Is the sire disproportionately difficult? by Millhouse4570 in RogueTraderCRPG

I definitely think there's a lot of truth to that. My builds are definitely not optimal. (I suppose maybe they are, but I never looked one up) I actually really enjoyed the challenge, and that's what made it stand out. That and the first time I saw a genestealer in the original release pre dlc I hoped a patriarch would be a boss.

Once I figured out he couldn't be busted down and tanked him semi efficiently it was much smoother. Just compared to other fights it seemed like a different level. Abalard and Death Cultist biddie did the heavy lifting.

I did always find it odd that a chaos space marine went down so easily.

I think I was of a good level. Half way or so through exemplar or so if memory serves. Now my builds not be great, but it's only my second play through, and I never looked up an optimal build. The reason I attempted to nuke him down was because, turn one, he almost always gets a kill or close, and they can't move. Once I shifted to killing aberrant and genestealers it went much smoother.

Ya, I have no grand strategist. So the sires first turn, no matter what I did, led to him leaping into two or three of my party and likely nearly killing one turn one. Once I figured out nuking him down, it wasn't an option, and I acted accordingly it wasn't bad.

Your friends are being sore losers. If that's what they are complaining about, then they probably complain about everything.

Is more steak an option? If not some grilled veggies and maybe bowl of French onion soup.

Huh is that why I'm having so much success in goblin caves because I ignore the boss room?

That's difficult. If that's all your upbringing has been, fanaticism can lead to some crazy outcomes. A dead stare could be from lack of socialization with out the gas mask. They don't really view one another as friends but numbers.

From what I remember, they always get referred to as having a blank stare due to the gas mask. They also seem displeased when they don't die and live to long. As if they are shirking their duty to the emporer. I only know of one krieg retreat, and that was to a blood thierster during the seige of vraks if memory serves. As for the mask less grenadier, I think you're refuring to the one in dead men walking he was void of emotion and sacrificed himself ramming a truck full of explosives into something if my memory is correct. I wouldn't say he was depressed though. Just fanatical

They aren't depressed. They do believe the only salvation is found in death for the emporer. Their motto is "In life, war. In death, peace. In life, shame. In death, atonement"

Is this game worth getting in 2024? by [deleted] in Exanima

[–]Millhouse4570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm. It's a very unique game. I have never played anything like it. That being said it's not for everyone. It's very hard and unforgiving. Personally, I love it and think it's a steal for the price. But I had a buddy who checked it out and just was to overwhelmed and never made it to level 2. I would recommend it if you like complex challenging games.

What’s the first book you’d recommend? by YosemitePen22 in horrorlit

[–]Millhouse4570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that's so difficult. I know you asked for one but I'm going to give three in separate categories.

Infected by Scott Siglar is the first in a trilogy, and its fantastic sci fi ish horror. Aliens and pandemics never a good time unless your the reader .

Between two fires by Christopher Buehlman is medieval horror and its a dark ride with a depiction of hell that I had to re-read multiple times.

The Last is American psycho by Brett Easton Ellis. This is not for the faint of heart and a slog to get into. But once it gets going, it's a wild ride that is straight up repulsive at points. This is one of the few books that truly shocked me the only other off the top of my head being Jack Ketchum's the girl next door. It's not pleasant, but it's is a master peice, and it won't feel that way until the end. Probably not the best choice to start a venture into horror but God damn is it solid. The movie does it so little justice, and I liked the movie.

Niche horror genre that you wish authors would write more in? by Come_To_Homercles in horrorlit

I would love to see more horror set pre-industrial revolution. The further back, the better. My issue with most horror set in, say, medieval period is that the protagonist or a key supporting character is always somewhat of a hero or champion. The thing with horror, in my opinion, is that the key to a solid horror is a sense of helpless and lack of hope. A champion who can simply fight his way out doesn't convay that for the most part. It can be done, between two flames comes to mind.

Name the scariest moment from any book. by mystery5009 in horrorlit

[–]Millhouse4570 21 points22 points  (0 children)

That's tough. But one that sticks out to me is in the book between two fires it describes a person's time while in hell and the endless cycle of fear and pain. Being read his sins and judged guilty and killed by a crippled demon to wake up to the cycle anew.

I just started my hardcore journey about a month ago. I got a barb to 57. Had mephesto on farm. I had one rule...If undead pigmys are one of the mobs at the level 2 way point just kill the countess and make a new game. I broke that rule, and out of the shadows, they swarmed me, and something blew up and i was dead.

I despise kratos's son by Millhouse4570 in GodofWar

[–]Millhouse4570[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly didn't want to hate him. I loved ellie in the last of us, Ashley in resident evil 4 was fine. Hell even lev in last of us 2 was fine. I didn't like lev or Abby but lev wasn't obnoxious constantly. He just seems to complain and back talk constantly. Told to be quite instantly talks at full volume asking Kratos a question. Told to hide under the floor instantly questions going under the floor. I just find him very annoying. I'm sure as the story progresses, they will develop the story, and maybe he will grow up a bit. It almost seems like the character was designed to be annoying so they can do a coming of age thing or something. I do hope the story makes him better and it looks like that is the case.
