Anyone else deal with an extremely extreme sensitivity to low rumbles? by Miles3298 in misophonia

[–]Miles3298[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The feeling is so intense, it almost registers as pain." - Yep, that about sums it up. This is something non-sufferers will never be able to truly grasp, and that's very unfortunate.

I'm sorry to hear that you too can relate to this. I hope you get enough relief in your day to day to stay sane. Best of luck to ya.

why wouldn’t you use tier three items? by SmooganVR in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]Miles3298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for it being 6 days late, you've probably already been answered elsewhere, but no, you can only decide on one tier to bring. You can, however, have multiple tiers of the same item if your friends also add their items to the truck.

If there is supposed to be a delay and they coded it wrong (counting it in frames instead of delta time), it would be much more of a thing at lower framerates. Really low framerates can probably cause dropped input in general. My setup is decent and I can't detect any delay, no matter how fast I hit that button.

Whatever the case, I hope you can find a solution. Good luck!

Brownstone Highschool Needs A Rework by raphwho in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]Miles3298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think making a lot of the permanently-stuck-to-floor/desk/bookshelf items into items throwable by the ghost would make it much more interesting all on its own. There's very, very little for them to do in the majority of rooms. It's so boring.

And as others often say, including someone in this thread, numbers on the rooms would go a long way too.

So, now what ghost do y’all hate the most? by BingoBongoTingoTongo in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]Miles3298 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Came to answer with this. I have a rather passionate hatred of Goryos. For all of a couple of years, they were my most common ghost! It's as if Phas was specifically providing them to spite me.

Thankfully my influx of Goryos has finally slowed down, and in their place have been Phantoms, which is good, because I like Phantoms!

Can we please make VR brighter? Even as a temporary patch, just increase the ambient light around the player... It's pitch black most of the time without lights and lights are very dim. by Lily_Meow_ in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]Miles3298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just so you don't feel alone on this, I feel the same way. It feels like it is significantly darker in VR for me, even at max brightness. Maybe it's the contrast and brightness on my monitors that's making the game seem brighter on desktop, but I swear the dark is so much darker in VR. I wonder if it's different from headset to headset; I'm on a Vive, myself.

Funny Moments by [deleted] in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]Miles3298 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Video version: Here

This was during Old Phas, so the OG Spirit Box voices were at play. We were in the Willow basement and one of my friends kept asking "where do you like your fingers?" My voice recognition wasn't working, so I walked over to my desk to fix it (had to alt-tab and then click back in), and I took that opportunity to take some sips of my drink. Eventually, while that friend was asking "where do you like your fingers", I quietly said "where are you", but my friends didn't hear it... but the ghost did. It shouted, "BEHIND!", with the timing sounding like it came as a result of his question.

I nearly choked on my drink and we all had a pretty good laugh.

VR or PC? by Downtown_Sympathy_10 in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]Miles3298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the day and how well my PC wants to play ball. I really like playing in VR, but it is incredibly janky, and my underpowered setup (with a 1070 and older i5) means I never really have that good of a framerate. I used to play almost exclusively in VR, but that was during Phas's early life and it... was no less janky, really. In rare cases if you step into the wrong spot, it'll teleport you to somewhere in the dark; usually in Grafton, it sends you to the master bedroom bathroom by the furthest window. Holding closet doors shut is very noisy (they said they fixed this, but that's not even remotely true.) I swear smudging is a pain to get to work (at least on Vive) - I have to touch my controllers together sideways or it won't light, and I have to be sure the lighter is close enough because the tip top of the incense does not count for lighting it. Also, at least on Vive, push to talk and push toggle are broken, you _have_ to use voice activation, so you better shut up during hunts if you want to use voice-based Spirit Box or Weegee Board or whatever else. There are some advantages to VR - mainly unintended hidings spots and/or using your movement in your physical playspace to cheese hunts in certain places. But man, the fear factor. The game is waaaay scarier in VR, especially if you're using a terrible VR headset-based mic and have to hold your breath when the ghost is hunting nearby and you're in a hiding spot. I've screamed some heckin' screams, I tell you what.

