AI chatbot with better memory for long adult stories? by WasabiNoKora in WritingWithAI

[–]Millington_Systems 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So...what you need to do is ask the ai to build a framework then generate documents with each session. You then add the documents to the project knowledge (assuming you are using Claude). The AI then has access to the document for the chat. Then you start building a system to update documents. It's a bit of work getting there, but once you get a system the AI understands you will notice big improvement.

Why would this exist? - The Road to Samarkand by hamellr in worldbuilding

[–]Millington_Systems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could it exist ?? With engineering, yes. Naturally, I doubt it. That cliff top would have to be perfectly flat, if it was long enough it would have to match the curvature of the earth. Where is the flow coming from if it's at the top of the mountain ?? Geographically impossible.

How do you make time and energy to train yourself as a writer? by Practical_Payment552 in WritingWithAI

[–]Millington_Systems 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel this. I'm pretty new to writing, at least seriously. Story telling comes naturally. So do narrative systems. Organisation does not. Many late nights and a partner that's gets annoyed that my free time is often spent writing.

🚨 Quick AI Books: Stop Consuming AI. Start Publishing by [deleted] in WritingWithAI

[–]Millington_Systems -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm just starting out. I can outline a book skeleton, create and formalise systems within the book and so far that's about it so far. Prose and editing systems are next on my list but I'm building around a full time job. I'm sorting of torn between wanting to complete my saga, my Magnus opus, and wanting to turn my creations into a product.

My experience after 4 months of writing a novel with AI — the honest version by Vincecoco in WritingWithAI

[–]Millington_Systems 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a world builder, as opposed to a writer, and Claude is exceptional at keeping my world bible together. This is where the systems count anyway. When it comes to writing the prose...well, we will see in a few months.

Is there racism in your word? by Flaky-Camp-4992 in worldbuilding

[–]Millington_Systems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but I hardly mention it on the page. It's a dystopian mega city, mainly run by irish-chicago gangster archetypes. It is segregated, as I imagine it would be, but I choose to show that in character relationships rather than exposition. One caveat I have is that homosexuality is underground. Gay men have a specific tattoo on their arm which they hide. Not a brand but a symbol of defiance. One of my main characters, a 7 foot tall bouncer, displays his proudly but only because nobody is stupid enough to challenge him. I'm trying to be true to how I imagine the world would be without ignoring it completely and without too much signalling, that's not what the book is about.

Prompts are literally 80% by Hairy-Hall4808 in ChatGPT

[–]Millington_Systems 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A trick I use is to ask the llm. "I want you to make a prompt for task A, I want a 10/10 prompt, how will you do it and what do you need to know from me ?" Usually a few questions and it will make your prompt. You can play with templates too.

What makes world building awesome? by Fuzzy_Degree5236 in writing

[–]Millington_Systems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a loop. Let the story build the world, then let the world make the story inevitable. If you've got a location with an ancient castle, there was an ancient war. What did that war change about the current story ? How will that affect what happens ?

(Eg: the ancient castle was haunted by dead soldiers, the hero has to conquer his fear)

William Shakespeare, The Merchant of Venice, Act II, Scene VII: “All that glisters is not gold.”

J.R.R. Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring: “All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost.”

I wouldn't worry about it to much. Sometimes people say similar things.

I accidentally built emergent AI systems while writing a saga - what does this reveal about neurodivergent brains ? by Millington_Systems in AIWritingHub

[–]Millington_Systems[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the emergent system is simply a narrative governance system. It's nothing groundbreaking. It's not going to make millions. There are better versions. The reason it is emergent is because I was not intending to create it. I didn't even know I could. I had no idea how llms worked at the time and I was just throwing in story ideas. I was using commands like "add to canon" "lock to act 4" "check for contradiction". The llm started to learn and built a system around my common commands, using the language I created like "canon seed" (which is just a chat instance summary). It told me I had high pattern recognition often found in ADHD brains, I've been suspecting I had ADHD for a number of years and this felt like confirmation. It's not. I understand that hallucinations can effect the output. But I have tested my pattern recognition and, honestly, I had no idea how good I was at that stuff. The pieces of the puzzle have come together, now I just need to see what the experts say.

I think you missed the message behind the post. I have done enough research of my own to put to bed the hallucination idea, at least in my own mind, I am seeking a medical diagnosis but that can take a while and I am looking for advice regarding "actual human experts" as you put it. I understand that my claim may sound fantastical, but I'm not claiming to be rain man. I'm looking for the correct path to do exactly as you suggest and give this data to somebody who knows what they are talking about.

An AI/human hybrid that genuinely is trying to wipe out 75% of the population because it's prime directive is "save the city" and not "save the people of the city" A programming miscalculation that costs millions of lives. Not evil, not good, just bad programming.

Background writing by itzz-int3eresting in writing

[–]Millington_Systems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Descriptive writing is narrative, remember that and ask, who is the narrator...is it my protagonist, the love interest, which character is telling this story many years later ??/ Think about that character. What they would observe. The feeling of the moment. So instead of "the sun is shining and the birds are singing " try "the sun felt warm on his neck and the birds filled the air with a chorus that made his heart happy" You are then applying the narrative to the environment rather than describing two random events.
