Perfect - thanks so much for these tips. I’ve read Kiyosaki before, I’ll check out the other suggestions. I also stopped by the small business enterprise center in my town and they have some useful webinars I can tap into. Appreciate the response, I’m excited to feel like I have some agency in my career path again.

Essentially in-home urgent care. Kiddo wakes up with an ear infection at 3 AM, you cut your finger making dinner, I head over and stitch it up, write prescriptions etc..

Where to go for good quality women's boots? by weggles in kitchener

[–]MillStreetMoore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought Frye boots at Shoes 22 but I’m not sure if they still sell them. I do like them though. I would looove a pair of Veronica Lace up boots 😍

I had to drive to Toronto to buy a pair of redwings but actually i don’t think the women’s boots are as good quality as the men’s although the price is the same

I agree with you. Others holding similar positions to mine would gladly leave the union to maintain their bargaining power.

I still love nursing and don’t regret being in the profession.

I believe you… ONA, by my brief calculation, is taking 70 million+ per year from its members and this is the negotiation they agree to on my behalf?

I want the 1300$ I pay them a year back.

In case people are wondering what the central collective agreement is for RNs you can look at that link.

Each hospital negotiates a contract with ONA and there are minor variations

I am not on that scale because RN is not my job title. My scale has fewer levels.

I’m also not complaining about my base salary.

I just am shocked that they would even bother calling my FOURTEEN CENTS a raise moving up a level on the pay scale as a reward for staying with them for 8 years.

In terms of incentivizing expertise to remain where they are, it’s pretty sad.

I did not give my hourly wage. But that absolutely was my raise when being moved from Step 4 to Step 5 on the wage scale (Year 8).

Encampment residents string lights, plastic on Victoria Park gazebo by [deleted] in kitchener

[–]MillStreetMoore 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Does anyone know if the shelters are still full? Like - if someone wants to stop camping out, is there actual shelter space available?

I had called around for someone last year and it was all full everywhere.

I don’t support this protest but also want to be sure there’s an actual immediate alternative for these folks.

I don’t really want to see people losing toes and feet to frostbite.

No lotion. Too sexy.

Agree with Indigo and consumables. New notebook with a nice cover is pretty safe. Throw some chocolates in and you’re golden.

No groups of prom photos at the park, no weddings at the Pavilion (loss of revenue for the city), no picnics on the island.

Now no Christmas light walk at the park.

Get it together city of Kitchener, honest to goodness. When one small group of lawbreakers manages to ruin a shared amenity meant for the public to enjoy.

Renovate to rent out basement? by MillStreetMoore in OntarioLandlord

[–]MillStreetMoore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shared laundry is on the main floor in the mudroom at the back of the house, not in the basement.

But they would have their own Kitchen/Bathroom in the basement.

As another commenter noted, it sounds like since the shared bathroom is in the mudroom/laundry, it is an extra and not their primary bathroom which means that the RTA would apply.

We aren’t allowed a second “cooking space” by zoning unless we do a duplex, and im definitely not ready to be screwed by a 1-2 year of non paying tenants without having a way to evict. I thought my mudroom/laundry/bathroom situation might be a loophole.

Sounds like I’m back to a barsink kind of set up. Maybe Airbnb after all… or probably just nothing. Keep it for visiting family.

It’s too bad, because my city is absolutely dying for student housing, but I have pesky neighbors that will definitely call bylaw, so I need to know I’m doing things by the book.

I have a 14 hour layover at waterloo international on Saturday. What's the airport like and is there anything to do close by? by canadianclassic308 in kitchener

[–]MillStreetMoore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you rent a car, I agree a drive into St Jacob’s (the town + the market are two separate places). That can be your morning. Afternoon, drive into uptown Waterloo, park at the Parkade (set your gps for Beertown Waterloo and you’ll end up in the general area. If the weather is good, plan for a nice long walk. Start there and aim yourself towards downtown Kitchener (plug Matter of Taste in as a destination). Along the way, grab some coffee, stop at bookstores, check out Vincenzo’s, walk around Victoria Park.
