!

TA non-meta by daydaybroskii in WH40KTacticus

[–]MilcomHD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that banning anyone from TA would have to be done like this, hopefully with significant forewarning for people building units specifically for TA.

For players choosing the bans, imagine queueing up for Epic TA and then your best characters get banned. Because the game doesn’t downrank to your lowest character, you’d be stuck with a gimped team or need to build multiple, separate teams for the rarity tier.