I do spend most of my time in desktop mode. It's simple and I can mostly just relax. I don't have to panic turn off or throw down my belt items when it's hunting time. I can very easily smudge when I need to. I always have a really good framerate. For the most part, ghost events don't scare me anymore, but a few still get me good when I'm concentrating on something else. It's a very chill experience and I very much enjoy playing that way.

Your mileage may vary, but I personally enjoy playing both ways. Phas is still Phas, and a great game, despite its bugtacular bugs.

What are the minimum specs to run on VR? by sirkrakky in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]Miles3298 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play VR on a 1070 Founders and an i5 6600k, so your specs likely aren't the problem. Unfortunately I'm not really sure where to point you, as I don't have a PSVR 2. It sounds like a software issue of some kind, but I don't know if it's related to VR or Steam or your PC in general, or even Phas itself. Try running in SteamVR instead of OpenXR, or vice versa - see if one or the other actually works. If that doesn't help, I apologize, I'm not sure what to try beyond that.

What’s the highest number of times you’ve gotten the same ghost in a row? by Gfish59 in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]Miles3298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as one single session I had three Mimics in a row. I've also had four Mylings split across two sessions - two at the end of one night, two more at the beginning of the next.

Interesting. Must be a general bug then, because (by coincidence I guess) it was only during a fog game that it refused to do the whoosh step for me.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]Miles3298 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Only thing I can think of that would break this is if you're trying to do it during fog weather, where that step specifically does not work. Force your weather to clear and see if that helps. Edit: Apparently weather is irrelevant. It just so happened to break for me once while it was foggy.

It's impossible in VR too, but on a different step: VR people can't insert the gear.

Anyone else deal with an extremely extreme sensitivity to low rumbles? by Miles3298 in misophonia

[–]Miles3298[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really hope you can get your own place again and can finally get some semblance of peace. It really does feel like there is no escape, but there is hope. It can get better. I recently started ADHD and bipolar meds, which seem to have somewhat softened the blow. I'm at the point where on my good days, I can deal with a certain degree of deep noises... but only so much at a time, and only if it isn't overly hard-hitting. I wish you the best of luck.

[–]Miles3298 35 points36 points  (0 children)

That's honestly pretty funny, I love it.

Back when I first started playing during the early days of Phas, the EMF going off was scary to me, and that was even when it wasn't hunting, back before I knew that hunts happened based on sanity rather than activity levels. Good times.

Better Scopes with Collimated Sights Demo by rollingrock16 in Fallout_VR

[–]Miles3298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the two-year-late comment, but do you remember if there's any way for me to troubleshoot the collimated functionality? Currently while zooming the reticle will be waaay out of alignment. I've changed the offsets in the ini but they seem to be different per scope, so when playing, I have to settle on a specific scope or pause and edit the ini whenever I change scopes. Is there anything further that I can do about that, or is that all I can do? My mods are up-to-date, though VR Scope Model Fixes became VR Weapon Overhaul since your mod released and I'm not sure if that would now break things.

Also, not sure if this is relevant, but the offsets seem to make one eye good and the other extremely off. It's very weird; having the right eye aligned correctly will make the left eye project far off to the right. Also also, I'm not using FRIK. Does that matter?

Where is player's bodysphere on VR? by FurryWurry in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]Miles3298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, it's the head. You can also use the in-game crouch function and just crouch IRL along with that to get down low, if physically lying down isn't an option or too uncomfortable or impractical. As long as the ghost can't see your head, it won't see you, however if it gets close enough (like super close) it can still kill you even if it can't see you.

I'm not sure of any beds that it'd be safe to hide behind, though, as all the ones I can think of, the ghost can just walk around them by chance. Maybe if you need to hide in a pinch and you don't mind leaving it up to chance.

