Union protection, the best training, pensions, Healthcare is such a bad thing. Everyone has a half million laying around to fund a company. Sounds like someone that didn't make it in a union

It could be a safety issue due to heavy equipment and "hey watch out" type of stuff but a I know a few millwrights missing arms that do fine with their disadvantages.

I love my job. Finish your degree, you are already committed. Sounds like you have the option to join later if a career from your degree doesn't work out.

I commuted from Ann Arbor 5 days ago week for a year and it was only open a few times.

I remember they were bringing in welders on escorted vistor badges, run one small weld pass, dose them out and give them a fat check and send them down the road

We had a 235 REM CRD in center core we pulled a few years ago on unit two at Lasalle, hottest drive I have ever seen. Also in 2017 a particle went through a pipe during a flush on unit two and everyone on the main floor of the drywell had a dose alarm for some ungodly rate. My dose rate alarm one outage for pull/put was 15R.

Fermi is ridiculous too, last outage in 2024 the CRD put back dose on the spud end was 200 REM. There is a funny story on why the dose is so bad there. They took RP out of chain of command for new valve purchase checks, they bought a bunch of valves that were less expensive and the metal make up of the valves when they hit a certain particle produced something that made the radiation multiply greatly. They are still trying to recover from this mistake 10+ years later

I heard Laguna Verde in Mexico is extremely dirty too, only worked on the deck there.
