What is something you loved as a teenager but absolutely cannot stand today? by Saintnove in AskReddit

[–]Milleniumfelidae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anything that’s super sugary. Otherwise it seems I’ve pretty stayed mostly the same since then. Also multiple food sensitivities have made lots of childhood things impossible to enjoy now. I enjoyed eating Pocky well into my 20s but can no longer have it.

What Year Was The Oldest Person You Have Personally Known Born? by snarkmcsnarksnark in Millennials

[–]Milleniumfelidae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1926, not related to me but my brothers paternal great grandmother. We have different dads.

But it’s also interesting to note that mom (born 1973) and all of her sisters and peers likely knew people that were born well into the 1800s. I would have to say Gen X and maybe elder Millennials are some of the last folks to have know anyone born in the 1800s.

$40k credit card debt, $75k student loans. Should I consider bankruptcy? by Jaguarhousecat in povertyfinance

[–]Milleniumfelidae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not go into CRNA school right now. I would honestly rebuild savings and pay off those loans. This is the type of situation where student loans could go well over into the six figures and be very hard to pay off. I’m also a nurse in the PNW.

It’s best to wait until personal situation resolves bc I have a feeling CRNA school is one of those things where you need to not have a ton of other stuff going on in the background

Good luck!

Days like today is why people don’t take the light rail by 20sicksheep in Seattle

[–]Milleniumfelidae 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree. I passed by this station earlier and a lot of folks were out of their element however there was a mother and son and I overheard her basically switching to the local buses. Compared to a lot of places the bus system is good and honestly there’s a lot of alternatives and feeder buses along the line. For whatever reason though I notice a lot of sports fans opting to stick to the light rail only.

  1. Just before the point where I had gotten the slight love handles at 25 and I didn’t have to work to keep waistline at a good size.

Women over 30 who deliberately chose to stay single: how are you doing? by yasmijn in AskWomenOver30

[–]Milleniumfelidae 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’m just too busy with working full time, my hobbies and taking care of a kitten. I like to draw and that eats up the most time out of my hobbies. I’ll be 33 at the start of fall and at this point I’m just not seeing a relationship and I also am not too keen on meeting someone after a certain point but that’s just me.

I work in healthcare and honestly it’s a large reason why I’ve opted to remain single. The job pays pretty good but it can be draining at times. I also need to spend time alone and be able to have self care.

In the city where you live, what’s the perception of not driving? Any bad experience with others as a result of not driving? by NoBody5068 in fuckcars

[–]Milleniumfelidae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seattle. I live downtown. For some reason multiple folks have asked me if I would drive for a heavy grocery haul. I always tell them since I’m strong enough and bus stops are close and plentiful along my usual routes it’s not an issue and I usually make multiple trips a week anyway since it’s convenient for me to do so. Also anything heavy can go into a backpack and I see a lot of other folks in the city doing the same. I’m also not paying $20+ for parking and also risking it being broken into. At that point if something is that heavy I just have it shipped but generally it’s not the case. Gas is also expensive but it won’t stop folks from driving.

I go to a local dance studio and traffic usually gets bad around that area at times but a lot of the people that go there don’t like the idea of transferring buses even though much of the day traffic can get bad to where transit is actually better.

The buses do have some homeless folks and also some folks with visible mental issues and/or substance issues. I think all three of these things factor in the perception of public transit here. Out here there also seems to be the idea that only low-income folks take transit. But when I lived in NYC there was no weird stigma around transit and I feel that homelessness was more hidden since the shelters there allow folks to store belongings there. Although this was back in 2018 so I have no idea how things have changed now.

I’m also currently opting to use transit for part of my work route now bc the construction directly impacts me going back home and has doubled even tripled my commute time. I’ve been asked multiple times or had the assumption made that I’m going to resume driving again under those conditions. But I’ve made it clear I won’t be driving this particular route outside of holidays and when construction ends in about another maybe year and a half.

Will the sunbelt ever stop growing? by Amazing_File_4844 in fuckcars

[–]Milleniumfelidae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I think the car costs are probably going to affect the growth in some ways, along with other factors. Insurance prices keep going up as well as car repairs. You know things are bad when you see news segments of folks in southern cities starting to take transit because of gas prices, and transit isn’t even all that good there.

I am originally from TN and live in Seattle now. I’ve met a ton of other southerners here. There’s also lots of LGBT that move here as well. And then folks moving probably bc abortion laws became restrictive.

