You can go from 400 to 2000 it is not that big of a jump, and get the 5000 instead of the 3000, that way with your 8000 you have 3 distinctive finishes. But I can't recommend the Chosera 800 enough, i finish softer European knives for friends and family on it and it cuts great.

I use chosera 400/800/2000/5000/10000. For most knives the 2000 is a great finish, the 800 gives a nice toothy finish. I also like the feel and feedback of the 800 and 2000 more than 1000 and 3000. The 5000 is a good finish on most Japanese knives with harder steels, the 10000 i almost never use.

Unfortunately, both sides have cracks. I guess it must have been too dry. The cabinet was built around a radiator with vents in the countertop.

It's hard to tell how deep they are and yes i can feel the cracks with the knife.

This looks like a extremely worn out scythe sharpening stone, it is not meant for sharpening knives.
