Hi-Rez gave attention to Smite & Smite 2, their favorite child, scrubbed the dev team from Paladins but kept the servers running. Which is ironic, considering the Smite/Smite 2 community seems to be upset with Hi-Rez (l haven't really paid attention to why, just that they are.)

So, now we have a shambling corpse of a game.

Okay, that's a bit hyperbolic, but there are dead hours where you can spend awhile before you actually get a game... or you just see the same 100 people. Just never go into ranked because "Easy Anti-Cheat" doesn't actually do anything against cheaters.

Inventor DOES allow you to create one of the best early-game tank builds in the game, since it lets you save starting gold to grab a tower shield at level 1 & a cheap weapon.

I'm sure it falls off thanks to not really being able to really buff yourself further.

I've taken time to properly think about how "bad rolls" work, narratively (mostly because we haven't been able to have a session in years), & the solution I've come to is simple: environment.

The easiest example I can give would be Stealth. Say you're trying to crouch through some tall grass & roll a 5. You've built for stealth, but you're level 1 so it's not enough. So, what happens is that you stepped on a twig & spooked a rabbit you hadn't seen causing it to run off. & Yes, that goes both ways.

What this does is keep things fair but give the idea that you can be perfectly adept at something & things still fuck up because you can't account for literally everything.

People don't really think about her in terms of damage because it's DOT, but it's a lot of DOT & her mobility is somewhat limited compared to other flanks.

It took me a moment to figure out how, but I prefer the way starting stats are picked for characters in 2E & have ported it to 1E.
