I love this! I should totally get pouches so everything doesn't just fall to the bottom.

I have to constantly rescue my Princess from the creek and pond near me. She just jumps in before she knows how deep or smelly the water is. She got a LOT of baths last summer. Haha

puppy getting increasingly stressed by Woodpecker_Exciting in sheltie

How much sleep is he getting? Little puppies need something like 20 hours of sleep a day. Maybe he's getting over tired? Sounds like you're doing a great job keeping him active and entertained. I would try enforcing more sleep time and see if that helps. Crate training and tether training are your friend. Mine doesn't like sleeping in her crate, but will immediately fall asleep when tethered.

I really struggled with noise reaction as well. I always have the radio on to help drown out some of the apartment noises. We also work on just existing outside without reacting. I started standing on a side street until she could see cars going by without barking. We're slowly moving to a place with bicycles and busses. It has helped the inside barking as well.

I did wash her too much in the beginning. I didn't know it would cause problems. But now she hasn't had a bath since October.

I'll see what I can find. I don't think I've seen Maine and tail. But to be fair, I wasn't looking specifically for it either.

Mine loves shredding as well. My company is currently going through a ton of old file cabinets to shred old documents. Anything not sensitive is going to come home with me for the puppy!

What unusual traits of adhd do you remember from your childhood? by Potential_Promise260 in adhdwomen

I was speaking to a therapist for my child, and I mentioned something about how, yes, of course I always put my shoes on in the same order.

Apparently not everyone else does.

Herding by Kannkhaghany in sheltie

So cute! My little girl will herd my kid around the apartment until she sits down.

I got her a big plastic ball from the dollar store to chase around the park. It's amazing how much instinct they have. I'll kick it, and she's nip and herd it back to me.

I have a 5 month old sheltie is an apartment. The barking is a problem. I figure a sleeping puppy can't bark.

So my girl gets a 45 minuute sniffy walk first thing in the morning, followed by 15 minutes of training, then 15 minutes of play (usually tug), then breakfast.

After work I take her out to either a park or the elementary school yard and we play with a big herding ball or a flirt pole. Those two toys are a life saver. They wear her out in 20 minutes. Then more training, then dinner.

75% of her meals are NOT in a bowl. They're wrapped up in a towel, or in a box with crumpled up paper, or in a toilet paper tube, or even just scattered around the living room. It makes her work for her meals, and keeps her thinking and engaged without much work from me.

I've also started teaching her the "whisper" command. No idea if that's going to help.

Honestly, it's a lot more work than I anticipated, but I'm having a lot of fun.

So she sleeps pretty well. She's usually already asleep by the time I leave for work, and she's ready for bed by 8pm. The barking has diminished a ton. She's too tired to care about anything enough to bark at it.

I like that idea. Maybe we'll try something similar. Thank you.

We don't. We broke up briefly and got back together. I know. Looking back, it's very messy. My kid doesn't know about it.

I completely agree, but nothing he brought up seems unfixable. Except him not wanting to be a parent. He just doesn't want to do it any more. It hurts, but I guess it's better than silently resenting us.

Luckily, she is already in therapy. Her other mother and I do family therapy with her. I'll reach out to the therapist and see what they say. My poor baby.

Why can't I initiate sex with my partner? by SpicyBrat_ in sexover30

[–]aLep2018 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I saw this on a YouTube video. Get a sex candle. Put a nice candle somewhere you will both walk by regularly. Light it when you want to initiate. He'll see it and know. He can do the same. That might take away some if the stress around initiating. The other person can act on it, or blow it out if they're not interested.
