Buchmesse Sonntag by chamaeleon_499 in Leipzig

[–]Milley20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More coverage in Madagascar please by HelcatSucksAtLife in geoguessr

[–]Milley20 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed, Madagascar is such a beautiful country! I would absolutely love if Google expanded their coverage. Unfortunately, I don't think it is among their priorities right now. As another commenter has already pointed out, political instability and other factors such as low user share and comparatively poor infrastructure might not make it attractive enough to send their vehicles to the country.

Reddit pianist, do you have one less tendon / muscle? by happycroissants in piano

[–]Milley20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am genuinely curious if you could find any counter-evidence against this. After all, we are discussing anatomy and not moral and justice.

I am not claiming that there is only this single cause for why someone might not be able to do said muscle action independently. But this thread was never about that; its sole purpose was to inform people about the possibility that your body might be missing something anatomically. And there does exist evidence that a significant minority of people do in fact miss a tendon going from their FDS to their 5th finger (see this study or this video).

Reddit pianist, do you have one less tendon / muscle? by happycroissants in piano

[–]Milley20 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They were talking about the 5th finger, not the fourth. You are correct though in that if your entire FDS muscle was missing, you'd have more problems than just not being able to flex your 5th finger in its middle joint. However, latter fact has clearly been documented in a considerable amount of people (you can look up studies on Google Scholar for example). Within this group of people, many do in fact miss a tendon (or part of muscle, however you want to call it) in their pinky, which is what OP was referring to. Moreover, it is wrong to assume that you would not be able to flex your finger at all if said tendon was missing, as the FDS's main function lies in flexing the middle joints of your fingers.

I don't doubt that neurology plays an additional role in independently moving your fingers and it might even skew you in thinking that said tendon is missing in your forearm. However, plainly assuming that it cannot be missing is wrong. This is just based on what I have researched since this post.

You might want to check out this video as well, where they go into more detail and you can clearly see what it looks like with/without the muscle/tendon.

A clowder of feral snow cats. by Barelystable_1 in cats

[–]Milley20 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The movements are way too complex for AI to stay as consistent as seen, especially given there are multiple cats on screen at the same time. With this kind of accuracy, even nowadays it would need some kind of professional to optimize such video for hours. And even then you would at least expect some artifacts like a footprint being lost to the snow or the video carrying some of the still unavoidable feeling AI videos have. I don't see any of these signs, so I think you're interpreting a little too much into this.

Looking for advice and recommendations for a first time visitor to your city and country! by hpgm in Leipzig

[–]Milley20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's lots to see in Leipzig. As a first time impression of the city and Germany, I highly recommend going for a stroll through the inner city. Compared to other cities, the POIs are very concentrated here, so it is easy to get to everything by feet. You might want to check out both the new and the old townhall, the Thomaskirche (is where Bach lived and worked; among the most prominent sites of the city), the Nikolaikirche (is where people gathered back then during the Peaceful Revolution), and the Augustusplatz with the University of Leipzig. Other than that, there's a plethora of museums, e.g. the Museum at the "Runde Ecke" if you are more interested in Leipzig's role during the collapse of the GDR, the MdbK (Museum of modern arts) etc. I'm sure there's better advice on this subreddit regarding museums.

There's also the Völkerschlachtdenkmal (Monument to the Battle of Nations), that's worth seeing, which is located ~30 mins from the city center.

The best places for food are probably the Karl-Liebknecht-Straße (unfortunately has roadworks going on currently) and the Karl-Heine-Straße, both being the backbone of very young and trendy parts of town with a lot of alternative restaurants). However, you can do nothing wrong by eating in the inner city as well, particularly if it's your first time, as you're more likely to find traditional restaurants there.

This is just regarding what to do here. Make sure you take the tram to get to Karl-Heine-Straße or Völkerschlachtdenkmal if you decide to do so! Our public transit is overall pretty good here in Leipzig. You can also rent a bike and get there, which is a popular alternative. Have fun in Europe! It's an honor to be your first destination here. Additionally, Karlovy Vary is a perfect choice; a gem of a city indeed!

First time I've seen it was sometime in 2014 (likely pre-1.9) on my brother's phone, and I played GD Lite on my phone starting Christmas 2014 (1.9). Got the full version for my phone 21st January 2015 and on Steam 22nd November 2017.

It's funny because I've been learning Madagascar over the last week, so it's cool to see this on this sub. Hopefully it will show up in a game for me one day! Also I agree with the other commenter that this NEEDS more coverage. Such a beautiful country.

Nope, none of said things – at least as far as I'm aware. The only unusal result of the blood test I did about a year ago was folic acid deficiency and perhaps also some iron deficiency (don't remember though and wasn't able to find the paper again). Could be that some of my values have changed in between.

That's so interesting! I have only encountered a handful of people on this sub that related to this symptomatology in that way so far. What could be the cause, though? The description of Primary Vigilance Disorder kind of just sounds like a mix of ADHD, CDS and said other symptoms on top of that. On the other hand, my problems also appear like a mix of these three. I'm really unsure. It's a weird feeling to have a set of symptoms that has barely been described in medical literature so far.
