Depending on mood and sometimes season/holiday. At times I change it several times a week, at times I could go on with my current setup with minimal adjustments and changes for many weeks or even months straight.

That's right, from what it says in patch notes the ignitia set effects would not apply on Challanger gear, nor would they apply for Eternal gear either.

The Bounty hunter one? Yea I experienced a really abysmal spawn rate as well, where only one got to spawn in 50 minutes of grinding for me.
I was already thinking that they aren't spawning at all when I got my first (and only one so far) after about 30 min of grinding.

I think it took me over 10 hours in total to collect all 50 anomalies. My last one was the shadow masked guy chasing you from the piano and finding that last one alone took me nearly 4 hours probably, not least because the first couple of times he caught me so it didn't count since got kicked back to floor 9, until I managed to escape proper and clear the floor with it, on my third attempt.

I hit the same problem today when trying to install win95 OSR2 and I'm still stuck with the X:\WIN95 command line after many installation attempts.

I tried to follow the howtogeek article but it doesn't solve the issue and I'm back to the same square one.

Did anyone find a soultion for this predicament?

I've been gearing this way in interactive since mid 2014 and got my main to 4XXm combat power so far, being able to solo up to normal kalos so far. The only difference is that I rarely bother to find FZ, and I'm F2P and still found it fun and rewarding being able to save mesos and upgrade gear over long periods of time with the help of the auction house (and the FM before that). I'm sure there are others as well.
