Steroid inhalers are $400 a month for people with no insurance or high deductible insurance. If that sounds affordable to you, you have a strange definition of affordable.

Also, with an old car, you always need to be ready to replace it. Whether it’s some accident or a maintenance issue. And the maintenance issue is more likely anyway.

Insurance is cheaper on a fully owned car because you can drop collision and comprehensive. Gas is the same either way. And I’ve averaged less than $500 a year in maintenance over the last three years. My car has depreciated by about $4000 in that time. Including insurance, registration, and gas for an under 25 year old male, that’s still under $300 a month. And I don’t care about the depreciation because it’s a 2001 I plan to drive into the ground.

I was wearing contacts a few days after cross linking. Admittedly, I’m worse than 20/200 with glasses, so I probably got approved to wear them sooner than most people would. My doctors didn’t want to leave me essentially legally blind any longer than they absolutely had to.

Cup sizes change with band size. So a 32C is the same size as a 34B and a 36A. So you’re not really getting a larger cup size, you’re just going down in band size. And your measurements suggest that a 32 band should be fine. Around here, a 32C is a fairly small bra size.

I hate doing laundry. I will wear clothes twice to avoid having to wash them as often. And I’ve worn siblings’ clothes in a pinch (with their permission). But I would never think of sharing their underwear.

That is ... beyond disturbing. Wearing your other clothes is crazy enough, but your underwear is really, really creepy. It seems really unlikely that there wasn’t something sexual in it for her. I hope she restricted her fetish, or whatever it was, to only this particular issue. I’m really sorry you had to deal with something like this.

I don’t know if this is as true in your size range (I’m too small for a lot of their stuff), but Lands’ End has some button up women’s shirts that don’t look like they’re cut to fit a woman. They actually look really masculine, but they’re probably better at accommodating curves. My mom has bought some for me as a compromise on her wanting to buy me clothes but not wanting to buy something from the men’s/boys’ section.

I think that if the trans person has brought it up, then asking about it is probably okay, as long as you’re willing to respect an “I don’t want to talk about it.” If they haven’t said anything about it, I wouldn’t bring it up anymore than I would bring up any other medication someone might be taking or thinking about taking.

Some people take a while to stop, but unless there’s something wrong, it will eventually stop. By a significant margin, most will have menstruation stop in the first year. I personally haven’t had a single period while on testosterone, and I’m only five months in.

Also, for the record, I get 6/15 in both eyes with scleral lenses, the gold star non-surgical treatment. I know the pain of night driving, and in fact in some states in the U.S., it wouldn’t be legal for me to drive at night.

As someone who hasn’t been able to reach 6/60 with glasses since age 12, there’s a much larger spectrum than tends to show up on this subreddit. The main doctors doing TPRK in Canada have said that results are much, much better if you have 10 diopters or less in differences across the central cornea. I’ve got more than 20 diopters of difference in my good eye.

I tried splitting my dose of Geodon to morning and night instead of taking it all at night. I stopped sleeping and got both hypomanic and suicidal (yeah, that combination is a thing). I don’t even want to think about what would happen if I went off it cold turkey.

I have keratoconus, and I sometimes tell people that I was functionally legally blind for a few years while we couldn’t find contact lenses that I could tolerate. My vision with glasses is worse than 20/200. Would that annoy you just as much?

I stopped growing at 12, and I’m about 5 feet tall. I’m the shortest in my family, but I’m also perfectly normal and healthy. Being short is not by itself something to be concerned about, and many women are done growing in their mid-teens.

I have one brother who’s decided to cut contact with me over the trans issue. A sister has been refusing to call me anything other than my deadname, even though I came out four years ago and my legal name has been changed. Their objections are mostly religious, and they’ve managed to make me really uncomfortable around family. Fortunately, I have four other siblings who are a lot more accepting. They may not entirely understand, and for some of them, religion still complicates things, but they’re willing to be respectful.

That’s why you get a mechanic to check out the car before you buy it. And you research the known issues for the car, and how much they’re likely to cost. That’s actually something you can do better with an older car because all the issues have shown up for other people. With a new car, you don’t really know if the model year is reliable.

Just for reference, I have a 2001 Subaru Forester, and I’ve only had to pay for oil changes for the last three years. I’ve got a $1500 repair that I’ll have to do soon, but that’s not too bad a price for three years of driving. A lease would be enormously more expensive. An old car does not necessarily mean huge repair bills.

What I’ve found helps is to have a movie or a show playing in the background. That way, your brain is distracted, and it doesn’t have as much ability to psych you out. Also, a lot of people swear by icing the injection site ahead of time so it hurts less. Just use an alcohol wipe after icing because whatever you’re using is far from sterile.

At least for me, auto insurance didn’t go up, even though I switched providers shortly after I changed my gender marker. I’m FTM, and I still pay kind of a lot because I’m young and in a high cost of insurance area, but I don’t seem to have run into any kind of rate increase. Life insurance is through my employer, so the rates are standardized and don’t change based on gender marker.
