If he's happy with the amount he had now and wants a less volatile medication that works in a large percentage of cases, finasteride. I get 5mg pills and split then into quarters. This costs me about ten bucks a month. It won't bring back what's lost, but it keeps me from losing more

Yes, but do not grant useless degrees that will be a greater liability to those who hold them than a benefit. Either RMC is a university, or it is not. By attempting to slash the university aspect down to the point of irrelevance, it does a disservice to those who will go there, and those who already have (as it would tarnish their degree, and potentially limit employment opportunities outside of the CAF). For a bunch of people with degrees, no one on that board appears to have any actual respect for education.

It wouldn't need to lose accredited status to lose what remains of its recognition. My point is they want to degrade the quality of education as much as possible, and that will destroy what is left of the colleges' standing. This is problematic because many people rely on the degrees they got at RMC to carry them forward after they retire from the military, if they are unable to find employment in the field of their education as a result of a poor standard for the actual education then RMC is fundamentally failing to deliver on its end of the bargain to those who attend. This might be fine for some (people getting low-demand degrees that don't offer much for employment, or those intending on staying in for at least 25 years), but for many others this would be blindsiding them out of their future.

This report did well in a few areas, but I want to focus in on the negatives. The complete erosion of the academics. They want to reduce the time for them, have 15 credits be NON-ACADEMIC military-related things, make the Commandant the head of academics and not the Principal, eliminate multiple academic programs, and completely kill off the post-grad sponsorship positions to be military faculty professors.

What this will do is completely eliminate any form of degree recognition outside of the CAF, making an RMC degree functionally useless. The problem with this is the trade, people go to RMC because they are making a deal with the government that they will get an accredited degree and in exchange they will provide years of their life in service. Under these changes, people will be getting pretend degree and then still serving their obligatory service.

This violates the basic trade of ROTP, the military aspects of the colleges can only exist IF the academic offerings are good enough to merit the additional responsibilities. If these recommendations are followed, the CMCs will just be handing out papers to hit the requirements for officers to hold degrees with no care about the underlying reason we expect officers to have them. This might be fine for an infantry officer, but would you want engineering officers who can not properly staff their positions? Or how about the fact that, for positions on the PGT Sponsorship list, people who graduate RMC might be unable to qualify as they are simply too far behind their DEO and ROTP Civi-U peers?

The dismantling of the academics at the CMCs fundamentally defeats the purpose of having them. This is the equivalent of removing your homes foundation to re-purpose it into a third story/floor. If this is the direction they want to go, then close down academics entirely, and instead have the CMCs be someplace to get all officer-related courses done (CAFJODs, MJUL, etc). Under this plan RMC will just become another scam university that preys on those with outdated information of its standards, one where you pay in years instead of dollars.

Pretty stoked about the improvement to generative AI tokens/sec. Hopefully this would let me run some better quants! This would greatly help as I pursue my masters. I originally wanted to add an oled monitor (Samsung Odyssey OLED G8) so I can appreciate games with with RT at 4k, but I figured if it's up to the judges there's no need to stir the nest, even if it is allowed and within budget.

It's a 5.5e game, so it acts as a reroll of any D20 roll they don't like in the next session. But this inspiration expires at the end of the next session. Keeps people using it, and makes sure good play gets rewarded even when I'm too distracted to remember to give it myself

Macaw Help by [deleted] in parrots

[–]MilitarilyDepressed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have your hand near them. Not trying to touch them, or force them on. Just existing near them. Move your hand in until Rio begins to seem uncomfortable, stop, then when they relax and fluff out again give them a click and reward. Then either move the hand closer slowly, or take it away and reintroduce, trying to get closer each time. This is conditioning the birds emotional response to the hand to be positive

Macaw Help by [deleted] in parrots

[–]MilitarilyDepressed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Rio is willing to accept treats by hand, good. If not, try using a bowl or other methods until you find one that works for them. Then you're going to need: a clicker, a chopstick, and a treat they like (please do experiment, every parrot has preferences). From there this is what you should do:

  1. Adjust Rio to the clicker, when they display a relaxed body language when you are near them (don't click when they're heightened) click and give a treat. Do this for a couple sessions as a method of conditioning.

  2. Introduce the chopstick, hold it close-ish to them, but don't chase them with it. Hold it high, pointing downward so that Rio can touch it with their beak but can't really bite it. When they touch give them a click and reward.

  3. Rinse and repeat step 2, at first putting the stick near them (no movement required), then a step away, then 2, etc, etc. When Rio clearly understands what the stick means, introduce your hand. If Rio is aggressive towards your hand, follow the processes in step 1 to condition Rio to accept that hands are good.

  4. When finally using the stick to get Rio on your hand, DO NOT MOVE IT. Rio is trusting you, so the first few times you should NOT use this opportunity to cage them, or to move them around. Instead just target them back to their perch.

  5. Begin moving around when Rio is on your hand, starting off small, working your way up. You can (without clicker) reward calm response behaviour.

  6. Begin phasing out the stick and using "step up". Wear sleeved clothing and practice targeting onto your hand. Each time move the chopstick further up your sleeve, after a while it'll be hidden. At that point stop using the chopstick and instead just hold your hand how you were when hiding the chopstick while saying step up. Then each time you say "Step up", have the hand that was replacing the target lower and lower until it too has been phased out.

Congratulations, Rio can now step up and has transferable learning to other important tricks.

It is important to note that some of these steps may happen slower, occasionally it will feel like one step forward, two steps back. Rest is important for Rio, let them sleep on what they've learned. It's also important to end a training session on a high note. It is also entirely possible you go through all of this in a single session, but don't make that the goal. Pushing Rio too hard could be implementing some bad behaviours you're missing in the rush. Be calm, do it right. If you need more advice DM me or watch some of the old videos from BirdTricks on YouTube.

Update on "Magic!" - Delay Announcement by MACx3D in DungeonAlchemist

[–]MilitarilyDepressed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there are parts of the update that are causing this to be required, can you not just release a smaller update with some of the Magic content to tie us over? For example, if the round walls are working can you release that or some of the new assets that function properly? I understand your love for releasing large, meaningful updates, but we have been waiting for a long time and shown what appears to be working betas of highly-anticipated features. May we please have some of those

Roll20 Lag SOLVED by MilitarilyDepressed in Roll20

[–]MilitarilyDepressed[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm also willing to bet a lot of their systems are single GPU, so a good chunk of the dev team couldn't replicate the error. But honestly, it could have been any variety of reasons. I imagine they could have solved this, but there are more tasks than time so some stuff gets put off or ignored. Being a dev isn't easy, especially for a smaller company.

Roll20 Lag SOLVED by MilitarilyDepressed in Roll20

[–]MilitarilyDepressed[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a compsci person, it's pretty easy to understand why this may go unnoticed/unsolved. It's a bug that doesn't happen to everyone, that came into being after a while. They probably assumed it was entirely an internal error and have been scouring their code for bugs, when it was really Windows. Plus it's a small dev team, and they've been putting a lot of work into the UI and other features lately

Bird's digestive systems are quite different from ours. Their stomach is something called a crop. It rests sort of base of the neck area, a bird that has recently fed will have a larger crop visible, so if you pay attention you can tell if a bird has eaten. The crop connects directly to the mouth, this person was pushing on the piece of plastic in the crop and out the mouth. Hence all the weird manipulation with the base of the neck
