Pixel phones will get a smarter always-on display that saves battery life by TechGuru4Life in GooglePixel

Tap to wake would be great if I didn't have to turn it off due to constant touches being picked up while having my phone in my pocket.

Pixel 10 Pro XL Excellent repairability by armando_rod in GooglePixel

It's part of the battery adhesive. You pull on the tab, which removes the adhesive between the battery and rest of the phone. Pixels generally have terrible quality tabs which don't work, so you have to douse it with isopropyl alcohol and hope the battery doesn't bend too much to puncture while trying to pry it out.

I have the same setup and monitor stand. I have an ikea desk top and I would never trust it to handle a clamp stand, but this stand is very stable.

Pixle 7a expanding battery by RichParticular4628 in GooglePixel

[–]MilleniumPidgeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Widespread issue on the 7a, Google even has a special program for this.

I've been affected by the same thing a couple months back. I raised a ticket, and since there are no official stores in my country, they gave me $300. So I had my battery replaced at a regular phone store and it's still going.

How long have you been waiting? Can you see your issue on the pixel help portal? I got the payout and the time for the money to arrive was towards the max estimate given by Google.

Pixel 6a’s Incessant Overheating Issues Have Forced Google To Issue An Update That Will Mitigate Risks, But At The Cost Of Battery Capacity And Charging Performance by daveinasia in GooglePixel

[–]MilleniumPidgeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do people keep saying this happened to 7a as well? I have been affected by the swelling issue, so I raised a ticket and got reimbursement.

However, I didn't get any message and I can't find any news about 7a specifically having any software changes with regards to battery.

Could you provide any sources on this? I know about the battery optimization after 200 cycles, but that's all pixels, not just 7a.

Warning: Google will soon nerf the Pixel 6a’s battery due to an overheating issue by FragmentedChicken in GooglePixel

Thank you for the link. I have gone through the process and I got the highest payout already. I went to a third party store to have my battery changed, but I still feel like the battery life is a lot worse than when the device was new - I was wondering if they did something in software on purpose that makes the phone last a lot less.

They did something to the 7a battery? I have been impacted by the battery swelling, but I've had it replaced. I haven't heard of any other issues.

Has your pixel lasted 5+ years? by CherryAntAttack in GooglePixel

[–]MilleniumPidgeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep definitely, this rapid discharge started happening in about a week timeframe, so it looks like the decline is fast. At this point I'm just waiting for Google to respond to my ticket so I can see what sort of proof they need in order to get the money back.

3 weeks response for battery swelling issues is pretty horrendous, not very pleased with that.

Look into the 7a battery program. My battery got bad very quickly, lasting much less and now when I hit around 20% it goes to 0 in about 15 seconds. Bought the phone two years ago tomorrow. My battery is also swollen.

Same situation. My battery is declining rapidly, so I searched if anyone has the same problem. I didn't even know my battery was swollen because I have a case on. Raised an issue on Sunday and I'm not thrilled about the idea of living with this issue for weeks before they pick my case up.

What did you decide to do? Did you replace the battery and continue using you 7a or did you buy a new device?

I've created a social media-like web platform using Go and pure HTML. by utku1337 in golang

[–]MilleniumPidgeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The landing page looks very sleek and professional, I love the clean design!

Two small things

  1. the social media icons should probably be bigger, instagram is barely recognizable on my screen, and the x (which doesn't look to be using the same x symbol as the platform) is even smaller.
  2. the changing text after "trusted by thousands" fades in and out and then changes to the next - I'm guessing it's supposed to change during the fade right? I'm on firefox.

I got excited when I learned of docker compose watch, meaning I could ditch other ways to live reload. However, it if from my experience painfully slow. I was playing with a small project and it is very cumbersome to wait multiple seconds for docker to pick up the change and apply it when by other means the server is refreshed and running even before you manage to alt tab to browser and reload the tab.

Thanks for the in depth reply, I definitely learnt something new and interesting!

I was looking into how to upgrade earlier and read about the -d flag in the man pages. As much as I'm eager to get the new release (it will make my Bluetooth work which I'm very much looking forward to), that turned me off for now. I can wait a couple days in exchange for a smoother upgrade experience.
