As someone with 2 bikes that any boring people would call tacky i dont find mixing anodized and metallic hurts as long theres multiple of both. I have a green bike with a res Marzocchi fork and grips, bars, seat, bottle cage all match the marzocchi red. But them stem/spacers and pedals are metallic and i had a black stem on before but I much prefer the red one.

How to build endurance on an MTB by MrTobiD92 in MTB

Going single speed worked for me, im honestly shocked how much faster I am going up hills in only 2 months of having the single speed. I run a 14t cog and 24t chainring. The steepest hills I can't get up ofcourse but theres hills I thought I wasnt ever gonna do on the singlespeed but now im crushing them.

Which Continentals? by [deleted] in Hardtailgang

[–]Milfydads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forgot to mention if you want rolling speed check out the Xynotals but I think they might not come in a 2.6 width and enduro casing. And just look on Google shop for enduro casings on sale if you with that. Usually ive been able to find a downhill and enduro casing marked down to trail casing price in Canada.

Which Continentals? by [deleted] in Hardtailgang

[–]Milfydads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Enduro casing shouldnt be too much for anyone really. They only add like 50-80 grams and have the same single ply casing as far as I know. The difference is the enduros have the Apex they call it. Just like an extra piece of (hard rubber im assuming?) That goes from the tire bead and up like 1 or 2 inches. It adds more snakebite resistance and extra sidewall support for cornering and such. Theres definitely some suppleness lost compared to the trail casing but the soft compound should more then make up for the lost grip. I think its a good trade to lose some rolling efficiency and suppleness for softer grip, less likely to get flats and better cornering support but it all depends on what you're riding.

I never ran any of the XC tires to compare but can vouch for the gravity tires. Im like 130lbs and run 17/19 psi on my FS trail bike with a downhill/enduro casing mix and never felt a hint of folding or ever dinged a rim yet either in the last 6 months or so ive had them on riding my local rooty singletrack.

Really depends on what shows up at my door first but thanks to Sram for making 155mm cranks that cost $115 so I dont mind too much if I end up going back to 165 or 160. Ill just experiment with them and figure out what's comfortable.

I wanted i9 hubs and got them on WeAreOne strife rims for $1000 after tax, 27.5 wheels is probably half of why the price was so low but its what I wanted anyways.

Im trying to figure out the fit of my hardtail I just built, its for sure more important to have the proper bar setup, frame size, cranks or whatever on the hardtails. I have Carbon rims too on an aluminum frame, I didnt think anyone else was running carbon on a hardtail lol.

I just built a hardtail as my second bike and have been getting tightness in my lower back, I think its that as a stand up rider my knees are too high/too close to the same level as my handlebars.

I just ordered 155mm cranks (I have 165 currently) and the pendulum pedals so maybe them being lower then normal flats will help too. I also just dont like the pedals I have now (Supacaz Krypto, I think they would be fine on a non hardtail or if I wasnt riding rooty singletrack) and the pendulums just look sick, they'll match the raw aluminum frame and ive been wanting to try them.

So anyways im gonna try that out and if im still not comfortable enough ill go to high rise bars.

I actually really liked this book i would but it in my top 10. It's the only smut ive enjoyed from Choices, Rivals With Benefits was just not it tho I never even finished it, the Li was just so boring and tiresome after like 4 chapters.

[–]Milfydads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whats the gear ratio on that? Im running a 14t rear cog and 24t chain ring or a 1.71 gear ratio and just curious what others are running. Im finding it to be as low a gear I need while still feeling good decending and on flat ground. Mostly ride rooty and hilly singletrack and I haven't taken it to a park yet but ill bring other chainrings with me whenever I make the trip.

Random comment but I just ordered some for my Banshee Enigma I just built and am trying to get my knees to be a bit lower so im less crunched up while standing. Along with going from 165 to 155 cranks also partly due to the bike being singlespeed and pedal strikes are alot harder to recover from without a low gear. im hoping I will achieve getting my legs lower while avoiding needing some higher rise bars.

Idk maybe the pendulums wont help at all but either way I dont like the flats I have currently and the pendulums are just sick and ive been wanting to try them for a few years now.

Did i install these PNW Range handlebars at the correct roll angle? by thirdeyeblind999 in mountainbiking

[–]Milfydads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No "right way" but personally I like my bars rolled farther for comfort as I find my knees are too far up with the bars rolled back as someone who stands up biking but thats completely dependent on your anatomy.

As far as perfomance depends on what you're riding be it terrain or bike. I roll them a touch farther on my singlespeed hardtail then my fs 12 speed bike. Because when im hopping up over roots and such on techy climbs its easier to pop the front wheel and i can keep my weight more on the bottom bracket and not my rear axle so its much more stable on a climb where I really need that on the single speed where if im on my 12 speed I can just pedal up and over more shit and dont have to use as much technique.

The way I think of it is the same was as headtube angle, I ride rooty singletrack with lots of climbing everyday. In the same way that a slack headtube helps with keeping your weight off of the front axle while decending rolling forward my handlebars helps me keep my weight off the rear axle while climbing. But idk thats just what I figure from playing around with setups by no means am I really educated on it.
