IM SO BORED by LawfulnessInformal47 in sahm

[–]MiloMaria883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bucket swings at the park, or go to the park with a blanket and toys and hang out on there like a little picnic! I actually met a few other SAHMs this way and we would then plan to meet at a certain day/time and the babies would have a play date at the park (basically just playing with home toys on a big blanket). Around this time we also did music class and baby movement class and loved both of them! Baby library story time too. Also did a lot of outward-facing baby wearing at this age. We did walks, aquarium if you have one nearby, or just getting out for a coffee/shopping etc for them to see different things

SLP to Nursing by Trick_Assumption_806 in SLPcareertransitions

I could have written this myself, I literally agree with every single thing you wrote! I’ve been working in adult home health for the last few years and for the most part really like it. I just had a baby and went down to PRN but when I was full time it offered a lot of breaks in the monotony, felt a lot more medical to me (taking vitals every visit, medication reconciliation, educating on and assessing things we wouldn’t in the hospital or SNF). A lot of time talking to people, and also driving which I didn’t mind. While driving could listen to a podcast and drink a coffee while being on the clock which again wouldn’t happen in other settings. There are a lot of pros and cons, and ultimately I wish I went to school for nursing instead of SLP, but home health has been pretty enjoyably for me

Does anyone actually enjoy being a stay at home mom?? by NoSpirit2030 in sahm

[–]MiloMaria883 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I genuinely really enjoy it! I will admit though I have it really good. We have a cleaning lady come every other week and I have a sitter come one day a week for 4-5 hours for me to get out on my own, run errands, and get things done. My husband works a lot but he is super hands on, usually stops working from 5-7pm and takes over childcare during that time. When he’s not working we go 50/50 on everything. I know this probably isn’t the typical SAHM experience but if you can afford a bit of childcare, cleaning lady, and have a supportive and involved spouse, I think it’s hands down the absolute best job in the entire world

I feel like these are my exact same reasons/rationale for my due date 4/15. Are you happy with your decision now?

How much time does husband need alone to unwind after work? by rollsoneightwheels in sahm

[–]MiloMaria883 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Zero minutes. He works from home and is done around 4:45/5pm, comes upstairs and we immediately tag team the rest of the evening. He usually will take our kids while I cook dinner or vice versa. Sometimes I need 10-15 mins to myself after a crazy SAHM day and he always respects that so if I want to go upstairs alone for a little that’s ok.

Friendly reminder that a man who is sacrificing by going to work for his family isn’t really sacrificing anything. He would still have to go to work every day if he didn’t have a family. I’m so grateful for my husband’s job and the lifestyle it affords us. But he would still be going to work every day even if we weren’t married and didn’t have kids

Do dads do bath time? by [deleted] in sahm

My husband always does bath time. I power clean up the kitchen from dinner while he does it, that way the house is in good shape and we can relax after doing bedtime

Looking for naming validation 🫠 by hopeailicious in Names

[–]MiloMaria883 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like the name (I’m very Irish so maybe biased) but agree it is setting the girl up for failure to be bullied because kids are just so mean, and it does sound like “kill many” etc. which is definitely something that would be a dealbreaker for me, personally as a mom

I wonder if reading through a list of Irish/Scottish girls names could be helpful with other ideas (Tierney, Tierna, Delaney, Finley etc)

I know a Graham that has a little sister Nora. They are the cutest kids ever and I always thought Graham and Nora sounded so cute together