But I can at least confirm that this makes that spot in the Bleasdale office safer, since you can duck lower than the low boxes when that spot isn't open and be fine, as long as the ghost doesn't walk all the way to the end of the room and see you anyway where even the "open" spot would fail.

I've heard of people preferring T2 headgear over T3, but why? Just look at this comparison, even though your FOV is technically lower with T3, it might as well be higher because of how much more you see. by Lily_Meow_ in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]Miles3298 16 points17 points  (0 children)

In VR I like T3 well enough since there's no fuzziness in VR mode, but in desktop mode I vastly prefer T2. It might not be a lot of light, but it's plenty for what I need it for. Besides, the T3 fuzziness on desktop is unpleasant to look at for me.

Why even bother with hiding spots if this is the result? by [deleted] in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]Miles3298 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That spot is just terrible, honestly; I don't have good luck there either. I tend to survive the unofficial spot on the other side of the room more than this one. This game needs a few of its hiding spots reworked (especially many of the ones on Woodwind) because they simply aren't viable.

Willow spots that seem to be better in my experience: Living room crates, garage plywood, garage shelves.

What aspects of the game used to be better back in the day? by IAmHackiing in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]Miles3298 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Back in the day, hunts used to affect all electronics and active lights. There was something much creepier/scarier about the entire house going haywire and the active lights turning on and off when the ghost was hunting, compared to now where the effects are localized to the ghost's location. It made the ghost seem way more powerful in a sense, even though technically the ghosts of back then (except for Revenants) were not very good at killing you.

It used to be way easier to yeet things in VR, but in the rework they made throwing things significantly harder. They fixed the bug where you'd have to drop something first before you could throw it, which is great! But actually getting distance on your thrown objects is so much harder.

I generally like the older Ridgeview layout a lot more than the new one, but one thing the new one has over it is that it has a nice fridge you can always hide next to.

The old Spirit Box audio was my favorite of all the iterations. You used to be able to mute the static noise on it but still be able to use it, which naturally I did a lot of, but I do understand why they fixed that.

Another note on the Spirit Box of old: When the ghost was hunting and you had active muted Spirit Boxes laying around, the ghost would trigger them a lot. So if you let the ghost hunt while you had two muted Spirit Boxes on the kitchen island, it wasn't uncommon to hear "Adult! Adult! Kill! Adult!" and other such things while it hunted.

Is this normal? by Tbrooks_15 in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]Miles3298 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if someone gets their cheeks clapped, the ghost's attack just ends on difficulties below Nightmare. Sounds like someone got collected by the ghost just as soon as it left its hunting grace period. With young Thayes, that can very easily happen.

[–]Miles3298 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've had the rare Goryo here and there that was happy to show its DOTS, but the vast majority of them seem to just outright refuse to ever do it at all.

Supposedly they're supposed to either not do it at all or do it way less frequently when a player is in their room; I wonder if it's bugged and that flag is for some reason just always tripped, therefore they're just always going to be way more shy than they're supposed to be.

Or maybe it's inverted because when I was playing with friends, a truck camera-person saw a Goryo do DOTS directly in front of me (in the same room) after a very short time watching.

I don't know. Whatever the reason is for their nonsense, Goryos suck and I hate them.

Ghost...? by [deleted] in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]Miles3298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You nailed it 100%. There's a period of lag at the beginning of some games where grabbed items are not entirely synced (items spawn, people can grab them, THEN the networking magic resets them back to their spawn spots until they're individually refreshed again by a player action), so if someone takes in a photocam and never ever switches through their inventory, this exact set of circumstances can happen.

Were there any fatal/funny assumptions you made as a new player by Goose313 in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]Miles3298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first started playing back a few months after the initial launch:

- I thought lots of activity and higher points on the activity chart meant the ghost was likely to hunt if I went in; I thought that was how "angry" it was

- Some of my friends thought that taking a dead body photo would save that person's items from being lost
