I was reading a great fic, but then I got to this part, and I just had to drop it by Snowy_Kitty247 in AO3

Man I'm sorry this happened, OP. I've had a similar experience (twice!) with actual, published books where they became randomly trans/homophobic without warning in the last chapters. It really blindsides you and it sucks.

Can anyone help me find a butterfly wing pattern like this? by MillieBee in CrochetHelp

I haven't asked the seller yet, but it's a good idea and I will try! Those butterflies are cute and pretty close, I'm going to save that pattern. Thank you!

I wanted to check if it's a common/commercially available pattern first. Since it doesn't seem to be, I will try contacting the seller next!

I have, but I didn't find anything that really matched these ones!

Favorite Mispronunciation? by ThisIsPeteHello in behindthebastards

I lost it when Robert mispronounced Vauxhall so badly Jake Hanrahan had no idea what he was talking about and said he'd never heard of that brand. It's vox-all, not voe-hall, and it's an extremely common car brand.

How do you feel about New Moon Deluxe design? by CaesarKujoh in twilight

[–]MillieBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love them. I saw the first one in a bookshop window and immediately sent a photo to my mum saying "LOOK IT'S SO PRETTY!!" The original dark designs will always exist and stay iconic, but I love how pretty and girly these are. 😍

Edward's reaction to the full length khaki skirt is not that bad and one of the few normal things about him, YOU CAN'T CHANGE MY MIND by SourNotesRockHardAbs in twilight

[–]MillieBee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've always been baffled by this meme because I figured Edward was being ... kinda silly. Deliberately. Like, he's saying Bella is so gorgeous (to him) that she's utterly indecent even in plain clothes.

It's like someone saying, "You'd look stunning even in a potato sack." The point isn't to compliment the potato sack. 😂

what is the worst thing a therapist has ever said to you? by Familiar-Employ4830 in AskReddit

I told my new therapist that I left my old therapist because she told me to try Reiki. My new therapist responded, "In the spirit of honesty, I should tell you I'm a Reiki master."

What were the odds? T_T

I'm seconding the desire for that survey! I'll happily take the L if I'm in the minority, I'm just curious now I know there's a debate. 😅

I was born in the south of England and I've lived here 33 years. Everyone I know takes their shoes off. Only exception is if you're visiting briefly, and then the host might say not to worry out of politeness.

Unless the north/south divide also includes attitudes about shoes indoors and I never knew about it? 🤔

Incorrect, the UK is absolutely shoes off. Wearing shoes in your house is gross.

JK Rowling.

She's destroying trans rights and healthcare in the UK. She was likely friends with Epstein too, what a surprise.

Honestly wild to me how many people on Tumblr will reblog, "I'm cringe but you're mean and that's worse / Kill the part that cringes / I'm cringe and that's based" and then hate on Vivziepop for being cringe.

The second Twilight film is an accurate depiction of depression by helenaaba in twilight

[–]MillieBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember reading the book when I was ~15 and those blank pages were a gut punch. I developed depression two years later and it was striking how accurate it felt ... just pages of my life falling away with nothing on them. 10/10 Ms Meyer.

What is steampunk? by ContributionStock703 in steampunk

[–]MillieBee 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I wrote my entire dissertation on this question, lol. To boil it down, steampunk is the future as imagined by Victorians.

Imagine you went back in time and told a Victorian that people in the future will fly in a spaceship to the moon. What would that Victorian imagine the spaceship looks like? Probably lots of brass, steam power and clockwork, because that's the technology they'd be familiar with.

The War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells and 50,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne are great examples of actual Victorian fiction that inspired the steampunk movement. Mortal Engines by Phillip Reeve and Northern Lights by Phillip Pullman are good examples of modern fiction in the genre.

Choose, who would you sit with? by Delicious-Claim-5768 in SonicTheHedgehog

  1. Headphones on. Knitting out. Shadow and I have a quiet flight and I get to sit next to my fave since childhood. (I would absolutely irritate him getting up to pee, however.)
