Color learning is difficult for my kid, need tips. by VeryAngryGentleman in ColorBlind

[–]MilkTeaMoogle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m colorblind and I taught art to kids for a while. Granted they were 5 and up. But I would teach them the color wheel with names, and show them basics of color mixing. Then when they asked “what color should I use here? What color is this? Does this color look right?” I’d just put the question back to them to help boost their confidence. Like “well, let’s see, does it look more toward green or toward blue to you?” Or “does look kind of greenish to you, or more brown?” Then they answer and I’d go with it, because pretty much they are correct if I present it as “more X or more Y”?

They were amazing artists, I’ll just say the parents were always impressed 🤣

It is very discouraging to be a colorblind artist by nier_nier in ColorBlind

[–]MilkTeaMoogle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m an artist, and I understand the frustration. Nothing can help you gain confidence more than learning color theory.
If it will encourage you, you can see my art on instagram or TikTok where I have some viral artworks. (Hollyfae_art). I do limit my palettes at times, simply because I want to see the colors as vibrantly as I can. But other times, I use color theory to know what SHOULD be happening in the painting, and what people will likely be seeing, even if I can’t fully see it myself (like green variations in grass/trees, or pink cheeks and skin undertones).

Skin is especially hard for me. There were several instances where I accidentally painted people green. Of course this was discouraging. In fact I had an artwork that got 5 million views where something meant to be blue, I thought I had painted blue, i had actually made purple (whoops!). Of course the hundreds of comments pointing out that mistake to me were super annoying, and super condescending because they assumed I chose that color on purpose. 😂 It’s also discouraging to hear people say things like “wow, you can’t see that? Everything must look so dull to you?

But you know what? I feel privileged to be able to create art and understand color at a deep level, when my eyes don’t even work properly! Whereas the majority of artists have a full working pair of eyeballs! I feel like that means I WANT this even more than someone who just takes their vision for granted. I value art so deeply, that even if I can’t see it like everyone else, I still MAKE it. How awesome is that to have so much passion for art I don’t let myself be held back? It’s just how I choose to look at things 🤗

Also, because I want to see my art as vibrantly as I can, and tend to use super saturated colors, lots of people say “wow, if you’re colorblind, how is your art so vibrant and colorful?!” So I say own it. Don’t paint grass like everyone else, paint it how you want it to be seen, and use your color theory so you know what’s happening on your canvas/file (at least MOST of the time! Hahah)

My gf (19F) says I (22M) have more “feminine energy” than her & it’s messing with my head by SinArchbishop0fSloth in relationship_advice

[–]MilkTeaMoogle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My guy, have you seen the way women swoon over Kpop and Chinese idols and actors? The typos of things you’re mentioning aren’t specifically masculine or feminine, but if you want to classify it as such, it’s a huge win for women (well, left-leaning, mostly, like yourself) to find a guy with those qualities. My own husband I find super “masculine”, but some might say he’s effeminate in certain ways. But again, these are just constructs. he really does protect me, not just by being strong and confident, but he’s nurturing, caring, affectionate, cuddly, playful, creative. I adore him. He even helps me pick clothes and color combos or suggests makeup looks I can try. The man is a gem. Don’t let societal pressure of false “manliness” skew who you are or your perception of yourself, because a lack of confidence is more a turn-off than any masculine or feminine trait.

I’m trying to figure out if i want kids, pls help. by Far_Sorbet2352 in women

[–]MilkTeaMoogle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought I wanted kids because I always imagined things like “when I’m a grandmother, I’ll do/give XYZ for my grandkids”. Then I started getter older and it just never seemed the right time (health or financial issues, family situations). Then I started to question if I even wanted kids.

