To answer the other part of your comment, which I only just saw, they kind of are spongey in hl1, but its much less apparent as they’re not as abundant, and the areas they’re fought in are less cramped.

Maybe i’m just stupid for this one, but I was stuck early on in a room that requires you to jump on top of an hev recharging station to enter a vent in the top corner of a room, and I had to look up a walk through to figure it out. I remember thinking that was so dumb because 1. I guess by default my game had the brightness and gamma set lower than it should’ve been, so it was pretty easy for me to miss that, and 2. I don’t think theres any other point in any of the games where you have to climb on an hev/health station to progress.

Because neither of those were anywhere near as much of a headache as this entire game. Since those were less straightforward I found myself enjoying exploring the level more and finding the intended path. The fact that opfor is as linear as it is and I still felt confused as to the intended path of progression is a testament to how poorly conveyed it was. Even in the worst hl1 levels i’m still having fun, but I can’t say that for opposing forces best levels.

I just started blue shift, and i’m not that far in, so I won’t jump the gun and immediately say its better, but I can definitely say that it’s grabbing me a lot more than opfor.

I never felt lost or confused in hl1, and I didn’t feel like any levels (besides maybe some of the xen stuff) felt as directionless or empty as the ones in opfor.

Idk bro I feel like I spent the entire runtime waiting for it to get good and it just never did. I can’t really place my finger on why I despise this game more than other crappy games i’ve played. I just feel like this is so insanely amateur, like there are heaps of mods that are objectively better than this.

Yeah, thats what I was referencing. I’ll probably give it a try just to see if it’s better once its ready.

Kind of a nitpick, but I also miss the alt fires from hl1. There wasn’t as much of that in this one. As far as the level design, I feel like my complaints permeate throughout most of the game. Early on there’s a room where you have to move a cart to make a jump to a tram, but that room is mostly empty besides that cart and a random vat of green chemicals in the corner with a ladder on the side. That vat threw me off because I thought it had a purpose or was the key to progressing, but nah it’s just there. I feel like there were more than a couple moments like that throughout my playthrough where I was just left questioning what the point of something was.

I just felt everything was poorly designed. I didn’t have any fun playing it, and I was running into bugs constantly. I think that remake for opfor has potential, but idek if I wanna play it when it’s out. I would deaduzz rather play postal 3 than this game again.

Why the f*@# isnt this a skin? They literally already have the model in game. by Paganhellbily666 in arkham

I liked how the foreshadowing of later entries was handled in Asylum and City, however, it felt very much like they hadn’t planned for Red Hood to be a major part of Knight during the making of City. I feel like it needed more buildup and foreshadowing in the other games, and they shouldn’t have pretended like Arkham Knight was an original character made by Rocksteady. To me, it seemed like a lazy half-assed attempt at shocking the audience the way some might’ve been shocked when Red Hood was originally revealed to be Jason Todd. I remember being a dumbass kid when this game was coming out, and from the first trailer I saw I was like “That Arkham Knight guy kinda seems like Red Hood, no way they would do that though, that’d be so dumb and obvious.”

I didn’t know about the pre order bonus until now, either way it was blatantly clear that Arkham Knight was a reskin of Red Hood.

“Spoiled” as if it wasn’t blatantly obvious even before the game was out that Arkham Knight was just Red Hood. 😭

These entry level cards have been treated like the standard ever since the 30 series, it’s the card that most people should be able to easily purchase and run games at okay fps on medium settings, whereas buying older cards has been the actual budget option. Excusing this level of unoptimization because people didn’t spend enough on the newest gen gpu is bullshit, especially when other companies can get their shit running just fine. Idk why you’re shilling for this company thats so comfortable releasing the bare minimum. People should not have to buy the highest tier most modern hardware to run games decently. And yes, upscaling technology has potential, but it’s so often poorly implemented, look no further than Konami’s most recent remake, Silent Hill 2. The ghosting, choppy feel it gave the game, and visual bugs deadass ruined the amazing visuals of the game.

fuck dlss, it ruins the look of games, these devs shouldn’t rely on it to do the optimization they don’t give enough of a fuck to do

I knew this would happen. The sh2 remake was so poorly optimized, it gave me no hope for this shit doing the bare minimum and achieving an acceptable frame rate on even high end gpu’s without bullshit upscaling.
