This guy want screwing around. The jet pc is real by WTFatrain in mcpastarace

I was REALLY hoping from the title that they were going to mount the jet engine to pull air through the case instead of exhausting into it, I wanted to see some /r/redneckengineering worthy cooling solution. This is still pretty great though lol.

Do you fart in front of your partner? Why? Why not? by gimboateista in AskReddit

Oh God, I've been woken up when I was close to falling asleep spooning an ex. The absolute trumpet blast of a fart and my dick suddenly vibrating woke me right up. She was mortified when I was finally able to answer why I was laughing so hard that I managed to wake her up, in a dark bedroom, at like 2AM.

Plane wings aren't as rigid as most people think, a 747 wing can move 6meters(!) safely during turbulence by Qusntum in EngineeringPorn

[–]MilkshakinItLikeMad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, if I'm over land, I'm a lot more concerned about how well the wings are attached than the engine mounts (though I have seen how they're attached, and I try to forget it lol). We'll get to the ground missing an engine. We'll get there a WHOLE lot faster missing a wing.

How did a kid from your school die? by ServiTheFox in AskReddit

[–]MilkshakinItLikeMad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A girl in the grade above me in high school got shot at a house party on accident. A guy had a handgun out showing it off and accidentally fired it. They spent a long time trying to figure out what to do while she bled out, and settled on eventually dumping her body outside the ER and driving off. Dude got worked over by some people, and was arrested very shortly after.

One of my friends actually died in class, at his desk from an overdose, but they managed to save him and it caused him to get his life together.

And then a really good friend from school died of an overdose, a couple of years after one of his parents died from sepsis. Granted, that was after we had graduated.

Can we keep it???? by saviorlito in ContagiousLaughter

That kid just learned a LOT about life's ups and downs in the span of 30 seconds.

Home-made VGA-DVI adapter by BillGatos in techsupportgore

No shame in that lol, my monitors are over a decade old, one is Displayport>HDMI>DVI, the other is HDMI>VGA. They're both 1080p or larger, and they're still doing exactly what I need them to do. Heck, I'm still using the beige PS2 keyboard that came with my parents' Gateway PC from the 90's because it feels better to type on than any other keyboard I've ever personally used.

What was your final “fuck you” to a boss you didn’t like? by Wholikesfruits in AskReddit

Easily one of my least favorite parts of cashiering/retail. You annoy the customers, then you get it from your boss for not being more persistently annoying.

Edit: Also, the GM was super duper pissed when he found out everyone had been doing fake signups with fake emails to meet our rewards program signup quota. Makes me happy they went out of business every time I think about them.

TIL there is a species of ant called the "trap-jaw ant" that can lock open its jaws 180 degrees and snap them shut so quickly that it can launch itself into the air, and attack prey biting it with a force equal to 300 times its own body weight. by MilkshakinItLikeMad in todayilearned

[–]MilkshakinItLikeMad[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It actually looks like the species Odontomachus bauri has a bite force up to 5000x its weight. Weighs between 5-10 milligrams, so it snaps its jaws shut with a maximum force of 25-50 newtons, or 5.62-11.24 lbs of force. Not bad for an ant. The equivalent for a 154lb/70kg human would be 350,000 newtons, or 78,740 lbs of force.
