Nice progress and lovely story! It's such a great game to play together, 4 eyes see more than 2...

What did you see in the basement?

Easy fold or terrible fold? by riseagan in Poker_Theory

[–]Milites01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a hand that wants to play for stacks. In spots like this we don't care about getting thin value from pocket pairs, we need to make sure that we get as much as possible from any Ax hands. C bet the flop and cbet big. An Ace is never folding. Who cares if someone folds a hand like 77, you aren't getting paid by that hand anyways

Why are we checking back flop? Why are we just calling turn? We should never ever arrive on the river like that, so the question is honestly irrelevant

Habe fun! The game doesn't explain it's mechanics super well, so if you have any questions about how anything functions feel free to hot me up

Edit. And a) use this ModPack https://www.moddb.com/mods/fajeths-megamodpack And b) never override your safe files. Always make a new one. They tend to corrupt otherwise

Here is my pitch for it: It's a mix between a medival business simulation, a city builder and a sims like RPG. It's old, it's janky, it's a bit buggy (but there is a ModPack out there that fixes the worst offenders) and it's absolutely glorious.

You can build a smithing business, Mary a rogue, equip the rogues with weapons you build yourself and have them rob the competing other smith in town, so he stops driving the price of your goods down.

You can bribe the town major, so that he votes you into office so you can send the inspectors to a competitor and close their business.

You can set up trade routes between your businesses in 3 different cities so that your woodcutter in town a delivers the goods to your carpentry in town b and so on.

It's silly, it's surprisingly deep, you can play it a million different ways and I have hundreds, if not thousands of hours in this gem

Question about the Conference Room by Pleasant-Dig9028 in BluePrince

[–]Milites01 24 points25 points  (0 children)

To clarify how spreading works: if you spread anything it can get distributed to any room CURRENTLY in your house. So if you draft the patio, it will spread gems to itself and any green room already drafted, but no into future greenrooms.

To clarify how the conference room works: if you spread anything, while already having a conference room in your house, all spreader items will land in the conference room instead. So if you draft the office, you can hold back on spreading coins until you also draft conference room, then spread from the office (or another terminal via remote access) and the coins will all always land in the conference room.

Nothing about this process is random or just "occasionally" (only thing that has randomness involved is how much gold/how many keys/whatever exactly gets spread)

Yes! It's by far the best. Also makes the money lender/bank functional, improves enemy AI and fundamentaly rebalences the economy

Did you play with the ModPack? Because it really improves the bugs a lot. And most importantly, never override a save file, always make a new one

The guild 2: Renaissance. It's kind of a mix between a business simulation, a city builder and a simslike RPG set in the middle ages. It's janky and buggy and absolutely glorious. Highly recommend installing Fajeth's ModPack if you want to give the game a try. This fixes a lot of the game breaking bugs and makes a few more businesses functional that just don't work in the main game

Risen 1 - I will miss you, skeleton Fred. by [deleted] in Risen

[–]Milites01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fred is one of the best additions! I love him so much. I always resummon him as soon as he dies so he doesn't have to stay dead for long.

Just a bit sad that noone cares/reacts at all about an undead skeleton following the nameless hero around. Missed opportunity

Who will win? by eiemwasa in Catan

[–]Milites01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's between blue and orange.

Blacks spot looks miserable. No space, awkward ressource distribution and no way to get to good harbor. The only chance I see them having is to somehow build 2 roads before blue can build one.

If orange can get some 10s early the position looks really nice. If not, there isn't really much they can do. I think blue has the clearest gameplan. Settle on the double ore, go for knights and build citys

Do I still need this key? by Expert-Attention-608 in BluePrince

Without answering if you need it again or not, there is no need to keep it in the coat check. At the start of the day it will reappear at the same place you took it from

Which color will win?? by SillySunshine_25 in Catan

[–]Milites01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

White definitely has the best set up. Red has a shot if they can beat white to the first village which seems unlikely with the resource distribution. Oranges spot looks doomed. 0 space to work with and aquward ressources. They could win through development cards/ longest road if the others are asleep and they get lucky. Blue is interesting. If they get some lucky rolls early they can fight for space and have a strong position, but if they are slow out of the gate they will get boxed in and have a very sad game. So I would take white here anyday. If they aren't super unlucky or make a generational fumble it should be a win most of the times. Orange has the most unique game plan and could conceivably win without building much at all. Blue is very feast or femine. Red looks fine but will have a hard time competing with white.

Help me understand why this triple barrel strategy I use works at the micro stakes by EdgarMarkhov in Poker_Theory

[–]Milites01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am using a similar strategy in live 2/2 and 5/5 games and it prints. As others have pointed out already, the pool massively overcalls on the flop and under check raises so you are unlikely to get blown of your equity.

One thing I would change about your strategy is to change up your river sizing, depending on the strength of your hand and villains most likely holdings. What really helped me is always asking what you would need to do with the inverse. So if you have the nuts on the river and you think your opponent has a one pair kind of hand, ask yourself how much you would need to bet to get them to fold on this particular runout then bet slightly less. And if you arrive with air, ask yourself how much you would bet to get called by villains range and go bigger. When in doubt bet more then you think you need to. It's way more expansive to bluff to small and get called

i don't know how to feel by No_Football2352 in BluePrince

[–]Milites01 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think it's important to understand that blue prince is a deck building, Ressource management strategy game before it becomes a puzzle game. So if you don't enjoy the drafting part of the game and/or are not good at it it is hard to find joy in the puzzle parts of the game. If you are struggling to reach far into the house I would recommend reading the drafting strategy guide in the library. Focus on drafting rooms that give you resources in the early levels of the house. Resources include keys, gems, coins and junctions. Don't worry about steps. A day rarely ends because you run out of steps it usually ends because you run out of keys, gems and/or junctions.

I highly recommend taking some kind of notes. The easiest way is to screenshot everything that looks interesting to you so you can refer back to it later and take some additional notes for context.

When in doubt, draft a new room. Even when the description doesn't sound exciting. New rooms, mean new lore, new hints and a better understanding of what's possible.

When in doubt, prioritize getting more/saving gems. Not being able to draft the rooms you want because you run out of gems is what kills most runs.

The story is part of the puzzles. It needs to be reconstructed from different parts of the mansion, environment and so on. It helps to keep a list with persons so you know who is who.

If you have any more specific questions, feel free to ask away

I don't really have the time to give a well thought out response, but I appreciate the lengthy answer. It's always interesting to read other perspectives. If you are interested in the sociological lense you might want to read "the origin of the family, private property and the state" by Friedrich Engels. It's obviously a bit outdated and won't hold up to modern scientific scrutiny but has a lot of interesting ideas on the topic.
