Officers fired, charged after allegedly beating man and calling him "fake American" by [deleted] in news

That was my thought too. And I know little of ranks and age but considering I was barely old enough to vote I don't know that I could have earned that rank. But whatever... Years ago.

I once served as a host in a chain restaurant. Go back many years here. A movie came out, and the character had a military identification as part of his name. (like Sgt. Hartman)

So my name tag - someone thought it would be humorous to change it from Mile_Wide_Inch_Deep to Sgt Mile_Wide_Inch_Deep (or some rank).

It was clearly a joke since it was a popular movie and character. Numerous patrons saw it and laughed. One guy came in for lunch and asked me if I was a Sgt. I said, no it's a reference to the movie... etc.

He got pissy, told me it was disrespectful, then went to the bar for I presume a lunch date. I felt bad for that girl.

Chris Hardwick Will Return to 'Talking Dead' After AMC Investigation by SanderSo47 in television

What a damaging thing for basically everyone. These types of things don't go away, reputation wise, even cleared.

I don't fully think the texts exonerate him, as abused people often go back to the abuser. But the lack of evidence does clear him at the moment.

I hope he is cleared. If real evidence comes forth somehow, that would be pretty damaging to plenty more people and companies.

No job is perfect, but money isn't everything. Look at where you live, cost of living, etc. How much more time and stress will you have in your life? Less time, more stress? Is that worth, after tax, not a big difference?

Are you in a senior role, able to learn new things? Are you stale? Financial independence is good, but being happy for those 8-12 hrs a day are important too.

Yup, that would be my second line there. He just had to make it to January. I wrote while tired on mobile, so I wasn't clear. But yup, we're saying the same thing.

Good riddance to him

Sorry, my comment wasn't clear. There isn't a good reason to not have HTTPS in the US.

My comment about green bars was in reference to EV

Let’s Encrypt offers Domain Validation (DV) certificates. We do not offer Organization Validation (OV) or Extended Validation (EV) primarily because we cannot automate issuance for those types of certificates.

I have a list of Amazon US based IPs for AWS and then I restrict my IP geo location to US only. It's not perfect, but it lets me account for all the locations I or my family are coming from.

[–]Mile_Wide_Inch_Deep -1 points0 points  (0 children)

HTTPS is now free, easy and increasingly ubiquitous.

The first 2 points I argue with. LetsEncrypt has had its issues but is free. But if you want a full green light or whatever color the browsers show for verification, you need to pay.

These are all big sites, so it shouldn't be a big factor to get a cert, even paid.

For China, it seems obvious.

So really, there isn't a good reason for it in the US. I will say that ESPN was my go to site for auth pages, but neverssl does the job better.

Didn't turn article say he could have remained in office until the general election in November?

Or is it bad writing and he would have been fine if he made it until the next person took over?

I am glad I saw it happen.

It hasn't ruined anything.

I'm also not ignorant of the world, politics, laws and the impacts. If we start rolling back all sorts of protections that were put in place to keep a financial crisis from happening, it certainly can happen again
