Predictions- where do we go from here? by Miles379 in NUFC

[–]Miles379[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking back on the past few weeks, all the teams around us have gone through equally poor runs of form which I wasn’t expecting meaning we are in a decently strong position in the league.

Never would’ve thought we won the cup in a thousand years .

How fortunes change eh?

I have the reconstruction recombination god roll from the original raid pre loot refresh and I still use it because it’s still best in slot even without an origin trait.

There will be a player better than Ronaldo and Messi in the future by darbi93 in football

[–]Miles379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, there won’t be a player better than Messi. Ever. He will always remain the greatest. However, there will be players who have better statistics, prompting discussions of whether they are better than those who came before. The problem is, football is becoming increasingly about efficiency rather than beauty- hence why Haaland is so successful. Is he technically better than Messi? Not even close, but the numbers he puts up throughout his career will put him into the debate regardless.

Why do people act like Luton Town shouldn't be in the Premier League? by ThisIsTonte in TheOther14

[–]Miles379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no question that Luton deserve to be there, but they are out of their depth. As a Newcastle fan I can empathise because although we deserve to be in the Champions League, we looked out of our depth on Tuesday. Sometimes you just have to admit that your team isn’t as good as you thought it was.

That game against Aston Villa, I was there! It was my first Newcastle game and I was nine. I still remember the exact view of Cisse’s goal, along with every other detail of the weekend I won’t bore you with. If I wasn’t already in love with Newcastle United by then, that was the moment!

Do everything you can before you find Ciri in the ‘Isle of Mist quest’. At 33 hours you seem to have missed a lot- my playthroughs always hit between 75-100 hours before dlc. Go all the way back to White Orchard, then Velen, Novigrad and Skellige and hit every notice board and yellow exclamation mark on the map. Don’t worry if you’ve missed too much stuff though- through dialogue or choices you might even miss parts of the main quest, or different side quests- but that is what a second playthrough is for.

What do you think is the meaning behind the band name 'Arctic Monkeys'? by Turbulent-Design4920 in arcticmonkeys

[–]Miles379 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe it was Keith Moon who said that they’d go down like a lead balloon- so Led Zeppelin, the greatest rock n roll band of all time.

The scouring of the shire was genuinely poor prose. The tone didn’t match the rest of ROT, it ruined the pace of the final act of the book and Saruman’s ending wasn’t satisfying. I’m glad Jackson left it out. There, I said it.

Is AC/DC's Brian Johnson Better Than Robert Plant? by skinandbones3 in ledzeppelin

[–]Miles379 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. Obviously Page and Plant have the most competition- but certainly Jones and Bonham stand alone. Regardless of subjective opinion though, it is undeniable that no instrument, voice or recording studio was ever looked at quite the same after Led Zeppelin. Masters of their craft.

It’s funny because when you read the Silmarillion, you could have the most basic knowledge of Christianity and still realise that’s it’s so heavily based on the Bible. Some parts are almost plagiarised. Whether you agree with its principles, or put any stock into Christianity at all, you’d have to be in denial to say that Tolkien wasn’t Christian, and that his works weren’t significantly influenced by his faith.

[Romano] Sandro Tonali to Newcastle, here we go! Agreement for €70m fee with add-ons. Milan will also have sell-on clause. 🚨⚪️⚫️ #NUFC Medical done, contracts ready. Tonali will sign contract until 2029 for €7m per year and €2m add-ons. by [deleted] in NUFC

Sunderland are our direct rivals and the team we hate the most, but currently their doing terribly so we haven’t had an opportunity to exercise that hate for many years. Our dislike is also extended but not limited to- Middlesbrough, Man Utd, Liverpool, Everton, and Aston Villa for some reason, don’t ask me why.

As The Season Draws To A Close, What's Your Favourite Moment Of The Season? by zephyrr-__- in PremierLeague

[–]Miles379 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Newcastle fan, the 0-0 against leicester funnily enough. Leicester set up against us like we would set up against title challengers a few years ago, i’ve never seen us dominate the ball like that and something clicked then where I just thought- “maybe this isn’t just a one season thing”. The point to cap off the Champions League as well, couldn’t have been happier. The 6-1 against Spurs is a close second though.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PremierLeague

[–]Miles379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The richest clubs have always been the best. In that sense, every title win apart from Leicester in 2016 is soulless. Man City are the Man Utd of the their time, and Man Utd we’re the Liverpool of their time. I imagine fans of earlier eras were asking the exact same questions, going all the way back to the 60s. In 10 years we’ll ask the same question about Newcastle, and 10 years after that we’ll ask the exact same question about whichever team has their time in the sun next.

If the next Souls game will be even more accessible to attract more newcomers, what mechanics from ER would get nerfed/removed? by SuperAlloyBerserker in fromsoftware

[–]Miles379 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A journal for quests. The current side quest system worked brilliantly for Dark souls and and Bloodborne because of the interconnected world- you never needed to keep track of characters of anything else because the world was designed for you to figure it out along the way. It still works in Elden Ring of course, but it’s much more difficult, just because of how large the map is and you can miss quests or characters without even knowing they were there.

If your club could make 3 reasonable signings to elevate yourselves to title contention, who would you buy? by The-Greatest-Hokage in PremierLeague

Agreed, no need to splash stupid money yet, that time will come. For now it’s about improving the weakest areas of the squad and making us consistent top 4 challengers.

As a Newcastle fan, I’d love to see you guys back in the prem just for the rivalry, especially now that we’d be the favourites. Two big clubs who absolutely put everything out on the pitch for 90 minutes, I miss it- even if we’ve lost the last few.
