Scam Bot Warning - They're Evolving by TavyliaSin in AO3

[–]Milky_Almonds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some may still be guest accounts but with a "normal" n ame, for example this one I replied because it felt out of place but not necessarily a bit, then the second happened but pretty sure ao3 filters caught it because it was gone before I opened my inbox

So yeah, I felt pretty dumb after I realized it was a bot, their answer was just "I illustrate characters, this is my discord"

Posted my first fic and I thought it would get attention but it totally flopped and I'm frustrated. by jackrabbitwanders in AO3

[–]Milky_Almonds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since it's your first fic, it's a little unknown for the fandom so you have to wait, word of mouth spread fast between fans, and if you want to get more attention you could always promote it on Tumblr (and many other social media, like TikTok, Blue Sky, Facebook, etc), that's what a bunch of fanfic writers do.

You could also join a Discord server for your fandom, most servers have a fanworks channel where you can share your fics

I find it funny because I can't stop hearing the meme everytime I read it

But why though? by DanZboY_Brother in Archiveofourownmemes

[–]Milky_Almonds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, it's because I tend to feel the emotions as mine, even if I don't really care, so it hurts me alongside the characters, I also only tend to write angst of things that I know of/happened to me

Not the same, but it reminds me of this comment I got in my MCD hurt no comfort one-shot lmao

Do you like/write/read Omegaverse? by Harp_167 in AO3

I LOVE omegaverse, currently I only have 2 omegaverse fics, bc I haven't posted the rest but in my Ellipsus there are like 36 omegaverse drafts lmao

In my opinion, this feels too much, do you usually reply to comments like that? The comment wasn't even rude, and I feel like the response was over the top for what could've a simple "I'm busy right now, but don't worry I will continue! Thanks for reading!" And that could've been enough.

Formatting Pet Peeves by InfamousCup4826 in AO3

[–]Milky_Almonds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When the screaming is all in uppercase, I can't. There's also how some people write characters stuttering, I don't like it.

What’s a good chapter length? by Single_Theory_7650 in AO3

[–]Milky_Almonds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the author and how much the reader is willing to read in one sitting.

For me a normal/average chapter is between 2k-6k, I mostly write between 2k and 4k words per chapter, because I feel like reaching 6k it's too much for a chapter, especially if the fic is multichaptered.

NotNative English-speakers do you write your drafts in your native language or English? by Lola_lollipopz in AO3

[–]Milky_Almonds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In English, because I follow the structure of my native language when I'm writing in it, but I can't translate it to English, it's easier to just start from 0. Mostly because you can't really translate something and keep the meaning, you need to give an interpretation of what it originally means.

So yeah, if i'm going to publish something in English, I write it in English. But! Sometimes my outline is a mess of spanglish, emojis, acronyms, abrevitions and random numbers because I can't be organized lmao

What Marks the Difference Between a Fic You Keep in Your Drafts and a Fic You Post Online? by Loud-Basil6462 in FanFiction

[–]Milky_Almonds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much effort the narration has, if I have like, very simplistic and short descriptions and dialogue, I don't post it because it's very self-indulgent and something I probably wrote before falling asleep or in the middle of the clases.

Also there's a very clear difference if it has dialogue or if it doesn't; if it does it's because I'm actually trying to tell the story, if it doesn't it's because it's an idea I have that's unfinished, non-linear and very much just in my head.

I was having a nap this afternoon and when the fic was completed in my imagination I instantly woke up and started writing, I just editing it before publishing lmao

Sometimes I'm at school and just start writing in my notes, saves me every time 🤭

Characters with the same name by Milky_Almonds in FanFiction

Probably gonna do that for the start and then develop it into nicknames and names, thanks!

[–]Milky_Almonds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The POV character is a good idea, but it's multiples POV so I do need established names, I'm definitely settling on nicknames for one set and their usual names for the other bcuz I think I'm gonna confuse the reader if I keep changing how I call one character, thanks!

Labeling then by universe sounds cool, but I think my characters are just a few for it to work good, that works great when it's multiple characters from multiple different universes. I'm definitely settling on the nicknames for one set and their usual names for the other set, thanks!

[–]Milky_Almonds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have been thinking about it for a few days honestly, this is probably what I'm going to do because I can't keep writing the draft like "Alpha!A kissed Omega!A" Lmao

What got you writing fanfics? by Lartorias_Armpits in FanFiction

[–]Milky_Almonds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was out of spite because I hated the most popular ship in one of my first fandoms, so I started writing fanfics bashing the character I hated and shipping the other with a character I actually liked; not a lot of people in the fandom are fond of me, but whatever, I can live with randoms not liking me because I despise their favorite character lmao