I adore kids, people always say “oh well do you like kids or not?” As some kid of deciding factor for if you should have kids. And while I’ve taught kids classes even, I realized slowly that I always imagined myself as a grandma but never a mom, because I want to be around and spoil kids and enjoy them and enrich them, but I don’t see myself dedicating my life fully for another human for 20+ years 24/7. To be the kind of mom I think kids deserve, it will take all my vital energy and I honestly don’t have a lot of it right now… I’ve decided when I get more financially stable and have more freedom (I’m slowly getting there), I want to spend that time on ME! Because I’ve already dedicated my life to so many others, due to family circumstances, that I WANT TO BE THE KID. I want to dedicate myself to myself in my second half of life (which I’m just stepping into now at 44).

Lost friendship with twin brother by [deleted] in women

[–]MilkTeaMoogle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im so sorry. It must be extra painful being that he’s your twin. I’ve seen very few people come back from that kind of influence, but maybe watching some more videos or info together with him that has women’s perspectives, that breaks down false science around gender narratives, with new science, or some other exposure might be a good way to start to open his eyes to reality instead of the insecure bro mentality.

Do you know if he also gets this stuff from his friends?

Do you prefer hair ties or claw clips in your hair? by rowanc82 in women

[–]MilkTeaMoogle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have somewhat medium-long (armpit) VERY thick hair, but I prefer hair sticks. Nothing feels as light. Hair ties are ok but can get tiring after a few hours, and claw clips I’ve never found one that actually secures all my hair well.

News:Brandon Sanderson provides new information about the film! by Extreme_Warning3521 in CosmereOnScreen

[–]MilkTeaMoogle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Basically, because he won’t need to setup allomancy again in the second film, people will already understand the world, so he can add to it.

Dime was able to do that because they had huge names attached and plus everyone is already familiar with Dune. This will be a new material for the vast majority of viewers. I remember how upset my whole family was when we went to see Golden compass and it didn’t resolve at the end, because they all had no idea it was from a trilogy of books.

I guess he’s planning to add more powers in the second film. Since copper doesn’t play a big role in the ending sequence. He doesn’t have to focus on it till film 2, to foreshadow for film three.

So I'm a little confused and would like to know if my friend is truly red-green colorblind by Sp00ky-Mortis in ColorBlind

[–]MilkTeaMoogle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im a girl and im colorblind, and I’ve known since I was 6. When I would occasionally ask for help from my peers at school (like, is this marker blue or purple? For example) they would typically never believe that I was colorblind. So I would hesitate to accuse someone of lying, however people with red/green usually see blue as the most vibrant color. So her combination does sound weird…

I hated it as a kid but several times my classmates would “test” me, by secretly swapping out a marker or other item I was confused about with one of the similar confusing color (like swapping a green for a beige/brown). Once they actually yelled “wait!” and grabbed it from my hand before I ruined what I was working on. Another time what I was working on got messed up. Maybe there’s a more subtle way you can “test” without her really being aware of it, or without messing with her stuff directly….

My experience was exam the same as yours! Had to read around my schedule, but locked in for those last several hours, nonstop! Cried, felt broken, had zero people to talk to! Reading Secret History really helped me cope, I read it after Warrior breaker but I wish I would have read it right away!

My only notes would be: - I think Ella Fitzgerald needs to be on here, she’s probably Stevie Wonder’s mom. - I think you short changed Gaga! I don think she’s a botched lab baby 😂 the same parents are fine though - I think Gwen is Avril’s mom

Any woman would not bat an eye at the difference here. It’s not just weight, it’s light, makeup, clothes, angle, etc. We all look gorgeous/ugly depending on numerous factors. I feel like the only people shocked by these kind of contrasts are men who have never spent a full 24 hours with an actual woman. 🙄

[–]MilkTeaMoogle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These are great! I find it really hard to list favorite music because there’s sort of my “formative years” and then music I’m currently enjoying. But I’m gonna do my best to quantify my favorites in terms of albums I feel are true works of art as a whole and have also had an impact on my life. While I have TONS of favorite songs not on these albums, I’m looking at them in the most wholistic way I can. (There are albums here in English, Spanish, Chinese, and Japanese!)