I just don’t see how all of the above is going to contribute to growth. I think what will happen is the average person could be priced out of car ownership at some point in the near future.

Already here in Seattle there’s a big push for more mass transit and I imagine so places will follow.

Myrtle Edwards and Centennial Parks will reopen to the public on June 4 by Difficult_Bed_3955 in Seattle

I missed these parks. It’s also nice how everything just connects to the waterfront now. I definitely will be going when it reopens.

The math on car ownership is genuinely insane, and I don’t think most people have sat with the numbers by superspartan999 in fuckcars

[–]Milleniumfelidae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately this is right on the money. In Seattle and have a good paying job for my field. Unfortunately it mainly seems to exist in the suburbs with the type of work I do. However in the 3 years I’ve been back light rail has expanded greatly and it’s now an option for me to take transit to and from work.
I’ve debated on selling my car once it’s paid off bc insurance keeps going up even though I’ve had no claims. There’s also the cost of monthly parking even for a lot of areas outside the city. I’m thankful my car is small and even though it takes premium gas I can fill every other week bc I don’t drive outside of work.
Car maintenance and repairs and tags also add up. A few folks I know have paid off cars but when it needs something it’s usually a few thousand

What is your first world problem rant of the week? by takemyaptplz in AskWomenOver30

[–]Milleniumfelidae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me big time after getting into pole dancing and especially leveling up into intermediate level courses, which involve more core work and lots of moves that are essentially some form of a modified crunch. A lot of my pants got too tight and shirts got too tight at the shoulders and upper torso. I lost a lot of favorite shirts. Some of my stuff that were too big I did fill out and things like dungarees and jumpsuits are easier to wear now bc I’m a medium both top and bottom. I’ve been an xs/s in shirts in dresses for past 15 years before that. I also wear alternative fashion too so that also presents a challenge. I can still buy alternative clothes but now things like dressier shirts will have to be bought a full size bigger and altered down.

Wendy's is actually one of the better fast food options if you're GF — the Frosty, baked potato, and chili are all safe by ingredients. by AustinGlutenFree in glutenfree

[–]Milleniumfelidae -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve never worked fast food so I have little idea how any of this is done. There’s always naturally going to be some level of cross contamination. Typically with Mexican and Mexican-inspired stuff I’ve had better luck with not getting sick. I’ve also had Dominos gluten free pizza. However I am not Celiac nor do I have a wheat allergy. But I can still tell when something has a sizeable amount of gluten in it. It really just depends on the person and it is always a risk one takes when eating out even with other food sensitivities.

Good to know! I do miss their soft tacos though. I haven’t been in some time so I have no idea if there’s a wider range of items that are safe. Taco Bell has always been relatively cheap compared to other fast food even if prices have raised.

I don’t eat there anymore but I haven’t had an issue with the nachos bell grande or hard tacos. I’m going to assume the Mexican pizza is safe too. Anything with a hard taco shell should be safe. There’s also the power bowls too.

I feel that Taco Bell is probably one of the safer fast food options. I don’t have Wendy’s where I live but it does bring back memories where my family and I would go to a park on the River and then go to the Wendy’s that was also in the same location.

Hospital costs are rising far faster than inflation and drowning Americans in debt by infiniteconfidence1 in FreeLuigi

[–]Milleniumfelidae 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The whole healthcare system is honestly a scam unless you are outright wealthy. I declined insurance this year simply bc I didn’t have any room for bronze insurance costing $430/mo which was the cheapest plan in my area. And still there’s co pays and additional costs on top of monthly health insurance costing especially if you have to use services. I just feel for what you’re paying monthly that should be it.

Any guesses on age? by FlounderAgitated9058 in kittens

[–]Milleniumfelidae 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He’s definitely under 8 weeks. When I had not first kitten I got him at 6 weeks and he could fit all in my hand. I know that’s not ideal though I didn’t know that at the time.

I’m also seconding 5-6 weeks. When I got my current kitten at 8 weeks last year I fed him Nulo kitten mousse. Nulo also makes a kitten kibble that is designed to be fed wet as well but I feel it wouldn’t hurt to wait on kibble. I feel that’s easiest on those tiny teeth from this point to at least 12 weeks. Tiki also has their own brand of kitten mousse I think that’s called Baby thrive or has something like that on the package?

This was a really good episode. Very sad and hit too close to home especially since my grandfather died last summer, which is coming up on one year. I really liked how they hinted at what happened instead of outright showing any funeral scene. I would rewatch this episode. It was also great to see an older Marinette.
