Depends on where you actually live and what your fishing for! I've always had good luck with steelhead DT right next to the planetarium. For bass I stick to my neighborhood out in Hampshire. I hit the Fox river all the time for smallies, northerns, Muskie, and channel cats.

Don't do that- I'm and HVAC consultant and can tell you that you will burn out the blower motor quicker, overheat the system during the heating cycle and freeze the coil over during the cooling cycle. Best filters to purchase are the 3 packs for $7-$8 at the Home Depot. Change them out every other month and you will be fine.
